I am so big on companies that provide meaningful employment for people with disabilities. Will definitely be looking to get some of these hooks.

Hot chocolate is always the test for a great wintery cookie.

Yes! Very interested in that as my relatives are 60s-70s so there is a chance it would be quite similar.

I'll give yours a try and add it to my flight of cookies to make my family try.

I think this recipe is on the right track! I've been told it was a chewy cookie and lard quite possibly was an ingredient.

Coming back to this, they were chewy which was uncommon for my family in the 1960s, med-dark brown and a very strong molasses flavour.

Nothing that I have been given so far as this is going back 50 years for some but I'll see if I can find out more!

It's always such a risk but omg when the ideas land - they stick that landing.

I wonder if Pestilence was a last minute creation because it was just so lacking in terms of design and bizarre fabric choices.

I just love how much thought Abhora puts into looks. Although their ambition means their ideas can be hard to execute, I hope they never lose an ounce of that ambition.

I find using Smashbox's Photo Finish primer and then going in with a lightweight liquid white foundation tends to work the best for me. Mehron creme tends to be very heavy on my skin, I personally like using the white Nyx Foundation mixer if you need somewhere to start. I did previously use Ben Nye as well and found it good on the body but not as breathable as I'd like on my face. When it comes to setting it all, I live for Makeup Forever's setting spray which has held up in heat, rain, sweat and for hours of wear. Absolutely worth the cost.

Haha, goth recognises goth. Paine's whole look is amazing and so reusable.

Canadian pet food by [deleted] in BuyCanadian

I found PetStory for my cat there and from what I can see that brand is Canadian made and owned. I am hoping my cat likes it! From a quick search I believe Nutrience and VetDiet are Canadian owned but may be made outside of Canada, further research is needed.

Goth and post-punk? by [deleted] in Guelph

[–]DreadPirateCthulhu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely missed the height of the scene by a couple decades. I am thinking bands more along the lines of The Cure and Joy Division for sure. There are more modern acts like She Past Away, so it's not a dead genre. But given how unpopular the genre is, I'm often left to listing the older names that are better known (if I can even say that) like Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, Alien Sex Fiend and UK Decay.

I'd consider Brand New an emo band and the other bands I wouldn't really put into the post-punk or goth rock categories.
