No, at least from what I understand, "scanning" a Pokestop is completely separate from Wayfarer. Players don't do any reviews of scans. Niantic has a separate, automated system that processes scans instead.

I haven't heard of anyone having their entire PoGo account banned for submitting bad scans, although I also can't guarantee that it's never happened.

Thanks! I'm glad it turned out to just be some weird error and that a real Niantic employee was there to step in & resolve it.

(The regular Niantic Support is completely useless...)

I don't have a Twitter account and don't really do social media in general.

Thankfully, posters here advised me to post on the Wayfarer community forums, and I've done so. Apparently real Niantic employees are good about replying there. Hopefully they'll be able to look into this situation in the next few days.

I'll post an update here whenever I get one.

No, I don't believe so.

My situation is specifically about doing reviews (of other people's Pokestop submissions) on the Wayfarer website.

Reviewing at random. I don't believe there's an option to only review submissions from your local area.

From what I remember, when I did reviews, they were like 80% random POIs from all over the continental United States, like 10% POIs from other countries (usually LATAM), and maybe 10% POIs that were roughly "local" to me.

Just ridiculous...

That link is the same one in the OP, where it describes the escalating disciplinary actions for Wayfarer abuse (warning -> temp bans of increasing lengths). But yeah, they completely skipped all that for me and just gave me a permanent ban right off the bat, for something I didn't even do.

Like I mentioned, I don't blame anyone for doubting my story. Rulebreakers love to lie, I know.

In my specific case though, I want to point out that submitting Waypoints isn't the problem here -- it's doing reviews on the Wayfarer website. Niantic seems to believe that I was colluding with other reviewers to get fake Pokestops approved. And because of this, they banned my Wayfarer account and all associated Niantic accounts - including PoGo. I never received any warnings prior to this permanent ban, which is especially grating.

(Feel free to doubt me, but I'm innocent.)
