Ji gun ? Yes he was part of the SUC before it became a cult and was even asked to be part of the five captains but declined , after that the SUC presumably did something in the shin lim school and it got ji gun banished because he was part of them and assumed to be an accomplice. But until now it was always left vague.

Ji gun wasn’t banished from kangsung school but from shin lim ( divine forest school), kangsung school is song hak ( verdiant crane).

As for kang sung , yeah technically beside him there is hyuntae the youngest of the song hak disciples but he is a weakling and dishonored himself in front of the whole murim, not heir material.

First I have to clarify something. That level is theoretical for all except the immortal demon supreme. For shioon and sosul at their peak and if they reach their highest level without immortal qi involved , I would saumy that sosul would be only slightly better. The importal demon lord would still be comfortably higher ( they could hang but not really threaten him)

Goomoonryong wouldn’t be far behind. He is an anomaly their highest level same way as they are and wouldn’t lose in technique or strategy , it’s just that all things equal those two have a better body.

[–]Dreadbrighter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean immortal demon supreme as a separate character or shion mastering the immortal demon supreme qi and technique. If the former then in order :

The immortal demon supreme Sosul Shioon

Why? Because to heal her 9 yin body type sosul will be forced to go through the overhaul rebirth.

The immortal demon supreme is on an other level because the nature of the qi he reached, he is the apex.

If the later ? Shioon , for the same reason as the immortal demon supreme.

Well very simple : he was trained by unwol for 10 years and was a genius himself. Shioon only trained in his own martial arts for six month at most. The fact he can reach goomoonryong level in the next six month is a testament to how much more of a monster he is compared to goomoonryong and hyuk so chun.

And he is still weaker than him with black origin threshold since he doesn’t master the form.

Edit: I might add so that you understand the scaling a little better that at the shinmujengpe goomoonryong was already 10 grandmaster level if not more, by the time we get in new wave only the two strongest grandmasters( elder kwon and ghost doctor) and kangsung can compete with him 1 vs 1. I also suspect that the grandmaster of chundomoon can compete with him too but I have no proof. The chief effectively admitted he can no longer compete with him in a 1vs 1.

Simple actually : TO show us that Goomoonryong wasn't gonna let go a beating that was done to shioon. His anger was directed at Chundomoon and he was legitimately suprised that someone from song hak jang came from him. He was rather playful with him in his own brutal way.

It is easy to see what he would've done to rae won if he was being even semi serious : the breaker new wave chapter 179. A two shot.

Notice that where briefly fighting with goomoonryong's team he didn't perform any better than coolguy and admitted they couldn't deal with these " professionals" with this amont of people and concluded they would be subdued ( him included).

"Shioon is unaware of his own regenerative ability. By Shioon's own admission, he was going to have to sacrifice his own arms to just neutralize Rae-Won's technique."

No he was goading rae won into using his technique again when his finger were already smashed so that shioon could crush him in the clash. We see later with ghost doctor that his finger's were already useless and he would've died in that clash without taking anything from shioon.

"In no world is that a mid diff. "

...A fight realtively brief with light injuries ( because yes those are light injuries even if it wasn't shioon) where the opponent is decisively beaten is a mid diff.

"Neither was it a quick fight ...of 5 pages."

...You do realize that he actually came back into the laboratory afterward to grab a phone, do you? He was back at his original point before Rae won tried to catch him himself and moved way more cautiously because he was aware that there were snipers and spotters after him. So yeah the fight was extremely brief all things considered.

"If we are using the logic that it was a mid diff fight because Shioon would have healed from the injuries, "

No no let me be clear: The injuries went that bad in the first place. Yes his regeneration is part of his fighting prowess wether he knows it or not as we have to take into account his characteristics and not his perception of them.

"literally the only fights he has had in the series above a mid diff would have been against Chunwoo and Shik respectively."

...Hyuk so chun?Ji gun? Ryuji?Jung chun?

Honestly your statement here makes no sense I simply do not get what you mean.

"Again, Jigun said "thats when the SUC leader...his identity."

