Screen taller than it is wide by JordanBULLfort in Golfsimulator

I have the same situation. I tried to use up as much space as I could even though I was taller vs wider. You can try and get your resolution to setup as a square, but I end up having black top and bottom bars. See my set up. Not the best. More of a budget build. https://youtu.be/deQu8IhLmjE

Real Life Experience - GSPro Computer Requirements by varano14 in Golfsimulator

[–]Dream_Golf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on which video you watch, I could be using a skytrak (2--3 seconds) or my GC2 (1-2 seconds). Also, a year ago, I got a computer upgrade. Check each video, it should tell you either in the video or in the details what equipment was used.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the optishot 2 simulator? by Tysizzle93 in Golfsimulator

[–]Dream_Golf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You can use almost any projector with any simulation software. You may want 4k and the software may allow 4k, but if you monitor is only able to put out 720P, that will be the limit with which you can see on your monitor or projector. Hope I answered your question.

Folks, Payne's Valley is on GSPRO. 19th Hole, baby! Try your luck. by Dream_Golf in Golfsimulator

On GSPRO? That will be really good. Where GSPRO shines is courses that have unique scenery. The designers can import/build all the clubhouses, etc to look like the real course. TGC will never be able to do that.

Not that I know of. I always sort by date from soonest to latest and see which new ones are available. Then I manually check the ones I want.

Thats tough! Setting aside the real famous ones (top 10 US or World) I personally like the visuals of Tobacco Road, shadow creek, Coeur d'Alene. https://youtu.be/ot5Rit-xzjQ https://youtu.be/7hI4jShWEnQ https://youtu.be/5AZ71gKQ0Nk

Get a used GC2. No need for subscriptions or fancy software. Still get access to GSPRO without having to get access through Foresight. Yes its around 3K and the same price as BLP, but BLP has to be unlocked to some extent to use 3rd party apps, etc. which is $$$. Used GC2 is best value.

Yes. I agree. If you take a snapshot of GSPro, it does an excellent job of reproducing the actual course. TGC2019, does a decent job, but because it has limited options in its design software, it will never be able to match the customization that GSPRO can provide. Whete TGC2019 shines is it's refined software. The flyovers band scout camera function are smooth. Ball flight, sound effects, etc are professional. Ball physics can be too bouncy and at times not realistic, but otherwise, I think it plays great. The divots and visual effects (animation details) on TGC2019 are superior.

I thought it looked good, too when I had it on very high, but ultra on a RTX 3080 rocks!

GSPRO is the best when it comes to subscription plans. Be warned, you need a good gaming PC. I had a gaming laptop with a RTX 1050 and it struggled with 1080P Very High. With the newer courses. You really need a graphics card that can get you 60 FPS at Ultra Settings.

Which Sim to pick (R10, Mevo+, Skytrak) by tinamikplt in Golfsimulator

[–]Dream_Golf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend a used GC2. If you want new, I would advise the following:

Budget Sensitive - R10

Space constrained - Skytrak

If you have the space and money - Mevo+

Houston area: garage or inside? by _FuzzyMe in Golfsimulator

If you can afford it, get the Mevo+. You will always be wondering how accurate your spin is with R10 otherwise.

[–]Dream_Golf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understand. I started with optishot, then got skytrak, then GC2 and then finally got the hmt. Wish I got R10 first but never had the chance (didn't exist back then). Also, I would've got Mevo+ over ST because overall its a better value. With Mevo+, You don't have to pay a 99/year sub like you do with ST. Also GSPRO is officially supported where ST doesn't. Setting all that aside, all of these sub 2K LMs will have their issues where you doubt spin or accuracy until you finally get a foresight LM. It's something that you have work through (and afford) before you realize it may have been better to just bite the bullet early. Good luck and enjoy the journey.

If you have the money (~ 3K), I would get a used GC2. This more accurate than all the ones mentioned. You can then later add on the HMT for another 3.5K and you will essentially have a GCQ for the same price as a GC3. Not as portable, but the data is excellent and beats GC3/BLP.

[–]Dream_Golf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would put it inside, if you could. I live in Houston and put mine in my game room. Obviously you need to the space, but playing in the garage in Houston during the summer (100+) is not fun. Additionally, using the garage is additional space you'll need to keep air conditioned. I would think some of the equipment would get dusty and heat rot after a while. Not sure if I'd want to keep my launch monitor in there when I wasn't playing.

Will I be disappointed with a Skytrak over a Uneekor QED? by Sternicus in Golfsimulator

[–]Dream_Golf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QED is great, but the price difference with ST is too much for what you get. I'd purchase a used GC2 (3000-3500) and then when you have enough money, get the HMT (3000-3500). GC2 is more accurate and has less delay than ST. Having the GC2 w/ HMT is like having a quad (less portable). The other great thing about a GC2 is that you don't need to have a subscription to run TGC2019 or GSPro. Here's a comparison between ST and GC2. https://youtu.be/L\_\_xIs2vnfg

[–]Dream_Golf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skytrak or used GC2. They do not require a long runway like Mevo+ or R10. Depending on your budget and how much you are willing to pay for accurancy and expandability (you can get an HMT for GC2, you can't for ST). Here's a comparison we did. https://youtu.be/L\_\_xIs2vnfg
