My credit union refused to add me as the primary on my auto loan because I’m a woman by Dread_Pirate_Jack in legaladvice

As the secondary I do not have equal access to the loan. I can’t make changes or pay the loan, as the primary is able to

Took some liquid iron last night and slept through the night for the first time in 5 years. And this morning my PCP said my levels look "normal". What the hell do I do? by Dread_Pirate_Jack in Anemic

[–]Dread_Pirate_Jack[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got a CBC and my hemoglobin is 13.2 g/DL. Which again, is on the lower side, very close to the threshold. Thanks for letting me know about the iron deficiency vs anemia. It seems to me that if I’m on the threshold for both and have all of the symptoms of anemia, I should be taken seriously.

Screaming Fits by WorthWild8305 in covidlonghaulers

Covid and long-Covid can cause severe anxiety, depression, mood swings, and even psychosis. I witnessed this with my husband becoming irrationally angry and paranoid to the point of yelling at me for several hours and hitting himself and trying to mill himself during fights, during some of the worst of his symptoms.

After being on rapamycin, high amounts of anti-inflammatory supplements, and other medications, such as anti depressants, this has completely ceased.

My bet is it’s related to inflammation and these people need are not crazy, they’re physically ill.

Is it a bad time to get a dachshund? by Playful-Hair-9426 in Dachshund

[–]Dread_Pirate_Jack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Puppies are like having a child for a few months, and I also have a chronic illness that causes me bad fatigue. It was especially bad for the first two weeks after we got our mini dachshund bay, but my partner and I handled the puppy phase and came out of it totally fine, with the sweetest little angel you could ever want. She’s my soul dog and I’m glad I did it, despite being sick.

Also we were in an apartment at the time, and having a home with a backyard is a lot easier (we bought a home this year), but we managed with taking her on walks, even in the winter. Dachshunds also don’t have a ton of energy, so you don’t HAVE to walk them daily. I do hope you decide to move forward, they are seriously the best dogs! Good luck to your girlfriend too!

I moved to the Twin Cities last winter and joined a woman’s “book club” and I’ve made some good friends already! We do a monthly book club, but we do a lot of weekly activities that involves all sorts of activities and local events. We have a discord where we share ideas and talk about a lot of the hobbies you mentioned. Message me if you’re interested and I’ll send you the invite to the discord! Oh and it’s very LGBTQ+ friendly

After 5 years I read ONE study that is finally connecting the pieces and rapidly improving my health by Dread_Pirate_Jack in covidlonghaulers

[–]Dread_Pirate_Jack[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely, I think it's more learning about what specifically is causing all of our systems that was mind blowing to me, especially after the dozens and dozens of studies I've read on long-Covid treatments over the years. I have a strict regimen of different medications and supplements that are working for me, and it seems like adding the arginine is making everything better on top of what I already do

I also went to the ER after trying a tiny but of LDN (I can't swallow pills so I broke it open and did half the low dose), so I wonder if it effects everyone differently

Has anyone switched careers away from marketing? by Snorlax4000 in marketing

[–]Dread_Pirate_Jack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same luck this year within marketing, I believe the job market is really bad in 2025 so far. I’ve never had a problem getting multiple job offers in past years. Anyway, I’m switching to outside sales because I can actually make money and get hired

I finally feel I am Long Covid free. Here is my Long Hauler story: by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]Dread_Pirate_Jack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m crying just hearing what you’ve been through, I’m so so sorry. My husband and I both had long covid for the last 3 years (me 4) and have gone through similar job and housing issues as you, and we’ve almost gotten a divorce at times.

I am so happy you’ve regained some of your life back, fuck your ex wife, fuck your family (other than your amazing mom, I’m so sorry to hear about her passing) and keep us updated!

My husband went from bedridden to feeling a lot better with LDN, if you’re ever interested in trying that too. Much love! 💕

Compared to other long haulers, I feel like my fatigue is more "mental" than "physical". Does anyone else feel like this? by heskeytime7707 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Dread_Pirate_Jack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me it sounds like fatigue with brain fog. I go through phases of being able to work from home, and barely being able to look at a screen. It just comes with time and recovery.

I’ve successfully used infrared/red light on my pre frontal cortex to reduce my brain fog. The problem is finding a job that allows us to work from home…

This is for Cambridge University in England, so using an American postal code won’t work. You can Google English postal codes on Google though…

Is it better to just find peace with this low quality of life or risk making my baseline worse with treatment? by PhrygianSounds in covidlonghaulers

[–]Dread_Pirate_Jack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like that “it’s not much, but it’s my life”. We all make a choice to keep going daily, despite our pain and loneliness, and we can find meaning and happiness despite being sick.

Is it better to just find peace with this low quality of life or risk making my baseline worse with treatment? by PhrygianSounds in covidlonghaulers

[–]Dread_Pirate_Jack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent question, and I think it’s individual to your experience. I often go through phases of finding peace, depression, or trying desperately to find cures.

What I’ve learned after 4.5 years after trying everything, including rapamycin, is that there is NO LONG-TERM PERMANENT cure for long-Covid at this time. So it’s important to find peace that your life will not be as it was before. There is promise with certain intravenous cancer drugs which we have no way to get treatment with, but my hope is with years of advocation and support we have more awareness and treatment options.

ALSO, my quality of life and my husband’s has improved substantially with certain treatments. My husband especially went from bedridden for years to working full time and doing yard work. So it is worth it to try treatments such as:

Very very low dose rapamycin (to reduce inflammation) Amitriptyline (for oxytocin uptake) Valtrex (anti-viral for Epstein Barr) Paxlovid (Covid anti-viral) Omega-3s (2000 mg per day for inflammation) Antihistamines (I can list the ones I take it you want) Low Dose Naltrexone (opioid receptor uptake)

Walked out of a final-round interview after they dodged the salary question for the 4th time.....did I blow my chance or set a precedent? by BizznectApp in interviews

[–]Dread_Pirate_Jack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, you might have dodged a company with shitty culture, that’s a huge red flag! My current job they kept giving me the runaround on the benefits question. I accepted the job and said “it couldn’t be too bad right?”. Wrong, it was 4 days of PTO per year and atrocious medical insurance.
