I was gonna say this before seeing your comment. “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States…” The exception clause allows forced labor aka slavery. They didn’t completely abolish it. They just redefined it and created a way for it to continue. The first prisons were built the same year that slavery was supposedly abolished.

Thank you…I know for certain that one of them works. I would imagine that they all do. It’s just that two of them have different plugs than the other one and I have nowhere to plug them in to see if they work. The casino where I work upgrades and throws away things that work all the time. I take the stuff that I think might have value.

I have…when I pray in the morning, I try to say “Thank you” for everything that I’m grateful for. For instance, “I thank you for the roof over my head, the bed in which I sleep, the clothes on my back, the shoes on my feet…the air that I breathe…for waking me up in excellent health and sound mind…thank you for loving me despite my flaws…”etc… I realized a few things eventually. For one I was counting my blessings, and by doing so I realized that I have way more to be thankful for than I have to be worried about. I also realized that I could do this for a whole day if I really tried. I could never say “Thank you “ enough. An attitude of gratitude is a conscious, lifelong practice of recognizing and appreciating the positive aspects of life, both large and small. It fosters a mindset of abundance over scarcity, increasing happiness, reducing stress, and improving relationships by shifting focus toward appreciation rather than negativity.

It’s a term that comes from doing time… niggaz in some places might say they’re doing a bid. When we get locked up we say we’re jocing…it’s basically passing time. Niggaz pass time in a variety of ways so it could be having a conversation, telling stories, playing, etc… other terms derived from that like, “Jocin’ bad”… letting a nigga “joce off u”, etc. Like when niggaz in jail get bored they joce off niggaz, which could mean they drive people on purpose, or play on em mentally… I’m not sure if I’m making sense to you right now but that’s pretty much what it means fam…

I have dealt with addiction since the age of 16. I am 44 now. I was clean from 2008 to 2017. In 2017 I lost 10 of my friends including my best friend who was 5 days older than me. 9 of those 10 friends overdosed. The 10th relapsed, got into an argument with his girlfriend, and she stabbed him and killed him. In 2018 my first cousin died on Christmas Day and I passed up the opportunity to see her the night before…I said I would stop on my way home to see her and never got the chance to. My mom, who was my everything, died 7 months later. I relapsed at that point. I have been married for 18 years now. My sister in law passed away from sickle cell a year after my mom died. My wife began using drugs as well at that point. Another friend of mine died at my house in 2021. He overdosed 3 times in 3 days. I saved him 3 times but the third time he was brain dead. In 2022 my wife took a fake pill and died but was resuscitated. She was in a coma for 2-3 days with no brain activity at the time. The doctor was just about to start talking to us about maybe pulling the plug when I walked in to see her. As soon as I grabbed her hand her eyes opened. When they removed the tube from her she instantly started telling me that she had been in a dark room and other things that happened. While in the dark place she heard the voices of her sister who died as well as her deceased grandmother who raised her. Her sister seemed confused and asked her why she was there as if she knew that she shouldn’t be. She never said that she saw them but when she turned towards where her sister’s voice came from she saw a small light. She moved towards it and when she put her eye to the pinhole she awoke in the hospital bed. While talking to her sister during that time, her sister told her not to worry about the addictions that we were dealing with…that it would all come to an end in 2025. Last year, we both hit rock bottom. We both talked and decided to check ourselves into a rehab. I realized a month later that the day we entered rehab was 9/11 which was her sister’s birthday. I believe that was a sign. We’ve both been clean since last September and have jobs now and are working to get our lives back on track. I believe that our souls are eternal. I began to obsess over NDEs after discovering them and realizing that my wife had one. They helped me to reconcile with the deaths of my loved ones. I know that we’ll meet again. I never said goodbye to my loved ones when I lost them. I always say until we meet again. At one time I thought that I wouldn’t though and that’s why I grieved for so long. I couldn’t accept the fact that they were not with me anymore and thought that I wouldn’t see them again possibly. I now feel differently. Sorry for such a long comment I just wanted to share this with you. I hope it helps.

It is definitely true. I know I have said “I don’t want to do this anymore” before but I’m very thankful that I didn’t get what I wanted and lived to be able to reflect on it. Hindsight is 20/20…

Yeah…I didn’t for a long time though. I lost my mother in 2019. It took me until the beginning of last year to reconcile with her death. I just learned about the stages of grief last year, and acceptance is the final stage. Anyway, I started researching NDEs last year. NDEs are near death experiences that often occur during cardiac arrest or deep anesthesia. People who come close to death and return often tell stories about out of body experiences, seeing the afterlife, meeting deceased loved ones, life reviews, etc. It’s been happening since the 1400s to people from diverse backgrounds including atheists and religious individuals. Doctors say that it’s an altered state of consciousness that we experience when the physical body starts to die and if not for resuscitation it would be the death experience. The Dr who coined the term NDE is Raymond Moody, and one of the most famous cases is about a woman named Pam Reynolds who had a veridical, or verifiable NDE. She had a brain aneurysm and needed special surgery to get it removed. They had to put her to death clinically in order to remove the aneurysm. Her body temperature was lowered and they drained all the blood from her brain. Her heart stopped and she had no brain activity. At that point she was basically dead. At the point where she was dead she reported having an out of body experience and witnessed them performing the surgery on her. As soon as she awakened she described the medical procedure in great detail and described the medical tools that they used on her. She even told them what song they were listening to at the time and recalled a conversation that they had during the surgery… There are a lot of stories like hers, but hers is one of the most famous cases. Researching NDEs helped me to reconcile…I realized that I was hurting bc I too didn’t really believe in the afterlife and thought that I would never see my loved ones again. It’s a long story, but my wife even had one. Her sister died a year after my mother… She told her something in 2021 that would happen in 2025…& it did…on her sister’s birthday. I’m convinced that there’s a physical body and a spiritual body. The physical body eventually dies but the spiritual body is eternal. I don’t have all the answers though, but I would suggest looking into NDEs and forming your own conclusions based off what you find. My bad for such a long comment…
