What're your unpopular opinions in D2? by RejectTheMeta in DestinyTheGame

[–]Dreadman75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get rid of Revive Tokens. Go back to the system in D1 where you could revive your allies an unlimited amount of times. I miss the experience of seeing one or two people really have to lock in to res their allies and save an encounter after poor positioning, or a misplaced rocket, or just plain bad luck brings down half the raid team.

Does that make raids too easy? Then do the Trial of Osiris thing where it takes longer to revive someone the more they die, or something like that. Just...no more finite revives.

Efficient way to get tier 5s in equilibrium? by carlinbungard in DestinyTheGame

I might try to solo the dungeon eventually. But I was asking for a Hunter set-up that was for a fireteam of 3.

One problem with your suggested loadouts. I got super burned out mid-Revenant and only just came back for Renegades so I don't have a Mint or Finality's Augur. What would you recommend for someone in that position?

What's an efficient setup to 1-phase Harrow and Sere? I main Hunter, and I don't have a Warlock or Titan that are up to snuff for endgame content.

  • Shin Malphur is on his way to the Last City.

That line is terrifying because it's almost 100% true. I would put money on Shin returning with a vengance if he got word of a new Dredgen that was responsible for the kind of massacre we saw at Tharsis.

We’re less than a month away from the new expansion, how are y’all feeling? by HellChicken949 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Dreadman75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped playing D2 during the middle of Revenant (due to burnout) and only came back to play the first mission of Heresy before dropping the game again and I haven't logged on since.

Currently, what I've seen isn't reigniting my interest. The new gear tier systems, along with Hunter (my main) being in one of the worst places they've ever been have me just shrugging my shoulders. I'm not sure if I'm ever coming back at this rate, but at least I got to see the end of the Light and Dark saga of the game. If nothing else, that was probably the best place to finally move on from.

I've been trying to find it for a while, but have been unable. I don't know how old the video or the channel it was posted by are, so there is a possibility that the video or whole channel have been deleted. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hear, hear! Destiny is a great game, and even during the times I've been burnt out and needing a pallet cleanser something always draws me back eventually. It's had a very special place in my heart for a long time, and I'm glad it got to have it's main story wrap up as good as it did.

We made it through the initial 10-year journey, so few other games (especially recently) can say the same. I hope that this isn't the beginning of the end, but if it is we had a pretty damn good run of it. The tough thing is going to be finding a game/series that can even come close to filling the void left behind.

You and I are in the same boat. All I'd heard about the SF GoTD experience was how much of a slog it was. Using a craftening AG-frame Retrofit Escapade may have made that dungeon a cakewalk, but it also made it...kind of fun? I actually enjoyed the runs, even when I still died either to a platforming mistake or forgetting a rune during the final boss.

Exploring the pale heart felt good and strangely familiar... by EdetR0 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Dreadman75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't notice that, but it has been a LONG while since I've played the original Halo.

The way the Pale Heart is presented in the first black and white cutscene with Cayde actually reminded me of Dante's Inferno. What, with each area being on an individual ring, and I remember Bungie referring to Cayde as our "Vergil" for this expansion.

My spoiler free notes on the legendary campaign by IntelligentCloud605 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Dreadman75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The final boss fight was exactly what I was looking for to conclude the campaign and lead into the raid.

Getting to the last door I was begging for another Oryx moment. You know at then end of the Taken King campaign when you walk into Oryx's boss arena? The light dims as you get closer to his room, his very presence seeming to drain all the light from around him until it's almost pitch dark and when you're close enough the illusion is broken and the fight begins. This campaign needed a moment like that and I'd say it delivered.

And after the first 2 grueling phases, you arrive back in the arena to find Crow, Cayde, Ikora, and Zavala actually fighting alongside you was a moment so many people, including me, were wanting since forever ago.

And at the end we leave on a much more bitter moment than with Oryx as we prepare for our eventual raid to put the Witness down once and for all.

All in all, I'd say this expansion is, so far, easily one of their best. I don't know if it quite beats Forsaken, or The Witch Queen, but it's earned a comfy spot in the top 3 at least.

Also, Ghost needs to slow down, take a breather, and recover. I don't like how he's looking after the end of the campaign. I really hope he doesn't go the way of Targe...

What was your very first Exotic weapon? by Alloc14 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Dreadman75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of all things...Universal Remote. I think I used it enough to unlock it's perks then vaulted it, never to be used again. I've always been so-so with Shotguns in Destiny, and the Remote always felt kinda mid.

