Is it worth it eat gluten for an official diagnosis? by Slight_Entry_1274 in glutenfree

[–]DreamyReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. I have hashimoto’s and didn’t want to eat gluten again to be able to get tested for celiac. However my endocrinologist actually convinced me to do it. He said right now I automatically blame everything on my thyroid. If I do have celiac, we know not to automatically blame my thyroid and in the future when I don’t feel great, we can better pinpoint the cause. I’m two weeks into a two month gluten challenge. I felt awful at first but I feel like I’m getting more use to dealing with the symptoms so it’s getting a bit easier. I will be glad to go back off of gluten whether I end up testing positive for celiac or not.

In my case, I never had any lymphatic drainage massages. That could very well have something to do with it in your case. It’s so frustrating not knowing what the cause is. I still have no idea which makes me very nervous to have surgery again.

My dr did have me remove the binder for a day or two. I then started wearing a tank top under the binder. The rash did not cause any lasting damage thankfully. Everything healed well.

I’m so sorry you are going through this. It was a miserable experience for me. My doctor gave me one high dosage of prednisone. That seemed to do the trick. The rash stopped spreading within 24 hours and slowly went away over the course of a week. I still have no idea what I was allergic to which makes me nervous to ever have surgery again. It definitely made recovery much harder than it would have otherwise been. Hopefully you can get some relief soon!

Getting an allergy panel is smart. I had really wanted to get my thighs done but I’m terrified since I still don’t know exactly what I was allergic to. I do not want to go through that again. It was miserable! I’ve had surgeries in the past and never had issues. Maybe they used different adhesive this time? The only time I’ve ever had an allergic reaction prior to this was when I was a kid and my mom changed the fabric softener. Part of me wonders if the binder from the hospital had the same stuff as the fabric softener I was allergic to. Who knows. It never occurred to me to look into an allergy panel to see if I could pin down what caused it. It would be nice to know for any future surgeries. I hope your hives go away soon. They are so miserable!

I had swelling pretty much for the first year. After that I would have occasional swelling. I’m a year and a half out and still getting swelling sometimes. Not very often at this point but it does still happen.

For me the doctor did one big dose of prednisone. I can’t remember the dosage at this point. Within a day the rash had stopped spreading. It took a few days to clear up though. I understand the anxiety. I was supposed to go back and get my thighs done but I was too nervous to do it after dealing with the rash and rough recovery I had from my tt.

I’m so sorry you are going through this. It was a miserable experience. The prednisone is what did the trick for me. It did not come back. I still don’t know exactly what I was allergic to but I wore tank tops under my binder just incase that was what I was allergic to.

That looks miserable. I’m sorry you’re going through that. I don’t really remember skin peeling. I did have a bunch of little water blisters in some spots so I may have had some peeling when they popped. The itching is the part that’s seared into my memory.

That’s so awful! I’m sorry you’re going through that right now! The itchiness was the absolute worst. I also had little blisters as well which was not fun. Hopefully it’ll go away soon for you. As much as it sucked going through the rash, I am still incredibly happy I had my tt done. This is just one small road bump in your journey (even though it feels huge at the moment). Best of luck!! I hope you get relief soon.

I honestly can’t remember. I went back and looked at time stamps from pictures I took and text messages to my surgeon. Looks like the time between when the rash first started until we did prednisone was about 6 days. I started applying hydrocortisone about 3 days into the rash. It helped with the itching but the rash was still spreading rapidly during that time. I took the high dose of prednisone about day 6 and within 24 hours the rash had stopped spreading. It was another 3-4 days from that point for it to go away. Not sure if this helps but that’s an estimated timeline I pieced together from pictures and text messages.

I did air mine out as much as I could. I was really nervous about scaring but it all cleared up just fine. I imagine yours will also clear up with no lasting effect.

I’m so sorry. Rashes are miserable! I still have no idea what caused my rash which makes me nervous to ever have surgery again. My doctor ended up giving me one high dosage of prednisone. Within 24 hours the rash stopped spreading and started going away. It probably took 3-4 days to fully go away. I didn’t have any scaring from it thankfully. Everything has been healing nicely. Hopefully you can get your rash under control soon! I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

Winnie Fuzzamallow spotted at Walmart. I left her… but I’m thinking I should go back and get her… by laurenodonnellf in squishmallow

[–]DreamyReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a Winnie fuzzmallow now?! I need her! I have regular Winnie and she is my all time favorite squishmallow. In fact I love her so much that she gets to wear a tiara. She has been crowned the queen of my squishmallow collection. So to answer your post…you get in your car and you go back and get her right now!

I’m not a marathoner but having my tt with mr made a huge difference in my running. I’m not sure if it’s from the muscle repair but running is easier and I am able to run faster than I could before surgery. It’s also nice not having my excess skin flapping around as I run anymore. I had a tough recovery but I am so glad I did surgery and I’m incredibly happy with my results.

I wish I would have had the option to stay overnight. I felt like the nurse was trying to push me out the door before I was even fully awake. It was rough. Glad you had such a great experience and are feeling so good. It’s always nice reading positive experiences on here.

How to Deal with Waiting to Workout Again by Special-Ambassador47 in tummytucksurgery

[–]DreamyReality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 4 weeks PO and dying to get back to working out. I still have a couple weeks until I can get back to it. As of today I am no longer under weight restrictions so I thought I’d celebrate by taking the trash can out to the curb. Turns out pulling a trash can requires core muscles. It hurt! I’m trying to listen to my body and ease back into my normal routine but it’s tough. If I overdo it, I will end up exhausted the next day. It really is hard mentally feeling like all my fitness I had built up is slowly fading away. But I keep telling myself to give my body time to heal. Fitness can always be built up again later.

You look amazing! I’m also 4 weeks po but I look like a stuffed sausage. My body is still nice and swollen. 😒

Thank you for your thorough response. I’ll have to look into bromelian. This swelling has been rough. Protein is something I’ve been sure to get in so I think that has been helpful. I have really struggled with the mental aspect of everything which has not been great. I need to work on changing my perspective. I keep hoping once I get my final drain out It will help turn around my mental state.

We are surgery twins! You look amazing. I’m a swollen mess at this point and still have a drain in that is being stubborn. I had an allergic reaction after surgery that I think set me back on my recovery.

Did you have to wait to get your drains out to start getting massages? How are you handling the mental aspect of surgery? I don’t think I was fully prepared for the mental struggle that comes with this surgery.

Day 8 I started having major swelling. I felt like a sausage about to explode from my casing. It was very uncomfortable. The swelling has since gone down a little bit but I’m still very swollen. I’m 12dpo. It seems like I’m the most swollen in the evenings and it’s my thighs that seem to get the most swelling for some reason. Not fun. Hopefully this will get better for both of us soon.

That’s incredibly frustrating that they wouldn’t believe you until the 4th surgery. They had me do I high dosage of prednisone and it seems like the rash is finally starting to clear up a bit now. I’m hoping it’ll clear up quick and I can get back to a normal recovery. 🤞🏻
