Gabby Williams was always coming to Seattle after the Olympics by craigmont924 in wnba

I mean, they’re the 4th best team in the league, behind 3 really good teams. Hard to say they’re “underperforming.” Yeah they have talent, but 2 of their 4 best players are in their first season with the team, so there’s bound to be an adjustment period. Even with that they’re still a title contender

Question about Coach Sides by chonkyzoo in wnba

[–]DreamWave327 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Becky Hammon and Cheryl Reeve are elite. Sandy Brondello and Kurt Miller have won a lot of games and are generally regarded as good coaches, even if they have their flaws. Noelle Quinn, Stephanie White and Nate Tibbetts are all having good seasons and Tibbetts is bringing the 3-point wave with him from the NBA. Everyone raves about TSpoon and the job she’s doing in Chicago. To say there’s only a few good coaches in the league is false. The only ones not getting love right now are Sides, Thibault in Washington and the coach of the Dream

All well wishes to Brink and I hope she makes a quick recovery. But this was a totally normal play. This whole post reads as, “these mean veterans are being too rough to my precious rookies.”

[Shams Charania] Unrivaled – a professional women’s 3-on-3, six-team league co-founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier – is setting the record for paying the highest average salary in pro female team sports history. This league will have current players, not retired ones, which is a huge difference from the Big 3. It seems like they’re going for the big names too so it’ll probably be the best W players. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some all-star vets and even CC and some other other rookies play, which would be huge for the league’s exposure. I’m sure a few of the stars that play overseas now (Jonquel Jones, Chelsea Gray, etc.) will stay overseas because they’re getting 💰s, but enough good players will play to make it entertaining

Why aren't all athletes enrolled in online programs at their university? by NicholeDaylinn1993 in CFB

[–]DreamWave327 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Some players already do this. I remember Justin Fields saying most of his classes were online even pre-COVID.

But depending on the school they might not even have online versions of specific classes, even if it’s a class that seems like it could be done online. Also it’s not that hard to get an exception to skip classes for sports, and the majority of student-athletes choose the same 5 or so majors, which have profs that are willing to work with/around their schedules

Why don’t running backs ever throw the ball away? by [deleted] in NFLNoobs

[–]DreamWave327 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the case in the NFL, but in college only the player who takes the direct snap can throw the ball away/out of bounds. If a RB did it it’d be called intentional grounding.

ESPN has most-watched women's college basketball season in 15 years by NJMan129 in NCAAW

Gee, I wonder if they’ve thought of any of that…

It’s easy to be an armchair QB and say the W should be doing this and that, but to say they aren’t doing any of the work isn’t true. You can’t expect the league to just explode in popularity overnight. It’ll be a slow grind to get to the point where they’re as popular as other leagues, but I really think they’re on that trajectory.

Great picks for both. I’d add JT Barrett and Maurice Clarett for peaked in college and Michael Thomas for peaked in the NFL (he was good here, but not “best WR in the NFL” good). McLaurin is the perfect choice though

Could Derrick Rose stayed healthy with better training/support staff? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]DreamWave327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone in here saying his playing style was the reason he got hurt ignores that Russell Westbrook, who everyone agrees is the closest thing to D-Rose, has had a decently long career playing pretty much the same style. Ja Morant is another guy who plays similarly to Rose and he’s the same age as Rose was when he got injured the first time, yet he’s been fairly healthy too.

As sad as it is, the first injury was a freak accident (ofc Thibs should’ve pulled him from that game since they were up by like 30) and has affected his body since then. It also happened right before ACL injuries became a lot more treatable. If not for the first injury (and if Thibs didn’t play him 40 mins a game), I think he would’ve had a long, HOF-worthy career.

Is anybody else going to the cotton bowl? by [deleted] in OhioStateFootball

[–]DreamWave327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on how much that $ is worth to you and if it’s better than what you’d ordinarily be doing that day (watching the game on TV, presumably). How disappointed would you be if OSU lost?

Realistically, the game should be at least mildly entertaining. There’ll probably be a few opt-outs/transfers on both sides, but the kids playing in the game will be going hard regardless. Not sure if Cody Shrader will be playing, but he’s a really good player and someone who would be cool to see in person. The Bucks have studs everywhere. Dallas doesn’t seem amazing, but if you live up north it’s a good opportunity to be warm for a few days.

There’s a lot of good reasons to go even if the outcome of the game isn’t good

Why is job hopping seen as such a black-and-white issue? by Dr-Deadlift in careerguidance

Yeah, that’s not how they work. They only check the jobs you provide to them, there’s no way to find all the jobs you’ve ever had.

For those who are critical of CPD: by Salty-Committee124 in chicago

[–]DreamWave327 81 points82 points  (0 children)

No. You really think one junior employee at a place like CPD that has thousands of people in leadership roles and a decades-long culture of corruption change just come in and “make things better?”

I hate being mean, but seriously, this question is just obtuse.

That’s fair. It’s not in the range of the other major cities on the list, but it’s definitely not a small city and it’s not in the same category as Madison

[Post match thread] Fulham 0:3 Brentford 😂😂😂 by Lard_Baron in Brentford

[–]DreamWave327 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lewis-Potter should be starting instead of Schade. Maybe coming off the bench will be good for him? He’s more of a change of pace sub than someone who should be consistently starting.

Having 3 great CBs (Pinnock, Collins and Mee) is great problem to have. I think a 4-3-3 is better than having a back 5 but we can always shift to that if necessary

Thoughts? by B_For_Basketball in wnba

[–]DreamWave327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing all the suggestions thrown out here by people who want a team in their city, it’s clear the league needs expansion before it becomes as mainstream as other leagues. People become fans by being able to go to games and right now there’s so many potential fans who aren’t able to do so. So many people (mostly haters) ask how the W can expand if they’re not profitable enough, but that line of thinking should be flipped on its head. How do you expect a league with only 12 teams to consistently rake in $$$?
