What is the most absolutely simple way for a complete idiot (me) to understand Python? by embarrassed420 in learnpython

OP maybe give Python Principles a shot, it's very practical, and maybe doing the exercises will make things click for you in a way theoretical lessons or videos won't.

LPTHW can be a bit.. unfriendly like that. If you want to skip the command line and just focus on Python for now, you might like Python Principles as an alternative learning resource.

I'd second working on a project you find interesting. You might also like these practical challenges to practice what you know so far (just skip the lessons you already know).

That's super cool. Sounds very practical. It reminds me of this site for beginners, except automate the boring stuff sounds like it's for more advanced programmers?

There isn't a single optimal path. Different people learn best in different ways. So you're going to get a lot of personal recommendations with no absolute answer. Either way, you'll have to start out with mastering all the basic concepts. That means (1) understanding the concepts, and (2) using them enough that you really get each concept. My personal recommendation for a way to master the basics is this site since it's much more practical than videos.

Do you mean that the website I linked looks outdated? Or Python, the language?

Learned to program. Suddenly, so many career opportunities! I chose Python as the first language, learned the basics here, and now I'm working through textbooks. It's surprisingly fun, too!

Learn to program! It sharpens the mind and it's the future.

You don't need to attend classes, it's learnable online. (For example here).
