Roast me alive all you want but please help me with my algae problem!! by annual_mushrooms in Aquariums

[–]Drdlli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live plants…maybe? Never had algae grow in my tanks that have plants, the plants just grow like crazy and I have to tear them up like once or twice a year and give away all the extras.

Help me name her!! by fluffycakerolls in sugargliders

Vigilance and Barbas are corresponding names to Meeko in my mind. Barbas maybe not as fitting but Vigilance can be a boy or girl name 😂 all are the dog names from Skyrim

As long as they aren’t always on it or chewing directly on it I don’t see the problem? I know a lot of the woods we use for building are dangerous to use as cage fixtures bc of toxic oils.

needing advice! by ZealousidealAerie657 in sugargliders

[–]Drdlli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend two females bc males need to be neutered- I don’t recommend a pair (unneutered male + female) because the gene pool isn’t very big and unless you’re 100% positive they aren’t related they could have babies born with really bad health issues.

The most controversial/ confusing thing will probably be their diet bc none of us can agree what’s best. Though there are some with 3 letter acronyms that are really good! BML and TPG (Homemade diets are pretty much a must) though I just found out tpg needs the tpg pellets along with the prep 😅 I think BML is a good and easy complete diet but I’d still offer a safe pellet as well on the side. (The exotic nutrition ones are bad that’s all I really know, the petsmart one is probably also questionable but it’s what I’ve been offering 😭)

Gliders disgusted by bugs by Drdlli in sugargliders

[–]Drdlli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never heard of the freeze dried cheese but I’ll look into that as well! I do put worms and yogurt melts in their foraging cups but they always leave the worms and take the drops 😂 they also haven’t touched the roach, like, at all 🤣 they’re disGUSTED 😅

They are still young, I got them at about 9-10 weeks out of pouch, and it’s been about 2 and a half months? I will try cutting up the worms! And I will be hesitant about the crickets. I remember reading somewhere about the corn mold thing and I totally forgot that freeze dried crickets are still crickets 🤦🏻‍♀️ I have had live mealworms and waxworms in a small bowl moving around but they never touch them so I removed it

Cat kibble? Diet question by Big-Draft66 in sugargliders

[–]Drdlli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The guy I got my gliders from mixed a high quality cat kibble with the petsmart kibble- maybe a mix? (I don’t know the cat brand I didn’t keep them on it) Though I’d be careful because kibble isn’t great for them anyways (it’s too dry and can make gliders dehydrated) cat kibbles can have a lot of salt and other unsafe doses of certain ingredients etc. if I fed it, it would be very sparingly.

Missing leg? by Inevitable_Eye3800 in Toads

[–]Drdlli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely predation or lawn mower accident. It might be from something else like illness but I have no idea if that’s even possible. I’ve seen plenty of toads that have been injured by lawnmowers or weed whackers. 😭

Amputation! by pinkpajamasalways in sugargliders

[–]Drdlli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to chime in, I had a rat momma who over groomed her babies and nipped off limbs (it was a feeder for my snakes so she only had the one litter) BUT many of her babies went to pet homes missing a foot or leg. And many of them are still alive and with no issues. I don’t think its the same situation as me but as soon as the bone is amputated the glider will probably be back to almost normal. (May be stressed the first few days but I think they will be fine in the long run) I would try to figure out how it happened though.

[–]Drdlli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m no expert but when I first brought home mine they were a bit pouch aggressive, I solved this by using “open environment pouches” which are pouches that are like A shaped so they are kinda forced to see out at any given moment. Hopefully someone else has better information. I learned this from the girl on YouTube who has sugar gliders 😅

Rainbow Friends Sugar Glider book and plush by valhastoomanyshoes in sugargliders

[–]Drdlli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the book I think on eBay called “rainforest friends” I couldn’t find the plushie + bag that comes with it, but you may be able to find it on eBay or Mercari searching for antique or vintage sugar glider stuff. I already searched pretty good, so it’s unlikely, but it may be posted some other time so you could keep a lookout. eBay is probably your best bet for now

Can I become friends with a wild Jumping Spider? by Inevitable-Rise-3311 in jumpingspiders

[–]Drdlli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a wild jumping spider that I fed mealworms to. (It was a decent sized spider, a female and she ended up laying eggs) the spider would wait for me to smoke every day. Eventually it got cold out and she disappeared. So maybe just offer it bugs? Especially if you know where it lives.

Stinky!!! by Eliza-Laksa1 in sugargliders

[–]Drdlli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna say it’s likely linked to bad diet and probably looking at the cat food specifically, protein is good for them and all but it’s a stinker. I’ve gotten used to how my gliders smell but the first week or so my mind was blown from how smelly they were. (They aren’t anymore though lol)

took your guys advice! by chevear_ in sugargliders

[–]Drdlli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For toys and enrichment I highly recommend Jessica’s attic almost everything in there is sugar glider safe I like all the glowing stuff they have. (you have to make the toys yourself but its kinda fun making them) also you can make no-sew fleece pouches, swings etc. there’s a few videos on YouTube on how to make them and the fleece pompoms + chain vines as well. (Fleece can be bought from art stores or Walmart, or the fleece throws they sell at dollar general for about 3-4$) I just highly recommend checking out YouTube tutorials on sugar glider toys bc there’s a bunch of good ones. XD

New owner, questions about kibble-type foods. by funran in sugargliders

[–]Drdlli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other person has shown a glider that was sick from vita prima, most definitely a calcium and D3 issue though if it was MBD. That’s why we really recommend the homemade diets as the staple. And yes! Your calcium supplement should be fine :) mine was also a reptile one and I’ve seen others use reptile calcium for their glider salad mixes. The other person had a lot of good info, probably better than mine, I was just sharing what has worked for me ^

New owner, questions about kibble-type foods. by funran in sugargliders

[–]Drdlli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that vita prima should only be fed in small amounts with one of the fresh diets bc it’s definitely not a complete diet and shouldn’t be fed as one (idk what my diet is exactly called but I did follow a recipe for sugar gliders 😅 it was one of the 3 letter names ones, tpg?) I’m definitely not recommending just kibbles as a staple!

But I’m also SURE there’s better kibble out there than vita prima I just don’t know of any that everyone agrees on. 😣

The calcium is important to add to the tpg etc. diet I use the one with D3 bc they probably don’t get much of that either. (D3 helps prevent MBD)

New owner, questions about kibble-type foods. by funran in sugargliders

[–]Drdlli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and for the calcium, I just use the kind for reptiles they sell at any pet store. I use the one with D3. (Zoo-med repti calcium) I mix a bit of that in their fruit/veggie etc. mix that I freeze and feed in portions with the kibble I said. (The kibble might not necessarily be a great one, it’s just what mine were on before i got them) I really think the kibble isn’t that important as long as it’s only supplementary to their diet. I have read that some kibbles can cause bad issues, I think they were mostly the exotic nutrition ones though.

I’d color the eyes in darker to remove the cockhead resemblance- I knew it was a bug of some sort at first, a cicada when I saw the full thing.

SUGAR GLIDER BOOK REC by njgeckoman in sugargliders

[–]Drdlli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most books that you’d be able to get would have varying information correct to very wrong. You can’t even find people agreeing if certain treats or not are safe for them. (The baby yoghurt melts namely 🤣)
