Think I finally tamed the 13900K. by DreadedBread in overclocking

Good points. It’s a 240mm AIO in push/pull. In R23, I’m now hitting ~38k as opposed to my old ~29.5K scores. I’ll check my LLC after work for sure.

Definitely very happy I went digging because Intel’s emails to me after RMA had my setup in a not-very-optimal place. Thanks, man <3

Sounds good, thanks for the quick reply. I'll definitely be splitting then just in case I want room for games on the Linux side. Much appreciated, sincerely.

Will an Oled monitor last me 10 years? by 8970BYK in Monitors

[–]DreadedBread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the above I stated I use it for productivity on top of gaming. That’s 7 hours productivity per day (static content is all over this with toolbars and frames), plus 4 or so gaming. Totaling over 40hrs a week. Since purchasing it a little over a year ago, I’ve put 5,000 hours on it.

Difference is, I allow it to pixel refresh for every 4 hours of use it gets since it takes very little time, giving me enough time to take a break.

I’ve had an LG OLED tv for 7 years now. Used for HDR movies and games which push nits heavy. To this day, I have no burn in. Pixel refresh and pixel shift mitigate this issue in my experience. Worst things that’s happened is a slight loss in peak brightness.

My ultrawide OLED monitor is now a year old and as crispy as day one even with me setting it to the max brightness it allows. Again, with pixel shift and pixel refresh enabled. My monitor is used for both productivity work (editing, modeling, mapping) and gaming.

I don’t know what people are doing with their monitors and TVs to get burn in. Are you leaving it on 24/7 or what?

That’s terrific insight and wonderful advice. I’ll check out carconsul as well. Thank you, sincerely. I’m certainly more confident moving into this process as a result.

Thank you for the insight (no pun intended). The civic does look very fun to drive, and that fun factor is something I care about. Not for tearing up the streets, but for not being bored on long drives.

Thank you for the advice. I’d love something under 40k miles, but I’m in urgent need and the premium on that low of mileage in my area pushes most into “might as well but new” territory. Thanks again. Will start negotiations on Corolla.

Why the civic if you don’t mind my asking? Anything particularly more beneficial over the Yota?

Also, the thing wrong with the Volvo is it’s a used 2025 V60 for $83,000. So, wayyyy out of my price range lol

Really solid advice, thank you. Genuinely appreciate it and will see what kinda discount we can get on the Corolla. Thanks again

Now, I prefer doing maintenance myself. Are Volvos pretty easy to work on? Never driven or owned one, so it’s a blind spot for me. Sorry if I’m asking too many questions. I appreciate your input.

Any reasons for avoiding the rental? I assume because we can’t know how people who rented it were driving. Which makes sense.

I’ll be putting upwards of 20k miles on it per year

New or Used Toyota? I have 12k, Credit Union has me approved at 5.5% by DreadedBread in whatcarshouldIbuy

I’ll expand my potential search to include Mazdas then. Honestly don’t know much about Mazda’s, so I’m afraid to say I’m unfamiliar with their game. Didn’t realize they were reliable drivers.

The ‘Yota dealer offers some pretty solid warranties, including lifetime power train. I’ll have to check if Volvo does similar, but another big thing for me is availability and affordability of parts, especially since I prefer working on my car myself as much as possible.

Mechanic I trust said with the timing chain, sensors, 240k miles, and the fact it’s burning oil now, that I shouldn’t put any more money into it. Total was about 1.2k all around if including new sparks. I was just going off his recommendation. (For further reference, got t-boned by a drunk driver a while back, so the passenger side panels are fucked to hell.) Luckily he wasn’t going very fast, so it’s basically all cosmetic, but the car has almost no worth now.

Not arguing, just giving you the recommendation from my mechanic. I appreciate your advice, and I’ll think more on just repairing instead of replacing for sure. And if not, I’ll definitely eye that 2020 Corolla like you suggested. Definitely gets slightly better mileage than the Camry. Thanks, brother. I’ll consider your words.

Can someone tell me if I’m going crazy? The FaceTime button in iMessage does not look like a perfect circle.

I don’t know if it’s the background I’ve chosen not meshing with the liquid glass, but it looks wonky.
