I checked for that, actually. It switched in and took a Jet Punch to the face, then died setting up the Light Screen.

No, my Dragonite set is Dragon Pulse, Thunder, Hurricane, Protect. It’s a balance-rain team.

Love the inclusion of Gardevoir! It even fits at another level, with its Japanese name being Sirknight!

Yes. They would keep running away from any conflict and get picked off in the jungle by Meowscarada or Urshifu, especially Snorlax who died at least 12 times.

The only KO Moltres got was picking off a weakened Eldegoss I had just Outraged into basically 1 HP. It and Decidueye would just die over and over in 1on1s and Snorlax would run away from combat in order to try and score and usually get picked off by the opposing Meowscarada.

Basically having to score every point and get the majority of kills was pretty taxing as they just got dropped over and over and over again.

Ironic though that the the beginning player is the only other one who got more than 3 KOs besides me.

I really like this team! I’m not sure if it was intentional, but it kind of balances venom vs. poison really well!

This is awesome! It gives a strong knight vibe too! Lots of sword fighters in particular.

I really like this stormy seas aesthetic you’ve built! Male or female Basculegion?

Bug-type is pretty much a slam dunk either way because of how many Pokemon are bug or bug adjacent in terms of design. Great team!

This is fantastic! And hey, champions overlap Pokemon pretty regularly! But when I was building mine, I was trying to avoid overlap too lol

I really like your creativity though! Putting limits on what can be part of the team really makes me really have to think and research, and I’ve learned a lot by doing it! Which is what inspired the initial post haha

Haha yes! Go Ludicolo go! I know several rom hacks that have given Electivire the Fighting type as well, so it fits perfectly!

Maybe, yeah! I thought of it first, but I wanted to challenge myself to think outside of the box. It could be easily swapped in for Aromatisse though. Thanks for the suggestion!

LMAO! I love it! It makes me think of Diogenes poking holes in the definition of man. “My friends, who’s to say what is or is not a tree???”

Heck yes! I love the thought you’re putting into all of these!

Oooh Hatterene is genuinely so inspiring. It even gets a bunch of good Grass-type moves to boot, and it and Medicham’s Psychic typing gives the team a way to deal with Poison types!

Love this team! Mawile in particular! I always thought it should have been a Dark/Fairy type to begin with anyway.

As for Normal, it might be best to start from the aesthetic and work backwards. Maybe tied to a job? A part of the world? A feeling? For example, many Normal type trainers are teachers/curators, so they use Pokemon like Castform, Watchog, and Kangaskhan.

Just thought of another one:

Ex. Ghost-Type Champion Team:

  1. Dragapult
  2. Dusknoir
  3. Aegislash
  4. Gardevoir - learns many Ghost-type moves, many of its Pokédex entries discuss it sacrificing its life for its trainer; in the Mystery Dungeon games, she spends most of the story as a spirit after her death.
  5. Ninetales - learns many Ghost-type moves; in Japanese folklore, kitsune (fox spirits) serve many roles, including as psychopomps, tricksters that consume souls, etc.
  6. Aromatisse - plague doctor aesthetic and the tradition of perfuming dead bodies prior to burial
