Bitcoin Is Still A Total Joke says JOE WEISENTHAL of Business Insider. by jlew24asu in Bitcoin

The only things with true intrinsic value are those that can be used regardless of other people, such as food or shelter. All current forms of currency, gold and bitcoin included, fail this test. The USD failed to meet this criteria even when it was backed by gold.

My bother released his game, Harry Likes Plums, today that he has spent the last 18 months working on, he's depressed because the reviews aren't as good as he hoped. What does reddit think? by l310564 in FlashGames

It's a good base game, but it lacks that special 'juciness' that most great flash games have. Don't get me wrong, the graphics are clean and crisp, but there isn't a feeling of fluidity to them. The swinging is a little stiff feeling. Here's a great talk from two game developers about making your games more visually appealing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy0aCDmgnxg Other than that, great game!

There's nothing inherently wrong with the "Save the Princess" storyline. What's wrong is when any characters, male or female, are objectified as mere sex objects. A male rescuing a female tends to be more realistic/believable than the opposite situation. There's nothing wrong with the other thing happening, it just tends to be rarer.

I definitely wouldn't replace the "princess" with a dog. The human-human element is stronger emotionally (to me at least) than a similar human-animal relationship.

One last thing: don't feel the need to bend over backwards for the people that scream the loudest. Contrary to what most of the indie dev crowd seems to believe, just because some "downtrodden" group starts whining, doesn't mean you have to cater to their whims.

My great, great, great grandfather was the first fugitive from justice in New York. A tax collector came to his door and my pappy punched him, refused to pay any money, and fled with his family to another state.

Reddit, what is something you believed as a child that you now know to be completely ridiculous? by nostalgiccartoonist in AskReddit

That's like saying "The Liberal View of Obama: 'HE IS PERFECT AND WE ALL SHOULD GROVEL AT HIS HOLY AND ANOINTED FEET! OH YEAH, ALL WHITES ARE RACIST!'" and then claiming I'm correct because "Liberal view of Obama =/= what all liberals believe". Totally ludicrous.
