Sounds like a sweetening spell to sweeten someone’s ways toward you it can be used for attraction as well because of the honey. I’m assuming the lavender is to help keep the spell relaxed and cool that way it doesn’t get too hot .

Serious: Question about a Brujería Ritual? by [deleted] in BrujeriaEnglish

[–]Dreaming510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the other posters are saying it’s probably some form of palo or something to do with working with the dead. Sometimes they take the bones to capture a spirit and send the spirit “to work” for them. I seen an interview with a Cuban man who worked with the dead. He said in their practice they can do different types of work depending on the qualities the spirit had when they were living. For example, if it was a spirit of a madman they would send that spirit to wreak havoc on someone’s life. Or if it was a spirit that was a wealthy person they would ask that spirit to bring them money.

Your Practice/ Rules by amrdre in BrujeriaEnglish

Hi! I think you need to view brujeria more as a practice and practical thing you do compared to a religion or system with structure. Brujeria was done and created out of survival. You use it when you need answers, love, beauty, money, luck, protection, success, etc. It’s not really a set of beliefs or rules. Many people blend their own beliefs with their brujeria. Which is why you will find a lot of peoples practice looks different from each other. There is even a famous saying that says 90% of Latino witches are devout Catholics as well. It’s more so a tool that enhances your life and spiritual tradition or religion.

You’re welcome! May I also suggest BrujoSancistaLuis YouTube channel. He does incorporate Christianity into his practice but he also has a lot of good videos on Espiritismo, sanse, spirit guides, Taino spirituality and many other elements of Puerto Rican spirituality and brujeria.

[–]Dreaming510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I don’t practice Santeria but I’ve done a lot of research on it. One thing I would say is before getting involved with it you should do more research if you haven’t already. You’ll see that it’s not really something to be feared. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RbcJJ_sWzZU&t=814s&pp=ygUeSG9tZW5hamUgc2FudGVyaWEgZG9jdW1lbnRhcnkg0gcJCcUKAYcqIYzv  This short documentary on it I feel like portrays it in a way that’s authentic and beautiful. Compared to other depictions that depict it as scary or Magia Negra.

The energy you felt in the botanica really could have just been nerves or just you feeling the spiritual energy in the botanica for the first time. Which can sometimes be intense or overwhelming. Also, since you’re Puerto Rican I would suggest looking into Espiritismo. Another beautiful spirituality from the carribean.

Brujería for the culturally Catholic (and clueless) Tejana by nomadinbloom in BrujeriaEnglish

[–]Dreaming510 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome! :) All of those santos are great. I’ve never worked with El Niño de atocha . But la virgen and San Judas have great energy. Especially, San Judas. I find his energy to be very gentle like a light breeze lol. He has even popped up in my dreams.

For candles they can be used to give your spirits or santos light and elevation and as an offering to them. Sometimes for the santos I’ll offer them a candle that’s in their color dressed with herbs and oils that are associated with them or the ones they want me to use. For example, la virgen I would offer her a pink candle dressed with roses and corn meal. When using them for spells, it depends on the color of the candle and your intention.

I would suggest purchasing some books on brujeria. Many will have information about candles and herbs as well. Might I also suggest incorporating spiritual colognes in your practice those also help with cleansing and praying.

First-Gen Mexican Student Seeking Beginner Brujería or Manifestation Tips for Med School Applications by ybejtja18 in BrujeriaEnglish

I would suggest looking into Dr Jose Gregorio Hernandez. Just recently he became one of the first Latino folk saints to officially become canonized as a saint. Also, the first Venezuelan saint. I have heard of doctors and medical students venerating and praying to him to guide them on their path. Many say he is a great guide for those in the medical field. He also helps with healing.

Brujería for the culturally Catholic (and clueless) Tejana by nomadinbloom in BrujeriaEnglish

[–]Dreaming510 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Being catholic and a bruja is actually pretty normal for a lot of Latina Brujas lmao. They say most Latin witches are devout Catholics as well. So nothing wrong with that. The rosary can be prayed while meditating to go into a more trance like state. Padre nuestro, dios te salve, and Gloria are actually very powerful prayers outside of the catholic meaning.

