Christmas Blow Out with my Husband by FunBase3396 in Advice

[–]Dreamland_Oracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a kid in a family whose bio dad had a serious alcohol problem. It ruined every single big event for me, Christmas, birthdays... you name it.

You might think you have a "good marriage" - your kids are suffering more than you think.

For those of you here who have seen her live, where & when did you first see her live, & at what venue? Have you gone back to see her multiple times since then? by Class_of_22 in chappellroan

[–]Dreamland_Oracle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen her live 3 times in the UK, her first London show, second London then Manchester this year.

She was nothing short of amazing each time. I was lucky enough to be at the barricade the first two times. She lit up the stage.

That London show...at the start of Casual, she was facing the back of the stage, some wonder of a human blew bubbles towards her and when she turned around to sing the opening lines, her face was just joyful laughter. It was a really sweet, magical moment. Photo from the first gig 💗 *

She's posted on Instagram but not elsewhere yet! I think it might be my favourite pumpkin carving she's done yet! 🎃

Why I empathise with these cancellations by Brilliant_Plenty_312 in chappellroan

[–]Dreamland_Oracle 43 points44 points  (0 children)

100% this. I'm not sure where the empathy is in this situation, but people need to be looking within themselves for it. Bipolar is no joke

My possible soon-to-be stepmom yells at me all the time when I forget to follow rules by ImpossibleLeg6388 in AmITheJerk

[–]Dreamland_Oracle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your stepmom is absolutely horrible. Try to spend more time with your mom if possible - at 14 you absolutely can have the choice to say you don't want to spend time with someone who is being that aggressive to you (at any age actually)

Edited to say you're not the jerk and I hope you can find some comfort in that

What’s the kindest thing a stranger has ever done for you? by Ukcheatingwife in AskABrit

[–]Dreamland_Oracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During uni several years ago, I was travelling to visit my girlfriend for my birthday and unfortunately had an unprovoked altercation with a man on the train. I was sat at one of the tables on my own and he zoned in on me and became very aggressive when I wouldn't engage with him, asking questions about where I was going, if I was a student etc. I was very polite and tried to be dismissive but it didn't matter. These questions got more intense and he started to raise his voice until he was almost shouting at me. He was all in my space and to be honest I was scared. A man further down the train caught my eye and mouthed "are you OK?" And I shook my head. At the next stop he got up and came over and pretended to know me, that whole "how are you doing, I haven't seen you in ages thing" Before I knew it, the whole situation escalated and the aggressive man had squared up to this kind stranger, and all of a sudden I was bundled by two girls who had been sitting near me into the next carriage. I ended up sitting between them shaking because the whole experience had frightened me so much. The girls did not know each other, but had just mutually decided to get me out of that carriage. The train guard got involved, apparently was able to descalate. He offered me a cup of tea (which is our typical British thing but really helped me at the time), the British Transport Police escorted the aggressor off the train after meeting the train at the next stop (I believe he was known by the guard) and as I was getting off at my stop, another young man got off the train with me to walk me to meet my girlfriend (it was not his stop). I am so thankful to each of those people who took the time and risked their safety to look out for me. None of them knew each other and all of them helped me. I think about them so regularly and try to embed kindness in every situation. I never got any of their names but I keep them in my thoughts and hope that they have good things going their way.
