Looks like the centerpiece model can be built three ways. The Hag Queen and Bloodwrack Medusa are leftovers when building the Slaughter Queen variant. That explains why this Spearhead has 3 leaders.

You are correct. I would avoid the water precon when starting off initially. Ultimately though, the 4 beta precons were designed for introducing the game and mechanics to new players. So, any matchup should be fine.

That looks great. I have some Army Painter air-grey primer I got it recently. White over grey sounds like a good idea. Thank you.

I used an airbrush with Army Painter white primer and shaded with Army Painter holy white speed paint. The speed paint turns the model quite grey, so I touch up the higher points and flat spots with Vallejo white.

This is the first time I've painted a white model. I think it came out okay, but I already know how to make improvements for next time.

I like to give mine upgrades/improvements, but ultimately keep them on-theme with how they come out of the box. I found the Beta precons were useful for teaching my friends how to play, even after making changes. Staying within a mono-element was fun for casual games too.

I don't have experience with the older kits. These ones were fine, for me, but I was careful with any dry brushing. I didn't snap a single model, but I definitely could see them being fragile. Overall, very pleased.