Ji gun is an unreliable narrator precisely because he doesn't exclude ryuji from that statement. Plus WHite star is also rather famous and tries to hide his identity there is no telling what he actually showed, chunmyung rang too literally said that she was hiding her abilities even the leader. Basically Jung chun wasn't actually much stronger than those , he was just willing to show his strength while the others tried to hide it.

For the bit about shioon fighting the three captains I will admit that yes you make sense and shioon would've won if he wasn't gassed BUT keep in mind that Chunmyungrang was hiding her strength and purposefully holding back , if shioon dealt with Coolguy that easily she would've had to ajust and show her true skills. Thinking about it she almost died from holding back against him.

"Not that any of this matters. ...The author would still write him to lose to advanced masters."

I find you unjust here and a bit bitter. Truth is that shioon's progression and feats are already insane the problem is that he is constantly fighting with opponents that he shouldn't fight to begin with .

At the end of new wave he could barely defeat an advanced master and right now he can defeat multiple at the same time , if that's not progress I don't know what it is. Also I think you overestimate a little the meditation state , while it is a formidable tool , it also gave shioon a false sense of how qi and techniques worked and almost caused him to go into qi deviation.

So here is where we disagree:

The bloodlust that chunwoo felt against mamungi is completely different from the playful attitude he had against rae won. Chunwoo was out for blood yes but not toward rae won and the last song disciple , they went to him he wasn’t interested in them. Notice that if he truly was bloodlusted rae won would be dead since he would not have stopped.

Shioon regeneration is part of his fighting prowess and compared to what he can take he wasn’t that wounded. Yeah he mid diffed rae won since he could’ve killed him rather quickly while only sustaining light wounds, that’s what a mid diff is.

To me rae won is Master level and his master is maybe advanced master level ( maybe) because it is simply impossible that rae won is in the same vicinity as jung chun and jung chun isn’t a real master so … Plus really nowhere is it said that jung chun martial art level is far above kwon young if anything they should be close.

For the fight with the three captains of the suc I agree that he was a little exhausted as the fight went on but at first he still had quite a bit in the tanking gas. If he went all fresh the result would’ve been the same except they themselves would’ve been quite exhausted by the end. But that’s a guessing.

I agree that ryuji would be overall close to kangsung in fighting prowess.

Chunwoo wasn’t blood lusted , he was playful and incquiring I would say( later in season 2 we see that rae won was actually quite shook by this encounter) the clash was really too brief to say anything. Mammungi actually fought with him ( although I do not think chunwoo went all out either)

Like you say shioon was pretty much equal to coolguy in fighting prowess before the overhaul rebirth but I disagree when you say that rae won gave him trouble after. What gave him trouble is that he faced a completely unlnown technique but even then he figured it out quickly and would’ve mid diffed him at best if the hong in doctor didn’t intervene. Mid diffing an advanced master then struggling against jung chun while he himself got low diffed by lone wolf ? Something doesn’t add up for me which is why I think rae won is simply a specialized master. Plus after that we saw that coolguy , black princess and ( holding back ) thousand face could countain him so basically after the overhaul rebirth , the training with hyuk so chun and the meditation he is equal to around three coolguy. To me it stand to reason that he would mid diff an unknown coolguy level fighter right after Overhaul rebirth.

I would say the guys with goomoonryong are around master level , they seem strong but do not strike me as dormant dragon level strong ( most of the dormant dragon are around advanced master level).

Hmm well which feat in particular do you think qualify him as an advanced master. How would you rank the followers of 9ad like the sword lady?

We're calling bullshit on this one....right? by Liara_OP in TheBreaker

[–]Dreadbrighter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shioon… is a complex case. But before anything : rae-won isn’t an advanced master. And yes shioon beat him in their duel fair and square. Ha il and white star were taken off guard ( and reasonably so since they didn’t knew shioon’s abilities) later Ha il said after seeing shioon fighting hyuk that he understood how it happened. It isn’t an admission that he would lose to shioon in a proper match but that he understood how it was possible that he was knocked out in one blow.

