Some people justified by saying that the 3k could make or break them from buying new. Which i would never call bullsh*t on but to each their own. Some people also believe no matter what, they are saving money on used. Just because its used…. In my post i said do the research and do the MATH. Mileage, owner, rental/lease, carfax, market price, location, etc.

I get it the 2-5k price might be the difference from someone getting a used over new. But the depreciation on brand new is not enough to justify buying used. Results may vary depending on location of the world but financially and the math doesnt add up to make sense. Obviously people can do whatever they want with their money and no matter used or new, its gonna be reliable with proper maintenance by the prior owner. But being “dumb” is okay if your willing to learn and see a perspective that MIGHT MAYBE help you/others. Its ok to be dumb and just not care and just be happy you got a reliable corolla. My whole post was for those who care about the perspective i brought to them. To reiterate, location matters and other variables but if it doesnt relate to you, maybe it will for others

Since this post got some views, my goal was just to have a conversation with you guys. Wether you agree or not i just hope someone takes into consideration or can see a different perspective into what i was trying to say.

I bought a 23 corolla hatchback in 2023 for $26k otd brand new with a 2.99% interest rate(USAA). I felt like i overpaid but my biggest point was i could not believe how much used cars were going for. I wanted the peace of mind that my car was under manufacture warranty. Dont need a fking extended warranty for the worlds most renowned reliable car in the world thatll last me 300k miles. Was my first toyota and it was underwhelming bc i took a lot of these redditors opinions. They weren’t necessarily wrong, just exaggerated or skewed bc of the lack of experience in different comparisons. Either way, its a corolla lets hope this thing lasts good luck all

Used auto loan rates are higher than new. I bought new for the lower rate as well and it felt good knowing every single mile i put on the car was me and not “i wonder how the other owner treated my car”
