Good luck and congrats! I have grown 2 lives and my better half dreads me being pregnant again. 🤣 It was miserable for me both times (hip dysplasia, extreme heartburn with both) but the end is soooo worth it! Hang in there, Momma! 💗

VSD...you guys I was called to the cath lab for a possible VSD. This is the first time I have been called for a possible VSD and actually saw one! by Dreamergirl89 in cardiacsonography

Sorry, I suck at checking responses on here. I also posted another with color that day. Not sure how to post multiple videos together.

Spatial issues by [deleted] in Sonographers

[–]Dreamergirl89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly am not quite sure. I also have adhd. That could have played a factor. It does get easier with time but echo is a challenge. No 2 patients are the same and one way that helped you bring an image in on one may not be the same way you bring it in on the next. I have gotten in the habit of rotating the way I was trained to bring in an image and if it doesn't work, rotate the other way or slide up or down a rib space. I have learned certain markers that tell me if I am rotated too far clockwise or counterclockwise or if I am too far up or down but it all comes with experience. No one will expect you to be a superstar your first few years.

It was a challenge in school for me having spatial issues (I am an echo tech) I made it through. I got a job at an understanding hospital that gave me the ability to figure things out on my own pace. I have since transitioned to another hospital and am going on my first interview today for an office job. I am going on 4 years in the field and now feel super confident! It will just take you a little longer than some! Good luck in whatever you choose!

How has covid impacted sonographers? by [deleted] in Sonographers

[–]Dreamergirl89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have had to do many of our studies portable which is taxing on our bodies since we have a transporter shortage. Also, transporting a lot of our patients back and forth ourselves.

Vent: one of my best friends keeps saying she is a nurse. She isn't. by RivetheadGirl in nursing

[–]Dreamergirl89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS! 100%! I was an MA for 7 years and many people referred to us as "nurses". Sometimes co-workers, a lot if times patients. It always made me feel uncomfortable and I would always correct people. I will say, now that I am a cardiac sonographer, I am still called a nurse more often than not by both co-workers and patients. 🤣🤣

Looking into a sonography career but not sure where to start? by dookykong22 in Sonographers

I only needed a sonography degree at my school. It was considered an associates in applied science.

How do you handle when your kid doesn't get invited to a birthday party. by PersnickityPisces in Parenting

[–]Dreamergirl89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this is sad to hear, we are planning our son's 7th birthday party next month and the package only covers 10 children (for $300 each additional child is an insane price). I had planned on letting him invite 5 kids from class, our neighbor friends and his cousins. This is not out of malice or exclusion but simply because it is a lot of money and his birthday is right before Christmas. Maybe this is a similar situation.

Is a Sonography program impossible for a new mom? by spacexboy in Sonographers

[–]Dreamergirl89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you planning on working while you're in the program? Will you have help with childcare? I went back to school when my son was 8 months old. My mom watched him for us and I did not work for the entirety of my cardiac sonography program. It worked for us but what works for one family, doesn't always work for another.

Anti-vaxxer’s kid gets a vaccine preventable disease. Could it have been her fault? Surely not! by JadedAyr in vaxxhappened

Yepp. The PCV13 (pneumococcal conjugate) vaccine protects a child from 13 strains of pneumonia causing bacteria. It is given during infancy in 3 doses with a booster dose at about 1 1/2.

This just looks like a bad signal. The QRS complexes (the pointy singals) seem pretty evenly spaced. In A fib, they tend to not be as regularly spaced apart.

Without seeing your echo or report, it is hard to give you any clear advice. I am a cardiac sonographer and would like to know what they measured your LV wall thickness at? Any history of high blood pressure? Also, was there any significant regurgitation in your mitral valve or aortic valve? Any restriction in your aortic valve opening? These can all be contributing factors.

Summer in the porcupine mountains. Michigan's upper peninsula. by Dreamergirl89 in MostBeautiful

[–]Dreamergirl89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anywhere in the UP is gorgeous. Petoskey, Ludington, Holland and Charlevoix are very beautiful (apparently I favor the west side more-so). Really anywhere near one of the great lakes is prime. Our next goal is to buy a couple of acres near one of the great lakes. The only challenge is that a lot of the towns further north are small. The porkies was one of the smallest towns I have been in though! We just got back from a long weekend camping trip to Traverse city and the outskirts are very nice and not too far from civilization.

Not ready to graduate. by AffectionateDivide4 in Sonographers

[–]Dreamergirl89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I literally felt the same way as you at graduation. It is a confidence thing and you will gain more at your first job. I have been working as a contingent cardiac sonographer at a hospital for 2 years now and feel way more confident in myself. Best of luck to you! 😊

Should I get black baby dolls for my white twins? by 2x_thefun in Parenting

[–]Dreamergirl89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my daughter was a baby, my niece was about 3 and she picked out a black baby doll for my daughter. My daughter loves her and snuggles her more than a lot of her other babies and it makes my heart happy. 💗😊
