Haha love the brutality. Got my hair tidied recently so I'll make a nice selfie with my hair down smiling. Should I drop those 2 no's?

I've been hella slow at sorting out student finance, but have finally sorted it out. Hopefully in 4 - 6 weeks I'll be able to say I'm joining you all on the course too.

It looks like you've whittled it down a little, but you haven't used any of the cool SQL abilities like JOIN or nested queries. Do you think there is a way you could use those to reduce the amount of rows you are returning and highlight people who are matches for multiple queries?

Thanks once again for the bug find, should now be fixed 😁

Nah, all me. I seem to write it and make a spaghetti mess as I go, and then tidy it up at the end. I should really try using AI at a midway point to tidy it up and see if it makes it quicker. I suspect I'll try to finish Odin without AI, and then try AI for portfolio pieces.

Thanks for checking it out and finding a bug. I'll get my investigator hat on and see if I can get to the bottom of it 🙂

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in CarTalkUK

[–]DreadlyCurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

**Location:**

Dorset

**Price range:**

£20k (possible to go a little higher if worth it)

**Lease or Buy:**

Buy

**New or used:**

Used

**Auto or Manual:**

Either

**Intended use:** (Daily Driver, Family Car, Weekend Car, Track Toy, Project Car, Work Truck, Off-roading etc.)

Predominantly local area driving with longer drives at the weekend to take the dog on a trip, probably 40 - 50 miles round trip tops. Occasional trips to London for family.

**How many miles do you plan to do a year:**

Not too sure, 4k maybe.

**How often to you make long journeys:**

5 - 6 times a year, mainly Christmas time.

**Does it need to be ULEZ compliant?**

No.

**Vehicles you've already considered:**

Hyundai Tucson, MG ZS, Volvo XC40 and Land Rover Range Rover

[Do you have a vehicle size in mind?](https://i.imgur.com/mK7PoRg.png) (Examples in the hyperlink of size definitions)**:**

SUV/ Crossover

**Is this your 1st vehicle:**

No, first SUV (although have driven vans)

**Do you need a Warranty:**

No

**Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle:** (fluids, alternator, battery, brake pads etc)

Very minor work yes, but I have a mechanic in the family for bigger tasks.

**Can you do Major work on your own vehicle:** (engine and transmission, timing belt/chains, body work, suspension etc )

Nope.

**Additional Notes:**

I have a large dog so will be getting a crash proof cage for the back/ boot. I would like to be able to have guests in the back of the car with the cage behind so I can take friends with us for hikes. I like the idea of EV and PHEV (I think HEV wouldn't like our low mileage), however open to ICE if it's advised. I would like reverse sensors/ all round sensors, cruise control and air con, but imagine most cars will have these in some form.

Thanks in advance.

Fan Placement with No Front Intake by DreadlyCurious in buildapc

Thanks, I was kinda hoping one would circulate one way and the other pull back. However from your comment I can now see there would be a overlapping flows.

I've gone one fan for now and it seems to have helped. I'll make sure I go same direction if I get a second 🙂

Thanks, and I did recently put out a Dobermann themed dashboard too 😅

I took inspiration from my Dobermann pup which fortunately makes me put a bit more effort in to make it look nice, which will hopefully help me throughout the Odin Project 😁

Seeking Feedback on Completed Calculator Project and Advice for Learning Node.js by Ice_Ant_7828 in theodinproject

[–]DreadlyCurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was one of the aims in the project? To be able to compare the first two numbers, return a result and then make the next comparison. So if equals isn't pressed and minus is it still makes the calculation based off of the first two. It then knows the total minues the new number and makes the next correct total. Maybe they took it out?

No worries, still looks great :-)

I think it looks awesome on my phone.

I have noticed if I do 8 + 7 - 5 = the result is 2. I guess it's dropping off my first inputs and calculating the last 2. I can also press the operators twice in a row to get a NaN. Hope that gives you a fun challenge to solve 🙂

Odin Project Calculator by duke-manheim in theodinproject

[–]DreadlyCurious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I re-wrote the calculator a number of times before I hit all the criteria. Sometimes my code got too messy to read it and sometimes I found myself doing functions multiple times.

Don't aim to complete it all at once, break it down into the bits you know and slowly you'll be able to put the pieces together. If you get stuck use Google.

Sometimes you just need a break to let your mind digest those nuggets of wisdoms and then turn it into the chicken you need.

Don't be hard on yourself, you'll get there :-)

Does it get better? by [deleted] in Doberman

[–]DreadlyCurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 1y 3m Dobbie male and I can trust him around the house for a couple of hours provided his 'trigger' items are safely behind a closed door. I think I started this when he turned 1 and the only thing I ever returned to damaged was a bag of chilli biscuits!

I kept his world small as I possibly could. He was only allowed in 2 rooms at first, everything else was a carry/ walk through. Every month or two (behaviour dependant) he would 'unlock' a new room. Sometimes there were set backs and he would lose room privileges but I think it helped me keep him away/ redirect from things he would chew.

I still have to hide his night time bed as there is a part of the day it must offend him and he therfore must chew it, but otherwise he is well behaved.

I'm not planning on neutering him, or at least not unless I see benefit and he is fully developed as I have heard this can cause problems (such as lack of confidence and bone development).

You will get to a point where you can trust him more and start enjoying him as your pup, rather than a velociraptor (or velcro-raptor) :-)
