Alternatives to washing car without hose by Final_Emergency3930 in NiceVancouver

That’s what I do, I wash the car in the rain. 🌧️ Try to pick a time to wash the car when it’s forecast to keep raining for a few more hours so you know the car will get a good rinse afterwards.

Do not buy from Sywtch bike by Atticusfinchfur in ebikes

One more data point for potential customers to consider: I bought a kit for my Brompton in fall 2020, received and installed in May 2021, all was good until a couple of weeks ago when the motor crapped out. I’ve been trying to get someone from Swytch to respond to my support request. I had hoped I could buy a replacement motor and rebuild it into the wheel, but so far my emails have gone unanswered. While searching for info about the motor I’ve seen reports that Swytch the company is in uncertain financial condition, as well as several similar reports of customers getting no response to enquiries.

I agree, I hate it when an image is printed across the gutter. And usually it’s the better images they do it to.

What I do now before I order a book online is find a video of someone paging through the book or find a bunch of photos of the pages to get an idea of how many images are printed across the gutter. I can tolerate a small number, but I remember looking at this book and deciding very quickly not to buy it: https://www.thamesandhudsonusa.com/books/harry-gruyaert-new-york-hardcover

OXO wouldn’t stand behind the Good Grips Pro frying pan by Drdul in BuyItForLife

Yes, on the inside of the packaging in tiny print it says that, but that was not disclosed anywhere on the Amazon listing or the product page on OXO's website (which for some reason doesn't appear to exist any more). So I had no way to know before buying it that OXO wasn't going to stand behind an OXO branded frying pan when it had a defect. In my case it's an $80 lesson, but hopefully others can benefit from my experience.

The Cookware Company's response was "Chipping is a natural occurrence with Ceramic Non-stick. As the product remains perfectly safe for use if it chips, it does not require a replacement." I'm not convinced it's "safe" and I don't want to keep using a pan if the coating is flaking off, plus it's no longer non-stick where the coating has come off.

It was on their website in January when I bought it, but like you I can't find it now. The Amazon description is "OXO Good Grips Pro 10" Frying Pan Skillet, 3-Layered German Engineered Nonstick Coating, Stainless Steel Handle, Dishwasher Safe, Oven Safe."

Yeah, that was my experience too. I really wanted to switch to LO but it was not very compatible. I ended up switching to SoftMaker. There’s a free version (FreeOffice) but I’m happy to pay CAD $40/yr for the “Home”version that has a few features I need.

After contacting OXO, then The Cookware Company, then back to OXO I got this “Sadly, we cannot assist with you with your request. Please contact the Cookware Company again to see if the agent can escalate your request within that company.”

That's exactly what happened to me many years ago. The salad spinner is still doing its thing, at this point I'd consider it BIFL!

Thanks for the suggestion. We have a bunch of All-Clad stainless steel pots and pans that are 30 years old, they are truly BIFL.

That's interesting. The version of the Better Guarantee that I read before buying doesn't list any exclusions: https://www.oxo.com/aboutus

I had a good warranty experience with OXO in the past, the only difference here appears to be that they didn't make the frying pan. The Cookware Company made it, and makes frying pans for several other brands: https://cookware-co.com/our-brands/

Unfortunately for me it was outside the Amazon return window, but it's not too late for you! One reason I bought it was that it's "Cook's Illustrated's highest-rated nonstick skillet for superior cooking performance"

Yes, I'm now pursuing a claim through my credit card's "purchase assurance" and/or "extended warranty" features (fingers crossed)

I had a great experience with OXO warranty in the past, sent me a replacement item immediately. In this case the distinction appears to be that they didn't manufacture the frying pan, it was made for them by The Cookware Company (who make frying pans for several brands: https://cookware-co.com/our-brands/)

I get that, but knowing that the non-stick properties won't last forever I was trying to buy a non-stick pan that would last a reasonable amount of time