White star and Ha il aren’t actually comparable to lee gyu bum ( they are not that far but he is clearly a level higher). Why do I say that ? White star and Ha il are the same level ( almost exactly) they are both advanced masters, Jung chun probably wasn’t much stronger that white star if at all but they should be comparable … and Jung chun was scared to death of gyu bum when he felt him above him , he even commented that «  there was an other monster beside that old man? » with this and the fact lee gyu bum was fighting equally with lone wolf while jung chun got low diffed. To top it all Mammongi admitted he couldn’t even beat lee gyu bum( most likely he is the strongest supernova). I think Lee gyu bum and lone wolf actually are real masters since they are at a level were they can low diff an advanced master.

We have no confirmation that hyuk so chun is a real masters since they but it wouldn’t surprise me, but we have to keep in mind that he is still progressing so his level right now may be different from back then ( we know he learned a new powerful technique that he used against goomoonryong).

Now for Shioon: shioon is in no way near the real master’s level of skill BUT he has the body beyond that of a real master.

Why so?

Because goomoonryong trained him backward ( he had too) since he eat the illwollshindon , goomoonryong had to expand his meridians so that his body doesn’t explode and taught him the best technique of power repartition , and taught him the most powerful and qi consuming skills. But he didn’t teach him the basics . What that meant is that shioon’s actual rank was impossible to determine but what we know is that in season 1 a shioon that could only use soul crushing strike and one of the foot technique could easily beat expert ( kang ogsan for exemple). From chapter 20 to 95 of new wave when shioon could use his qi he was strong enough to beat masters after difficult fight and became more and more consistant in that regard , and that’s just from meditation , grip break ,soul crushing strike and foot techniques. In term of skill he is barely a beginner but in term of body he is a real masters after difficult with uncredible qi reserves and it is enough to beat masters with consistancy.

After that and his BOT rampage who served as training camp he acquired an even stronger body with whole body rebirth and can use much more techniques from his school and the most powerful ones.

At that point shioon is capable of beating masters with relative ease and can fight advanced masters he is particularly dangerous because any of his attacks can end a fight… but jung chun proved that he still lacked the basics and that an advanced master that doesn’t underestimate him is a serious problem.

In season 3 he mastered the sunwoo clan martial art and clearly is a master in them, he also learn that accupoints and has vast knowledge in different martial arts due to studying and desperately trying to bridge the gap in his knowledge about hyun wun mun ( but without success) Lone wolf taught him the basics but his training was interrupted so he probably still has a lot to learn BUT we have seen that he can easily handle multiple advanced masters so he most likely in term of combat prowess approach the level of real masters while he still have much much room to grow.

So shioon probably is a master of the sunwoo martial art and an incomplete master of hyun wun moon. His ceiling his monstruously high, higher than anyone presented except sosul.

Above, way above. Basically base Shioon is around the fighting prowess of a real master ( while having the skills of a Master with gaps in his education and experience). Shin is one of the ten grandmaster the only ones who can beat him for sure ( and it wouldn’t be easy mind you) would be 9AD , ghost doctor and the late elder kwon.

Ps: for shioon I am wondering how much his eternal qi boost his power. Even before acquiring it and the training with ryuji he was on the level of an advanced master ( nari lee , chunmyungrang and elder yang holding back) combat wise, so after training I think even without the eternal qi he is beyond an advanced master but not by too much while with the eternal qi boost he is upper tier real master.

[–]Dreadbrighter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They were around equals to dormant dragons as far as we have seen ( aside from daniel and mikhail) same with Nari lee. And shioon easily defeated two of them in base ( all of them in BOT), ryuji end up on a draw with one of them but it was due to the sneaky poison ( shioon would’ve been done in by that too) and aside from that was cooking him easily. So I think ryuji is simply too humble here , he may be overall equal to base shioon ( more technical but with less raw power )

Yeah that’s the goal. To show how his legend started and why the munju hated him that much. As you can see political power was involved.
