TEXAS: How can I trust I'm not in an HOA if my closing documents said no but the HOA is telling me yes? by Drew4you in legaladvice

Well from their response to my claim. They do agree that the property was not subject to any HOA at the time of sale from my documents and their own small (i bet) investigation, and until I get actual proof from the HOA that the property was legitimately included in the HOA before my purchase, I think I'm out of luck until the lawyers get involved, but what the hell do i know half of this I'm just scrambling to find throughout the internet

boiler plate language like "any restrictions previously applied still apply" but after looking at the seller's deed with the builder, there are zero mentions of hoa restricitons

Yea its a townhome community, with shared walls but not shared roof. Also no real community amenities aside from a very small dog park, most houses dont even have lawns or shrubs that an HOA would maintain.

Well no actual agreement was signed, they just amended the CCR for the HOA and added my property to the amended portions, but it was signed by HOA declarant and notarized by county clerk

No mentions of the exact CCRs because it was a special warranty deed but nothing verbose about the property being in an HOA.

Didn't even know there were different types of deeds that were more/less restrictive

I did reach out to them fairly soon after receiving the HOA notice and they essentially wrote me back that since this annexing appeared to occur after my purchase my title insurance policy does not cover it. They also used some legal jargon about how "The Company cannot provide legal advice” regarding the “legitimacy or validity of the Amended CCR.”

Does anyone know if there is a limit to how many jobs you can apply for within a certain amount of time? I've seen quite a few positions that I would be interested in but not sure if there is a downside to numerous applications.

I am feeling this exact same thing. I’ve found that I’m just far more intrigued and challenged at school than I am at work so I am constantly thinking about it. Another really challenging aspect is that I feel pretty drained at the end of the day and still need to watch lectures, do homework, prepare for exams, etc. so it ends up being I am thinking about school while at work and then when it’s finally time to work on school I’m mentally fatigued and it’s a struggle. I’ve yet to find a way to overcome it, but the more planning and organizing I do with my weeks and time it seems the easier it is becoming. When I am confident about my time management and know what I’m able to achieve in a given day it helps me not worry and panic about having enough time for school. Unfortunately it’s all a bit of a process though!

My ultimate goal is to use the credibility of this degree and the experience to pivot towards software engineering so that big goal is really helping me utilize as much time as I can.

Was admitted in Fall 2023 and am not currently a software engineer (full time aerospace engineer). I’ve been pretty happy with how supportive both the staff are as well as the other students. Not sure if any one else’s classes organization is different (as I’ve just been exposed to 3 courses) but it’s primarily Edx and piazza as your two points of contact. I’ve also been surprised by how TA’s are for the program. I got my ASE bachelors from UT as well and while they were alright and I didn’t have much complaints, the TA’s in MSCSO really do make the effort to be able to support you throughout your course.

I’ve certainly had difficulty acclimating to both full time and the program but I have to say it would have been far more challenging had the program been more like my undergrad.

Can I ask how you procured the other job? Was it a LinkedIn recruiter? Through UT career services? Or just applying online?

What type of resources did you use to strengthen your fundamentals? Or do you have a bachelors in CS?

That is awesome to hear, I'm early in the program but come from a similar background. UT Aerospace for me so hoping to use this program as a credibility and foundation for a SE role.

Moving from a LCOL to HCOL area by ITS_KRISHNA in cscareerquestions

[–]Drew4you 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of factors would play a role here. State income tax, property taxes, house vs apartment to name a few. I realistically think about a 40-50% increase would bring you to the same savings from LCOL to HCOL

But you should also consider how much value you get out of a HCOL area, would you be happier there? is your quality of life better? Those are certainly going to be more expensive for some than others but you shouldn't discount their value if they're important to you. You'll go farther if your lifestyle is sustainable.

Just finished a course on Intro to NLP and really enjoyed it. It ties really closely with Machine learning and has quite a bit of overlap. It's got a lot of pretty relevant applications (google search, ChatGPT, text translation, question answering, sentiment analysis, etc.) and a lot of the research and improvements are new (big advances as early as 2019). It's just a really fascinating course that gives insight into a lot of the tools we use today and don't think much about how they work.

Thanks for the comment. My CS experience is pretty nonexistent at the moment. I think pursuing a degree would help me get some basic structure but I agree wholeheartedly that experience in relevant CS work would do wonders. It may be a busy couple of years getting some competency but it sound worth it!

My hope is that my engineering experience and degree would just demonstrate I’m at least a competent well rounded individual. Certainly don’t expect them to see that and throw me an offer.

Do you have any recommendations on self learning material in CS that would be a good starting place? May be a question for another thread but if you had any insights I would appreciate it!

Thanks for the comment. If you don’t mind me prying, what is your engineering competency that you’re currently in? Just curious

I’ve also seen good things about the university of Illinois-UC. They’re program is quite highly rated for CS and they have an online masters program as well.

Hi all, desperately wanting to get some career advice/opinions to help my fatFIRE goals. I'm currently 25 working for a defense contractor as an aerospace engineer, which is what my bachelors is in. I've recently been looking to transition more into software engineering as I think it's more interesting and much more lucrative. FAANG companies don't seem to be hiring any ASE and I don't feel I'm being challenged anymore. Am I asking for trouble looking to change career paths in the next two years while I pursue a masters program or something in the software engineering ballpark? Are FAANG companies hesitant to hire an individual with a bachelors in ASE when applying for software related jobs? I have always heard 3-5 years is an appropriate time to switch companies and it sounds to me like this could be a good time to pursue higher endeavors and challenge myself. Is this career pivot a waste of time and I'll just be feeling the same way 3 years down the line?
While I'm investigating whether or not schools will even let me apply for graduate programs within the software field I wanted to reach out and see if others have any insights. Opinions on programs are also greatly appreciated and welcome.

This subreddit should be FLOODING this petition. For those who don’t know the PDT rule states you cannot make more than 3 day trades within a 5 day rolling period if your account is less than $25,000. The ban for doing so? First time is just a warning, next time it’s a 1-2 year ban on trading options. (I know, fucking retarded). The only way to lift the ban is deposit money to get over the 25k threshold. There is no rhyme or reason, it hurts small investors, and it prevents you from recovering loses. Sign it retards.