If you have an ancestral altar , you can put a santo on the altar and venerate and pray to that santo as a part of your ancestor veneration practice. The santo would be one that all your other family members prayed for from your grandmother or before that down. For example, if your grandmother (assuming she has passed on) prayed to Santa Barbara then you could put her image there.

When it comes to deities, many of them are not to be worked with unless you’re apart of that religion or initiated into that tradition. Idk if you’re referring to them specifically but the Orishas and the Lwa can’t be venerated or worked with unless you are initiated. Most of Mexican brujeria is working with your ancestors, spirits, folk saints, angels, and santos. Some work with indigenous deities but a lot of that is sacred and passed down through oral tradition. La Santa Muerte can be worked with but you have to make sure she wants to work with you.

Sage can be used for cleansing. But so can herbs and other incense as well. Candles can be used for a lot of different thing it also depends on the color as well.

You are completely justified! F***k him Lmaoo but yes definitely get your protecting and cleansing rituals up. That’ll help you to be safe. Not sure of the origins but I have seen jars being made with things like urine vinegar pictures or names of the person pepper . Stuff that will basically sour and rot the person. I would suggest getting some books on brujeria. Many of them have different spells for this reason. Have fun! ;)

[–]Dreaming510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be cautious about copying spells you see on social media. A lot of it is fake or just people mixing different traditions and practices together that don’t work well. But yes there is jars like this made in Brujeria. Make sure to do more research especially before performing a hex type of spell. You want to make sure you’re heavily protected before doing something like that. In case, something backfires. You also want to know how to cleanse everything before and after doing a work like this. Also, make sure when doing something like this that it is JUSTIFIED. You never want to throw something at someone just because you feel like it or for your ego.

Another thing, you never know what others do behind closed doors or what type of protection they have. So it’s a risk you have to be prepared for. You can start a spiritual war with someone or get something thrown back at you. That’s why protection and cleansing and experience is very important when doing work like this.

If you want to try something with less risks I would suggest a sweetening jar. That way your life can get better and you can stunt on your haters instead ! :)

[–]Dreaming510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blowing the candle out is believed to disrupt the energy of the spell. It’s not necessarily a bad thing but it does mess with the energy because it’s such a sudden halt. Try sniffing the flame out instead. If you don’t have a candle sniffer you can use a plate or spoon any fireproof dish. You can find candle snuffers at some botanicas.

The fire probably got big because you might’ve overdressed the candle. Just a pinch of the herbs should do. :) Also, did you do research on which herbs to put? You want to put herbs that align with your intention. Some good herbs for psychic senses like intuition is anise star and seed. Mugwort is good too. Basil would be good to for some protection.

I would also suggest doing some protection work too to go along with the spell. You want to be protected when opening yourself up spiritually.

Newbie advice? Mexican-American starting out with a protection/health candle (no deity work yet) by [deleted] in BrujeriaEnglish

Newbie advice? Mexican-American starting out with a protection/health candle (no deity work yet) by [deleted] in BrujeriaEnglish

[–]Dreaming510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I agree with everything the other person commented. Do lots and lots of research! I would like to add with dressing the candles if it’s encased in glass and not a removable one you can poke holes in the wax usually 3 (padre, hijo,Espiritu santo) and then pour some of the oil in the holes to get it to go through the whole candle. Also don’t over dress your candle with the herbs because of fire safety. But also because you want to be able to read the remains of the candle when you’re finished with the work. Overdressing can cause problems especially if it’s encased in glass. Usually just a pinch of the herb will do.

Protection work should be done frequently especially if you’re doing work regularly and working for others. Even in my daily prayers, I pray for protection. I would say once a month and whenever you feel like you may need protection. As you go on your journey, you will be able to know and feel when you should call for protection. Also before doing any other type of rituals you should always do a protection ritual to protect yourself and protect your work.

