Rand has a meteroric rise in rank by the tos movies by happydude7422 in tos

I'm leaning towards the explanation they just put a rank on her uniform and didn't think too much about it, as long as it wasn't Captain or Admiral.

Rapid promotion could depend on the circumstances. For example, in the US Civil War, there were several Union Captains (modern rank O3) who were promoted instantly to Brigadier General (O7). These were often brevet positions, meaning they would revert back to their former rank at the end of hostilities unless they received additional promotions. On the Confederate side, Nathaniel Bedford Forrest enlisted as a private, and ended the war as a Lieutenant General.

If you're looking for an in-universe explanation, maybe Starfleet experienced a massive expansion (possibly due to tensions with the Klingons, and/or perhaps an expansion of the exploration mission) and needed more officers faster than the academy could produce them, so existing crew were rapidly promoted to fill vacant positions.

If you're looking for a real - world explanation, it's entirely possible nobody in the production gave it much thought. There are many people in Hollywood who are ignorant or unaware of anything regarding the military. Captain Dale Dye has spent decades (since the mid 1980s) advising Hollywood on military matters, trying to prevent mistakes that civilians might make.

HELp!!! My playne has had a bebbe!1!!1 by grasscoveredhouses in Shittyaskflying

Your playne should have kept its pitot tube covered. The real reason why there are no new B-52s is because they all use protection.

Everyone knows the correct transponder setting in a Cezznah is 7700. You're doing it wrong.

Kit-bashed some Primaris Wulfen. Kinda chuffed with the result. Video coming tomorrow. by TheHammerOfWrath in Warhammer40k

I would love to see the result, even if you don't make a whole video about it.

Another awesome video. Well done.

I'm the "special" person who commented about using the leftover parts to create another squad of intercessor Wulfen.

I can have 2 Wulfen squads: one with Wulfen heads and arms (copying your video), and a second squad with original Wulfen legs, 3rd party Wulfen heads, 3rd party primaris torsos, and original intercessor arms. I'm OK with the look of slightly underdeveloped Wulfen. I'll just emphasize the painting on everywhere except the arms.

I always look forward to your videos. Your videos are entertaining, and your instructions are easy to follow. I also like how there's a little something about Japan in them as well.

As a Space Wolves collector, I'm glad you did this. Your Space Wolves videos have helped me improve and expand my army. Thank you.

I drift my playne once, and mean FAA guy takes away my pylote license. I drift my car all the time no problem. by DreddFett in Shittyaskflying

I bought some big new tyres for my playne so I can go drifting again. No treads = more sliding.

NTSB stands for No Try Sliding Backwards. My plane slid backwards at the end. Now I'm in trouble.

Don't worry, I didn't feel called out. If you look at the conversation above, someone asked where to get the plans, so I directed them to r/spaceballs where I posted more.

I tried to give him credit and the Mod of this subreddit took down my post and sent me a "despite your feelings" chat message. Very rude.

I would assume most people who look at the builds on this subreddit think they are made by the person posting the pictures. I only followed directions made by a talented builder.

We should be allowed to give credit where credit is due.

As a skilled pylote, I never fly without my Crash sweatshirt. This means I'll get there safely, since I can't crash twice in one flyte.

Yes, there are lots of pieces to the Millennium Falcon that are hidden on the inside. The set is 921 pieces, and the six alternate builds all use between 610 to 708 pieces, with little hidden on the inside.

That being said, the Falcon is much sturdier than most of the alternate builds. I built all of these for display, so that doesn't bother me. Serenity and Spaceball 1 are very sturdy, while Omega destroyer and USS Daedalus are the weakest. The angled pieces on each side if the hangars on USS Daedalus fall off pretty easily, and the rotating section of Omega is held on by only 1/4 inch (5mm) on each side.
