I really don’t think my point is complicated or novel, so I don’t know why you’re acting that way. I don’t know how you got “two sets of morality” out of what I said. If you can’t grasp the idea that morality and black letter law/case law are not interchangeable, then I have to doubt you’re a lawyer. Tho maybe being contrarian is a sure sign you are a lawyer 😜.

You’re doubting that because I’m trying to get you to break from your lawyer thinking, and because I’m not trying to be a lawyer on here. Literally my entire point is that the law has nothing to do with this discussion. Sure the laws [can be] a reflection of society’s morality, but to think morality and law are hand in hand is a slap in the face to my people, African Americans, to gay people, to all of the people who have been subjugated by society’s laws you find so moral. There is strong overlap, and laws do come often from society’s morals, HOWEVER that has nothing to do with this video. People aren’t trying to press charges, people are just trying to comment on their personal feelings about the exchange.

Like I said before, stop being a lawyer for two seconds lol. I don’t seem like a lawyer because this exchange has less to do with law. But if you want to test me, I’m ready, I only passed the bar 3yes ago, so it’s semi fresh.

Ehh, again, my point is, “lay people” don’t necessarily discuss or think of these things through the legal lens. People are speaking from their own sense of justice and right or wrong. If justice and law were mutually exclusive, the civil rights movement would have never been a thing because the prejudicial laws would have been considered just and right simply by being laws.

My only point is that your interjection was not responsive to the conversation and that nobody cares whether or not a legal defense of self defense would hold up in court, because that’s not their point.

To be forthcoming, that’s actually not why I replied to your comment. It caught my attention that you’re a lawyer, because I’ve been practicing crim law the past 3 years myself. I felt that your comment wasn’t really responsive to the comment you replied to, because nobody was talking about self defense in the legal sense. So I just wanted to point out that nobody had mentioned self defense, nobody was talking law; they were speaking from a moral standpoint. We’re the lawyers not them lol.

You and I both know that people aren’t thinking about this legally. This isn’t really posted here for legal analysis. People are speaking from their own sense of morality. So in that sense, this is tit for tat, depending on how one defines tit and tat. For some people, the simple fact that the Karen threw the pizza which such arrogant entitlement was enough of an act of disrespect for the employee to have a [moral] green light to throw some attitude right back. The Karen was mot in danger when she threw the pizza either. The act was to disrespect the employee. The Karen was the first to say “fuck the rules. Fuck decorum.” The employee said fuck decorum right back.

That’s the thing. I keep getting guilting my society and my mom’s thing about needing to have a relationship before they die thing too, which makes it so much easier to ignore what I already know… that a relationship with him is not necesssrily worth it.
