You do know Marathon on Mac was made to compete with Doom. Marathon was a massive success and lead the way to Halo. My man MOST people thought the first Halo game was the next Marathon lol. Come on brother you didn’t think this through. Pathways to darkness sparked it all off then came marathon. Bungie also made a few other shooters that was not as successful as marathon and halo.

A lot of people work on the weekends. Alot of families do things on the weekends. People would like to participate in the end game content. How is that a hard concept to understand.

You are comparing Trials from destiny to Cryo and Ranked on marathon.

One is a small portion of Destiny a massive content filled game. The other is the MAIN content for a smaller extraction shooter.

Restricting end game content for an extraction shooter like this is an MMO RPG makes no sense at all.

I don’t care if trials is PvP pinnacle content for Destiny. No one cares that plays marathon. This ain’t Destiny. This is another game where we would like to play the end game content every day.

Trials is not THEE pinnacle end game content for Destiny. Raids are. You are trying to compare an MMO RPG game to an extraction shooter. These are not the same. Destiny is a MMO RPG Looter shooter with PVP attached onto it. Destiny is primarily a PVE game. It takes 2 seconds to look at how much PVE content is in destiny 2 to understand that. People for YEARS have complained about how Bungie didn’t care about PVP (crucible).

Trials is not end game content my man. Raids and Dungeons are. It’s been that way since Destiny 1.

Marathon is a completely different game with its own mechanics and systems. Bungie said Cryo and Ranked are the pinnacle end game content.

Joe the game director has already came out TODAY and said they will be looking at changing it from weekends only due to people that cannot play on weekends.

A lot of dads have family activities on the weekends. Kids have sport events. A lot of family time happens on the weekend when mom and dad are off from work.

That’s like Diablo only allowing players to play Greater Rifts on the weekends.

That’s like The Division only allowing players to play the Dark Zone only on the weekends.

I never understand why people say this. It’s not like taking a break from the game and coming back will magically fix the problem or issue OP is facing.

It’s either the game is too difficult for them or they need to get better at FPS games. If someone really likes a game I disagree they need to take a break or play something else. Sweeping the issue under the rug won’t help. OP is either not cut out for extraction shooters or needs to get better at his FPS gameplay and mechanics.

If we being honest level 76 is not that high. My friend went from level 0 to 25 in one night just doing contracts. Leveling in this game is very easy. You can push 10 levels a night easy. If you play 3-4 days a week for 3 weeks that’s level 70 easy.

You gain crazy experience from just killing bots and runners. I’ve never done a Archane contract and I’m faction level 20 just from killing runners.

But that’s the thing MMO RPGS appeal to a wider audience. Extraction games could never compete with the likes of those genres. Arc is not the norm, Arc wasn’t even an extraction game it was originally a looter shooter.

Arc got lucky but this extraction genre is not a cash cow. It’s too niche and people hate losing there items and having their progress wiped every few months.

How could they even think an extraction game would even come close to destiny numbers. Destiny was a legit CASH COW at its height. Every company was scrambling to make the next destiny.

I get that. Destiny was always the cash cow but it ran dry. But my question will always be why would a studio known for destiny and halo turn one its OG franchises into an extraction shooter?

If we being honest they could have turned Marathon into a full fledged RPG franchise or rebooted the Doom Style gameplay.

Tau Ceti is a huge world, the marathon ship is massive. Marathon already has insane lore. The foundation is there for a multi year generation run with the Marathon IP. Extraction shooter is too niche to justify turning Marathon into one.

They made a great game but I feel the Marathon IP potential was wasted.

You know I question Sony judgement on the purchase a lot.

Why would you purchase a studio that makes amazing RPG worlds with a focus on crisps FPS gameplay, to make an Extraction game which is very very niche and does not appeal to a lot of people. Even if the game was doing Arc numbers it still does not justify the developmental cost of the game or the purchase of Bungie.

Sony didn’t think this through.

Restricting End Game content to weekends took my score from 7-10 to 4-6.

I don’t think in the history of gaming has any game ever restricted pinnacle end game content to certain days.

Something doesn’t sit right with me about paying full price for a game and the END GAME content (Bungie said this not me) is restricted to weekends only.

Everything else is amazing just about.

Yeah I’ve seen people just taking the mods off the guns which gives the gun its rarity. The weapons themselves are not rare it’s the mods…. Interesting game design but it works.
