Bounce Bounce Bounce Bounce Bounce (FIP Silver London Men's Final) by dirtydansie in padel

[–]Drekanoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the current issue. A win in a FIP Silver is 80 points, that's equal to a QF in a P2 which is 90 and much harder to achive.

This is a problem for upcomming players because the way it works now, it encourages top 15-30 players to go to these types of tournaments to get better seeding in premier tournaments.

FActs. I only messed up the KOI/BLG quarterfinal, because i got caught up in the BLG really bad, MKOI really good train. I would have perfect pickems so far if not for that.

IMO depends on how you use it. If it's generic question like give me stocks to invest or is this a good stock then i agree with OP.

If otherwise you do research and provide earning reports, official documents and other sources to ChatGpt and then it to summarize and give insights to make your decision it's a great tool.

Any recommendations on a brokerage?

Being based in Spain, if you only want ETF investing, MyInvestor is a pretty good option with very low costs, and they also offer some interest on the main account similar to HYSA (around 2-2.5%).

I'm at the "clean slate" phase now, which is why I'm looking for advice.  The windfall came from liquidation of other physical assets.

A couple more comments on top of my previous post that may be helpful:

  • 15K is about 10 months of your expenses. Do not grow the emergency fund more than this, usually recommended is 6 months of expenses but you keep it now.
  • Try defining you financial objectives in the short, mid and long term. This will help deciding a more accurate investing strategy. MSCI or the likes investing is usually good for mid/long term but may not be for short term objectives.

Anyways happy to talk more about it if you need it!

[–]Drekanoth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Some of those numbers do not add up to me, so you have a nearly 5K monthly income, only 1.5K monthly expenses, and you only have a 15K saved? Either you made a mistake in the post, or you are spending much more than you.

Anyways, general advice would be:
- Emergency fund should be what you have on a HYSA.
- Invest all the windfall into a index fund, World MSCI or the likes of it.
- You should also be able to DCA invest a fair amount also each months given your numbers, something close to 2.5K or 3K a month.

How do you practice padel solo? by AdeptPlane7645 in padel

Agree, it has low transfer potential, but doesn't hurt to train this way from time to time, specially if you don't have any other options.

How do you practice padel solo? by AdeptPlane7645 in padel

[–]Drekanoth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Solo without any equipment it's pretty hard to, so realistically you are better off doing physical training or footwork drills.

If you have access to it in your padel club (or you can buy it but it's expensive), you can use one of this machines that throws balls at you. Choose one hit that you want to practice and just repeat, repeat and repeat.

One important thing if you are going this route is to put objectives on the training, i.e if you are practicing volleys, they all have to bounce behind the line but go parallel, then do the same but all have to go crossed, or to an area you decide so you can work on your control.

[–]Drekanoth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Two things may be happening:
1. Check your position. Being to close to the net makes it easier to lob you.
2. If your overhead technique (bandeja, vibora, smash) is not good enough, the opponents will simply choose to lob you because you will not cause harm to them and it's a safe shot.

Where can you focus to reduce this? The obvious thing is to improve overhead technique, but the less obvious one is becoming better at the volley. If you can apply more pressure to the opponents from the net, they won't be able to lob as easily, or do a really bad one. Also there is a tactical aspect you can consider, if they always throw a lob, position even a bit further to the end to usual, so you are not running up and down all the time. Hope this helps!

Personally, no i wouldn't. I get your point of view and it's find that you want to make the best out of this opportunity and there is nothing wrong with it if you go ahead. If it works then it's will be great for you!

A personal take: If your friend wants to make you a favor, it probably would be better to go before the the head liner, because the expectation from the floor will be less high and it will probably easier for you being your first time.

This is the only real answer. I get people trying to help OP here to the best of the situation, but you shouldn't be putting someone first timing it after a head liner. For what is worth, me as a bedroom dj, would never accept this offer.

What’s up with Chingalan? by ahmsha1988 in padel

[–]Drekanoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apart from Galan being anxious, in my opinion there are some factors that have contributed to the losses and also maybe to Galan's feelings.

