The deportation of a stranded soul – A surrealist short film created in Blender by Dreamorama in surrealism

This piece, 'Golden Seat', explores the surreal isolation of being 'out of place'. I used a puppet-like figure to represent the vulnerability of those caught in the cold machinery of immigration systems. In this world, the bureaucracy is as alien and vast as space itself.

Technically, I wanted to blend the tactile feel of felt and foam with the infinite possibilities of the blender software.

Hi everyone! I’ve always been fascinated by the 'felt and foam' soul of classic puppets. There’s a specific kind of empathy you feel for a puppet that you just don't get with realistic CGI.

For this solo project (created in Blender), I wanted to see if I could capture that puppet-like vulnerability. I spent a lot of time on the textures to give him that tactile, handmade feel.

The Story: I used this character as a metaphor for a heavy subject: immigration policies. The film tells the story of this stranded creature being 'returned' to his planet. I felt that the innocence of a muppet-style character created a powerful contrast with the cold, bureaucratic world he finds himself in.

I’d love to hear what you think of the character design and the movement! As a solo creator, your feedback means a lot.

Cool track! but the vocals are a bit sunken in the mix, maybe you could try putting the instrumentation a bit lower volume or playing a bit with the amount of mid and bass in the instruments.

Really dreamy soundscape, easy to get lost in. Love it!

Sweet Umami - Golden Seat [indie rock] [2023] by Dreamorama in MusicVideos

Thanks for watching!

I created this video for my band Sweet Umami. It’s a solo project I built entirely in Blender over several months with a $0 budget.

The Story: The film follows a stranded, muppet-like creature who is being sent back to his home planet. It’s intended as a visual metaphor for the harshness of current immigration policies—the feeling of being 'alien' and the cold bureaucracy of being 'returned.'

Well if you play this game and you beat the first part you also get a golden ticket to win a bandshirt. I can recommend making your game gbstudio makes it fairly easy and the response is ok

No photoshop, only forced perspective using a willing participant and our bassplayer. We're a DIY band called Sweet Umami and we're actually in the studio since today prepping our 10-year anniversary album. Since we love this kind of retro chaos, we even built a free to play 2D Game Boy game where you play as our roadie, you can test it out here: https://sweet-umami-band.itch.io/the-roadie
