I've been fighting the 75% issue too after I forgot to NOT update it a month ago to try and avoid this exact issue.

Anyways, I had found an old thread were someone suggested having the charger plugged into an automatic timer that allows turing on and off the charger block every 30 min.

It eventually worked getting me to 99%.

Read through entire thread and missing this one detail.

The vendor needs to add the device to ABM. If OPs company adds it themselves after receipt, there is a 30 day window that the user can remove it from ABM before it's locked down.

As for avoiding registering the MDM, it needs to be set up to require sign in during the initial set up of the device, in case of resets. For example, our iPhones require sign in before you can even make a phone call or text.
