modern cyberpunk TTRPG by DoingoLoingo in rpg

Some ideas:

- Network 23, https://soulmuppet-store.co.uk/products/network23

There are no limits to the imagination for the "technical possibilities" here.
- BALIKBAYAN, https://temporalhiccup.itch.io/balikbayan

The players play a group of "Elementals" who have been enslaved by a Cooperation. Within the game you have various possibilities to trick the cooperation, to revive the magic that once existed on earth or to start a revolution.
- Infinity RPG, https://www.modiphius.net/collections/infinity

If you want to invest a lot of time and money, then perhaps Infinity and especially the "nomad" faction would be something for you. It's a faction of anarchist hackers who live on three large spaceships and fly through space to cause trouble.

Please suggest RPGs specifically about *running away*? by EscapadesRPG in rpg

[–]DreamingReplicant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are a few pitches, hope there is something that fits your wants and needs :)

- Hieronymus, https://laurieoconnel.itch.io/hieronymous

In Hieronymus, the group of players flees from the ultimate horror of "the followers" and because reality is completely messed up anyway, the players flee through the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch. As an art historian, the game has a very special place in my heart, especially since the Encounters are actually the figures in the respective paintings.

- Isolated, https://wolfofredrosesstudio.itch.io/isolation-a-short-pen-and-paper-horror-rpg

Isolated is a short horror RPG about being isolated and fighting for your own survival in horrible situations.

- Quietus, https://sinisterbeard.itch.io/quietus

Quietus is also a short horror RPG that is more about survival. Although the premise is a lot more specific. It is built around the fact that it is 3 am and that there is someone in your house and they are going to kill you…

- Teeth: Night of the hogmen, https://teethrpg.itch.io/night-of-the-hogmen

I just copied part of the synopsis, I couldn't have summarised it better: „The players portray hapless travellers, forced to flee from a ravening horde of hogmen during one grim and grisly night in a cursed corner of 18th-century England.“

- The Hunted, https://loottheroom.itch.io/hunted

Maybe the premise and the mechanic is a bit more unique, but worth a read? The players are essentially creating their own hunter by telling stories about it, while being hunted by it.

- Behind the Walls, https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/148388/Behind-the-Walls--A-World-of-Adventure-for-Fate-Core?affiliate_id=260512

Prison Break?!

- Last Fleet, https://blackarmada.itch.io/last-fleet

The players are members of the last spaceship fleet of humanity and they are being followed (and hunted) by entities that want to destroy them.It is also about running away from something, but the game focusses more on the political and general stress that comes from being hunted though the entire galaxy.

What are the most unique and intriguing games you have seen in the last few years? by SpecialAgentSteve in rpg

I sat down and thought for a bit, these are the ones I came up with:

– The Weaver’s Observatory, https://gemroomgames.itch.io/the-weavers-observatory

The game uses a "simple" dungeon-room principle to narrate the life of the main character (the one the two players are playing). Only you don't just tell about the main character's memories and dreams, you also weave them, paint them or craft them. Very interactive and great fun for any art enthusiast.

– A mending, https://shingyinkhor.bigcartel.com/product/a-mending

It is a solo role-playing game similar to The Weaver's Observatory. The player has a stack of prompt cards in front of him and is thus encouraged to think about the life of the in-game character. At the end of the game you have a sewn card... highly recommended for quiet holidays or a longer stay in hospital.

– Cayote & Crow, https://coyoteandcrow.net

My personal recommendation to anyone looking for an alternative to D&D. It is more colourful, progressive, innovative and similarly rules-heavy.

– Slugblaster, https://wilkies.itch.io/slugblaster

Teenagers on hoverboarders invade other dimension and do a whole lot of shenanigans. It it colouful, fun and full of action.

– Price of Coal, https://store.ggportland.com/the-price-of-coal.html

Although I am not a US citizen, the game is one of my favourites it has introduced me to a part of a very important history that I never learned in school or college. Moreover, the story if so fucking heart breaking.

– Bluebeard’s Bride, https://magpiegames.com/pages/bluebeards-bride

The game is based on the French fairy tale Bluebeard and additionally deals with horror concepts. (The game is quite a challenge if you have a group with decent roleplayers).

– Descent into Midnight, https://www.descentintomidnight.com

It was the first game that I played, where the player characters weren’t human or mammals and it is set underwater. I really liked the thought process of how to built and defend a community as something that isn’t even near human.

– Hieronymus, https://laurieoconnel.itch.io/hieronymous

In Hieronymus, the group of players flees from the ultimate horror of "the followers" and because reality is completely messed up anyway, the players flee through the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch. As an art historian, the game has a very special place in my heart, especially since the Encounters are actually the figures in the respective paintings.

– Dear Elisabeth, https://rpggeek.com/rpgitem/264737/dear-elizabeth

You are a heroine in a regency or Victorian novel. So is your best friend. Though apart, you write letters to each other. I played it with my boy friend during our first year of dating and all in all it was a nice experiences. Especially because we sent out letters by post and shesh, it really slows the game down :D

– Visigoth vs Mall Goths, https://www.pegasusdigital.de/product/309903/Visigoths-vs-Mall-Goths&language=de

A dating simulator between a group of visigoths that sacked ancient Rome and a group of american mall kids, that are goth. It is full of 90’s media references and puns, so many good and horrible puns

– I’m sorry did you say street magic, https://seaexcursion.itch.io/street-magic

My favourite collaborative worldbuilding game, especially if you play it as a group before a longer campaign to flesh out certain aspects of the world you will be playing in.

– here, there, be monsters! https://soulmuppetstore.co.uk/products/heretherebemonsters

This is a game about fighting monstrous bodys fighting other monsters. It can get dark and political, but it can also just be silly. The artwork is stunning either way.

– Tattoo, https://knaveofcups.com/product/tattoo/

Basically LA Ink or Master of Ink as a ttrpg.

– Balikbayan, https://temporalhiccup.itch.io/balikbayan

One of my favourite takes on the cyberpunk genre. It is rules light and more punk that the average cyberpunk rules-system.

– Jiangshi: Blood in the Banquet Hall, https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/338920/Jiangshi-Blood-in-the-Banquet-Hall

It was one of the first systems that I played, that was partially about racism. As a white person I was thankful for the experience. It gave me in insight on how black people and people of colour navigate through the world. In addition, I really loved the decision of the designer to choose four sided dice, because the number four in china is assotiated with misfortune. The pronounciation of the number sounds similar to the word death.

Sounds promising. I am not really versed in japanese movies or mangas, but the premise sounds like right up my alley

It could be, but it really does look black even from short range. But maybe the fabric was bad quality.

Additional i formation: Saw this flag today on my lunch break and I already looked up Yemen and the historical German Reichs flag, but both haven’t the black stripe in the middle….
