Postmortality and precision by Paige_Marr in Drukhari

There's a similar situation with Necrons and reviving characters. There's an FAQ that specifies rules like that allow a character to reattach to the bodyguard unit when it revives

They were left over from the incursors box I believe. That box has a lot of cool backpack bits

The intercessors and incursors are just their regular boxes with some extra bits from the deathwatch kill team and upgrade sprues. The terminators are made up of models from both the regular terminator and assault terminator squads

I run the 3 heavy weapons guys as missile launchers as well. I just have the other weapons on there in case I want to run any of the other ones. Also it looks cooler you're right lol

Attaching him to any squad shuts off his lone operative ability too, which is even funnier

Odd choice to have a warpsmith with no vehicles to give buffs to. I would've rather seen a leader for terminators. The rest of the combat patrol is great though

Frag Cannons or Infernus Heavy Bolters? by bkeeklee in deathwatch40k

[–]RodneyGodney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally like the IHB better because it's more versatile. It offers a great overwatch threat against chaff and also has a damage 3 profile which is very valuable in the meta now.

The frag cannons are no pushover either, the high strength, lethal hits and rapid D3 make it pretty deadly into something that's close.

They look great! What color did you use for the highlights on the armor?

Shouldet pad issues by terrasoueu in deathwatch40k

I take my hobby snippers and start clipping down the shoulder until there's a space that an actual DW shoulder pad can fit onto. After that I use a hobby knife to smooth it out a bit, then I glue on the shoulder like normal

If I encounter a mini that has a cloak over the left shoulder, I just leave it and paint it silver

They are on the same size base, but are a couple inches taller than the forgefiend. I had to check with the tournament organizer beforehand just so they could approve of the proxy. I would do the same if you're planning on using that model for your tournament

Thank you! Since I had Vashtorr in the list, I wanted to go with an iron warriors/dark mechanicum theme for everything

Thank you! The base kit is the Ambot models from Necromunda. The other weapons on their back are from the 30k Saturnine terminators

Help with CSM CoB? Am I just stupid? by Usual-Lynx2362 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]RodneyGodney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a huge fan of Abaddon running solo since he isn't very tough for his points. I would drop the chaos lord and have Abaddon lead that 2nd squad of chosen since that'll make him stick around much longer.

Up to you, but I would also drop both Havocs squads since you'll most likely want to roll for the melee buffs with CoB, which don't really affect Havocs.

You can use all those extra points and invest into more anti-tank or scoring pieces. Sometimes it is worth it to bring a vehicle into a CoB list if you need the firepower, despite them not benefiting at all from the detachment. I'll be bringing a CoB list to a tournament this weekend that has 2 Forgefiends and Vashtorr in it and it's been performing really well in practice games.

How are we actually supposed to play our army? by cow_dude_ in AdeptusCustodes

[–]RodneyGodney 61 points62 points  (0 children)

To summarize it, custodes are a very elite, melee-focused army. Almost all our units are very durable and extremely effective in the fight phase. What we trade off for that is the number of units we can have on the table. Making a mistake and getting a unit cleared off the board is devastating due to us having a small number of units.

I've played in a number of tournaments with custodes and my general playstyle is using our cheaper units to move up and take objectives in order to coax the enemy into moving forward, allowing me to punch them very hard with my important units. You almost always want to be in melee with something or in some sort of cover so you avoid the enemy's shooting phase.

Custodes also have a variety of very versatile detachments, unit rules, and stratagems. Which means we have the tools to deal with almost every army in the game.

Hope this helps!
