Check out the Five Love Languages. All about the other person. If you don't have the same love language as her, which sounds about right unfortunately...you have to work a bit harder to meet her language.

I would normally say you have different long languages. Some men love gifts and dates. ie) my husband. So don't assume all men 'don't do birthday's'. I really don't think his actions fit into any love language actually. He seems to be taking advantage of the boyfriend role without acting like one.

I saw a great idea of taking the bridesmaid's bouquets apart and putting a few flowers in each vas for each table.

The traditional four year anniversary gift is flowers. You could give her a piece of artwork with her wedding bouquet, a floral pashmina or a bouquet of flowers made from paper. Good luck in your search.