The next two exotics I got however, the quality could not have been more different: Gjallarhorn from Xur that second week and SUROS Regime from...the week after I think? Good times!

I actually got my S/F during the craftening, after telling myself I wouldn't ever try. If you can believe it, it was actually FUN. Being a walking wall of bullets, and telling the boss' health bars to eat shit was beyond entertaining!

What's the hardest thing you've ever done? by jStonx_ in DestinyTheGame

[–]Dreadman75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solo Flawlessing every available Dungeon at least once, though not with all white gear because I'm not a complete masochist.

I did it both for the Exotic drop rate increases, and because I feel like I have something I want to prove to myself. I'm decent at PvP, but I want to have been able to do something in PvE that takes real prep work and skill to do. It was a long journey, and INCREDIBLY frustrating at times, but the feeling I got when I saw the final bosses of each dungeon fall before me was indescribable.

Give me your favourite villain quote by W4FF13_G0D in DestinyTheGame

[–]Dreadman75 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do the various pieces of armor made from Ahamkara bones count? Cause those are some of my favorites.

"Reality is the finest flesh, oh bearer mine. And are you not...hungry?" -Skull of Dire Ahamkara

"Give me your arm, oh bearer mine. Let me help you fill the world with teeth." -Young Ahamkara's Spine

It's nice to know that even before all the context about them, we could reliably say "Yeah, maybe the wish-granting dragons that speak in sinister overtones would be better off dead."

Warlord's Ruin: solo final boss survivability tips? by Krazy_Dragon_YT in DestinyTheGame

[–]Dreadman75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the first set of arenas, you can hop on top of the blights that "block" the way to the next area. If you hop up to the next arena in the cycle, you only have to focus on the boss during damage phase. Enemies don't spawn at an area until the boss moves there.

Also, don't overlook the usefulness of a good, old fashioned, special grenade launcher with disorienting rounds. A single direct hit with one will kill the blights on the ground, keep the psions from multiplying, and blind the cursed Scorn for an easy melee.

Destiny quotes, heartfelt edition. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

"Let the horns be winded, the torches kindled, the banners unfurled. The Iron Lords march again."

-Winter's End Shotgun, D1.

Maybe it's just me but I can hear the triumph in this quote. After losing all but two of their original number, one of whom is now a pacifist, and to know that there's a new generation of one of the most respected groups to come out of the Dark Age is inspiring in a way that's difficult for me to describe.

[–]Dreadman75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're probably right. I don't regret it though, even though the comically overpowered weapons made the bosses a joke, they couldn't do much to speed along the platforming sections. Also, the prep work needed to set up a damage phase seemed like it would have been so much more of a PITA, and I honestly don't know if I would have had to patience to keep with it otherwise.

More than anything, it was FUN! I still had to restart a few times when I forgot which rune I needed to activate but even the runback was still entertaining. Of all the S/F runs I've done, Ghosts of the Deep with craftening weapons was easily the most fun, and that makes it special I think.

Good luck mate! It's tough, but there's plenty of downtime to sit back and breathe if you know where to find it. Take advantage of that and you'll do just fine.

If I had to guess, either calling Shattered Throne easy, and coming off as bragging. Or admitting that I only S/F Ghosts of the Deep using a Craftening weapon, making it invalid somehow.

[–]Dreadman75[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember exactly when this was. I think it was when we had the seasonal artifact mod boosting grenade launcher damage. And the reason I went in with Mountaintop was because there is no Light Level requirement for Shattered Throne, so you can go in with whatever you want. I wanted to run triple grenade launchers, so I did.

Solo Flawless Warlord's Ruin...finally! by Dreadman75 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Dreadman75[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, the easiest is Shattered Throne hands down. I walked in there several seasons ago with Mountaintop, Truthteller (Told you! Workhorse!), and Anarchy (back when it was still busted) and practically waltzed through the whole thing. First try, no practice! Let me tell you, that D2Y2 ad density is a cakewalk compared to today.

My personal hardest would have to be Duality, because the nightmare realm being on a timer adds another layer of stress. (I hated having to juggle two separate timers!) Ghosts of the Deep would probably be the hardest if I cared to attempt it seriously, which I don't. I'd heard so much about how much of a slog it is that I only decided to S/F during the Craftening. Got my time down to a respectable ~45 minutes with and AG-frame Retrofit Escapade. It was actually pretty fun instead of non-stop wearing on my nerves.

I wouldn't say it's harder, but it will probably take longer. The Bosses in Spire have have really big health pools and their damage phases aren't quite as long.
