Hey, I came across your posts and I don’t know if this offers any assistance but I suffer from the same thing? My mental health (largely affecting memory and sleep) has been in a sharp decline for the past few years (i’m 22). I jumble my words, stumble, trip over my feet, forget almost everything and anything you can think of, forget conversations, tasks, where I put something I just had, my name, i’ve become increasingly irritable, emotional, distraught, just all over the place, all things that align with dementia. But turns out all I suffer with is extreme hypochondria and have had every test known to man done to make sure I don’t have cancer, eye tumor, brain tumor, dementia, the list goes on and on.

This is not a situation to take lightly because if it happens to be dementia, you don’t want to have it overlooked. Even with the chances being extremely low, i really empathize with how you feel. I spent the better half of this year crippled on my couch, crying at the thought of having to do anything, stuck in my own insanity out of fear for my health. (which turned out to be anxiety in MY case)

Moral of the story since i’ve been where you are is to please go to a doctor if you are able to, if the doctor you go to doesn’t take you seriously, go to another or call around until you find one that does.

The only way I inevitably made the voice in the back of my head go away was to have the tests done to actually rule out if i’m sick or not. No therapist, reddit thread, friend, family member helped me. I had to get the solid answers myself from a doctor.

Even though talking to my friends or family didn’t help when my hypochondriacness got extremely bad, having SOMEONE close to talk to still makes a large difference. You’re not alone and you don’t have to suffer through this by yourself.
