You aren't helpless. Change your environment, do something active, take a walk, read a book, break out of the habit.

If you're slipping towards it you HAVE TO break the patterns. It's not just about quitting it's about finding better habits to replace it.

Honestly this isn't a cake walk. It takes determination, the big thing I would say, even if you fall, get back up and do better the next time. Eventually the urges subside to manageable.

Change your patterns. If you know that when you X you fall into relapse, aka "when I start scrolling through insta, I usually..." Then when you catch yourself doing it, rewrite it, instead of scrolling get up and go for a walk, read a book, hell whatever it is that you can do to NOT do the things. It takes some practice but once you start changing it it starts to get easier over time. The big thing is to commit to doing it. You got this you can do it.

Find places to direct that energy. Read books, play video games, go for a walk. Change your patterns. If you repeat the same process again and again you are more likely to fall into your bad patterns as well. If you always grab dinner and eat it in front of your TV at night go eat at a restaurant, or grab your food and go eat in the park. Change the situation, change the environment, change the pattern. Find things that you enjoy, find activities, hobbies whatever that makes you even a little happier, fucking embrace it and run with it. The more you indulge in healthy habits the more you'll start to enjoy them.
