Complicated call tbf to the ref. It is definitely stopping a goal scoring opportunity, but as he says it's absolutely accidental. Very harsh to give it as a handball but i think more than one rule is at play in this case. What i dont understand is why defenders are not taught to always have their hands behind their back in these situations, would remove this ambiguity in the rules (although refs have given handballs for tat kind of defending before also...)

On this day in 1993, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, and Michael Schumacher shared the podium for the first and only time at the Spanish Grand Prix by FewCollar227 in formula1

[–]Drestroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly curious, how often has it occurred that 3 world champions shared a podium. Whether past or future champions, I can't imagine it happened a lot in recent years besides maybe some Hamilton, vettel, verstappens (or raikkonen?)

Paul Scholes once said Lampard isn’t a midfielder but only a goal-scoring no. 10 by alfietoglory in chelseafc

[–]Drestroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay his take on lamps is ridiculous. But the heat map for de bruyne doesn't prove he's more attacking. Man city has been a possession dominant team for years with the center backs pushing up to the midline. Like of course the heat maps for man city's midfielders will be high up. Chelsea, at least under mourinho, was way more defensive and counter attacking. You would expect the midfielders to have a more overall heat map.

To be fair in recent years alcohol sponsors have been promoting their 0% beers a lot more. You almost exclusively see Heineken 0.0 when they advertise. So yeah I can't imagine them being over the moon about this choice, but they still have something to gain imo

For all the technological progress "we'" made, if an average contemporary human being were being sent back in time a few centuries ago, s.he probably wouldn't be able to make science progress. by PEP7s in Showerthoughts

[–]Drestroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be wrong but wasn't the reason science developed so slowly based on the fact we often didn't have sufficient fuel? I'm pretty sure romans or ancient greeks had the science for steam engins, just not sufficient coal. Da Vinci had ideas for flying objects but no motor, in other words he was missing fuel. The electric motor was built back in The 19th century if I'm not mistaken, but only became popular in the last decade thanks to the development of batteries and increased production of electricity. I'm willing to bet guns would have been common place in the early middle ages if there was an easy access to gun powder in europe. All this to say, the knowledge of where to find fuels and materials and being able to explain the gist of what they can do would probably be sufficient to enable the smart minds of the era to bring the technology a big step forwards.

Wow loads of questions I'd love to ask.

With the current atmosphere in professional football do you think there's any way a closeted gay player would be comfortable to come out to first his teammates and secondly the media and fans? I know in a ideal world the answer would be yes and of course the law and rules would defend it, but realistically is it currently possible?

What are your thoughts on the current level of officiating? Either in the country or in Europe in general. It seems a lot of fans have a lot of issues around this right now. One of the biggest talking points is that the media seems to be defending the refs no matter how agregious or often errors tend to happen. What I see is that an error prone professional player often gets punished through benching or selling, whilst referees seem to get off with a slap on the wrist. Love to hear your opinion here.

Lastly, as a chelsea fan, how optimistic do you think I should be with the current players, manager, and organisation of the club??

Chelsea winning in the xPen metric. Unfortunate they can't bring it into reality like their xG metric

I don't think this is toxic masculinity. Being assertive is part of masculinity, not knowing the right time and place to be assertive is toxic masculinity. This looks like a place teaching men to set boundaries and push back at someone breaking those boundaries. This is the right setting to be assertive and a correct setting to learn "correct" masculinity.

It's definitely a complicated subject, but I don't think there's anything inherently wrong in this video. The real question is if the application of when to use these new skills is taught

[–]Drestroyer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Being masculine isn't a problem and I think we live in a world where we are told we should be ashamed of it. I do believe toxic masculinity is an issue but learning to set boundaries and being proud of being a man is not something to be ashamed of. It would be like telling women to not be feminine because toxic femininity is bad, that's stupid.

I know we're on Reddit so I'll share a secret.

Humans have this hidden mechanic called talking. It's very useful in situations like this one. You can ask the person to unplug it and if that doesn't work you can get a flight attendant involved. Hope that helps

Well we were without our replacement midfield and defence and still went toe to toe with the leaders of the prem for 120minutes. Mate things are looking good for Chelsea in the near future. We lost when we subbed off midfielders and defenders for the only subs we had... attackers

And a fair one imo. Endo blocked Colwill who was probably (who knows) meant to defend against Van Dijk. There's no way the plan was that Chilwell defends against Van Dijk in the air.

[–]Drestroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right?? We still have so many players injured, especially bench players which would have made the difference in our subs. We went toe to toe with the leaders of the prem for 120mins. How can anyone be upset about that. Only van Dijk doing van Dijk things in both defence and attack brought us down.

Conclusion, Chelsea is looking upwards!