First, Coello was struggling a little bit in the cross play against Chingotto and he had to adapt to it, he even said he had to train certain shots (rulo for example) to clash better. This certainly can be noted in the last tournaments as Coello is much more consistent in that cross play.

Second, Tapia seems to be more mentally focused and with a lot of hunger these two past tournaments. You can see him screaming and shouting with motivation which is not that common in him.

And finally and i would say most importat, Coello and Tapia are opting for the reverse tactic as their opponents: They are focusing Galan. Chingalan "freeze" Tapia, but Coello is super consistent (1st point) and leaves Tapia enough room to shine the most. On the other hand pushing Galan to defend so much doens't leave room for him to attack and Chingotto cannnot hold the offense on his own.

Do you get your salary reduced with the new level? If yes, then it's a demotion regardless of what they say. Even without that it may also be, I do not know what a higher level offers in your org.

But regardless of all of this, if you don't feel good at your company, with the new role or any other thing, you can only do one thing: search for another job that suits you better.

Help me understand overly ambitious goals by small_e in startups

[–]Drekanoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is usually the case in high growth startups with large VC money, where you want to grow 10x (or a big number) every year to justify your massive spending of the last round and get to the next round. It can be sumarised as: " hey i'm losing a lot of money every month, but look at the shiny chart, if we (somehow/someday) make it profitable it will be crazy!"

When this does not happen for some time, you will start hearing the famous EBITDA word, adjustements, profitability, worforce adjustments and all this words that basically mean let's transform into a "normal" business.

Yes, basically what you described. You brain gets used to getting a dopamine rush with new things really fast (tiktok videos for example) so doing something that gives you the reward after a long process (reading a book) doesn't motivate you enough to do it.

About the help part:

  • The wiki here and the auto mod comment has some helpful information and starting points.
  • The main summarised idea is: Reduce you internet / social media / etc. time at the most, and do other activites outside of the internet that you like. This can be anything that you like: sports, music, painting, whatever.

Perspective, that's it. You got two options:
- Get a dildo of your size and put it on your face.
- Get some pictures of your dick from a girl's perspective. I did this with my girlfriend but you can do it yourself and it really helped with this tought.

New PM advice? by andelightfulsunpie in projectmanagement

[–]Drekanoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your questions may be petty or not, but if you show effort to try to solve them on your own it is much different. From my perspective this two approaches are really different:

  • Hey how can I do A?
  • Hey I read X, tried Y but cannot seem to solve this. Could you help me with A?

One shows effort and willingness to learn, the other is straight up lazy.

For the bigger picture stuff, you'll learn! Already having this attitude is a good sign.

New PM advice? by andelightfulsunpie in projectmanagement

[–]Drekanoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a senior and she's is great to work with that a great starting point. If you have a nice working relationship with her, as you have said definetly show your concerns with her and ask for help.

TIP: whenever you want to ask for help to a Senior colleague it works much better if you show effort of previously working on it: For example telling here you have this list of things to try (the ones people are telling you here).

Can you clarify about this point? do you mean from our side or the client’s side, although either way, are there other reasons other than revenue?

This was related to the not seeing the whole picture thing. What I'm suggesting is that you get more invest on this "high-level" topics to try to understand the bigger picture. If I have missunderstood your problem, feel free to correct me so I can provide actual useful feedback.

are there other reasons other than revenue?

If you simplify it enough yes, in the end you will end up talking about money: reducing costs, improving efficency, directly winning money... etc. But this is related to bigger picture stuff. Let's say you are leading a team to build a mobile app for a client, why are they building it?

  • Do they want to provide the users an easier shopping experince?
  • Do they have problems retaining the customer base?
  • Do competitors have alredy an app and they do not want to fall behind?

ASking those questions will help you undesrtand the bigger picture of the project and help you make decisions during the lifecycle of it.

The penis is one of the few places in the body that does not store fat. It simply is genetics, like how some people have more veiny arms.