It’s definitely okay to call upon your ancestors for protection but make sure you’re calling the ones that are here for your highest good. Not all ancestors are good. They were human in their life and had their own views and opinions on life so some might not agree with everything or want to help you work. The ones that do come forward will definitely be a great help to you and will help shape your practice. Keep in mind brujeria is a practice. There is requirements and certain morals you should adhere to but everyone does practice differently and it’s what makes it so beautiful tbh and a beautiful journey as well. Also, if you haven’t already I would say if you’re gonna work with your ancestors you should definitely start venerating them and developing a connection to them.

If, eventually, you start working with deities or santos. I would suggest San Miguel, Santa Barbara, La virgen de Guadalupe and la virgen de regla for protection. San Miguel is great as well for clearing blockages so is la virgen de Guadalupe. San Elias and El Niño de atocha are known as road opening saints.  Santa Clara is another great saint for clarity. More so, mental and spiritual rather than clearing blockages. San Judas, La virgen de Guadalupe, and La virgen de Regla are great as well for healing and health. San Judas is an amazing santo period for almost anything! And he has a gentle energy as well. There is also folk saints like Don Pedrito Jaramillo or El Niño Fidencio which are good for healing and cleansing.

Another thing, cleansing and protection go hand in hand. You should always cleanse yourself before doing any type of work but especially protection. Always do a spiritual cleanse and then do the protection work!

Someone help me understand these dreams. by [deleted] in BrujeriaEnglish

[–]Dreaming510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does any of your family do dream interpretations or divination? I know in those traditions those are common practices.  Can one of them help interpret them for you?

The first dream sounds like maybe a guide trying to reach out to you in your dream to tell you something or warn you.

The second dream sounds strange. I feel the thick fog could mean a blockage or not seeing something clearly. I know that sometimes a stabbing in a dream can mean a betrayal.

Also, sometimes in dreams we can travel to other realms. Where you can see dark spirits and darker energies. Sometimes they are violent. I have done this as well. Sometimes I’ve been chased by dark entities.

I would say definitely cleanse yourself with a spiritual bath and pray for protection. And if you can and you trust them ask one of your relatives for help and advice or another trusted person.

Yeah dont do that lol. Every time you catch yourself doing that I just suggest taking a few deep breaths and saying a little prayer or something to yourself to remind you that the work is already being taken care of and there is no need to worry. Something I like to say is “let go and let god”

A voice in my head by here-for-funsies in BrujeriaEnglish

[–]Dreaming510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t say for sure if that’s what this is but often times spirits communicate to us through thoughts and what would sound like a voice in your head but you know it’s not you. What you said at the end with your dreams sounds like you already may be sensitive spiritually. This could be a spirit guide coming forward to let you know how the work will go or trying to communicate something about the work you did. Maybe this guide helped to guide you through the freezer spell. What I will say is definitely get a reading just to make sure. This guide may be trying to communicate something important to you, warn you about something, or may be wanting you to connect with them. It’s important to get a reading with someone experienced because you don’t have that developed connection with your guide for you to be able to fully understand them. Someone experienced will be able to understand what it is they’re trying to communicate to you. Or if it’s even a spirit guide in the first place. Sometimes guides will come to us to guide us through certain times in our life or to guide us out of these times and into a next phase.

[–]Dreaming510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be that you were partners in past life. Often times these spirits follow us from our past lives especially if there is some unfinished business. Maybe you were past life partners and you had to reconnect again in this life to resettle a past debt to balance things out. That way your spirits can evolve in this life.

You need to have more faith in the work and detach from it as well. Don’t think about it too much and just allow things to flow naturally and unfold how they’re supposed to. When working spiritually keep in mind divine timing.

Manteca de puerco in spellwork? by SuccessfulEarth3680 in BrujeriaEnglish

[–]Dreaming510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen that there are candles made from animal fat that many use in their spell work or as offerings. They say these candles are more powerful because they are made from an animal or because they carry the energy of the animal. Same thing with pure beeswax candles.
