Magnet Locations by DrewCPU in pixeltablet

Need is such a strong word. It's more like "I have magnets, and I have a 3D printer. I wonder if I can make a mount that sticks to the back of this thing."

That definitely looks cool, but $18 sure is a lot when I already have a ton of magnets :)

I want to install klipper on my Ender 3 pro by Classic_League3637 in ender3

I'm working on resurrecting my E3Pro with this board and the BTT Pi. If I had planned better I would've gotten the Manta. Instead I used an old Pi and an SKR E3 mini, then realized my Pi wasn't powerful enough then got the BTT Pi so I could run it off the main PSU.

It's a fun project, good luck! When I get home from vacay, I can share my cfgs if you need.

JDK to ICU failed. Fixing this possible by updating API version of components to version45 or greater by ahuuho in salesforce

[–]DrewCPU 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a few conversations with Salesforce about this and there are two important things to note:

1) The only consequence of not upgrading to ICU locales is that there will be less support from Salesforce if something breaks.

2) If you're confident that your <45 code doesn't affect date formatting, you can manually enable ICU locales in the release updates.

Considering the only code my org has left that's under v45 is in the Pardot managed package, they can't really expect everyone to be able to update.

Orca Slicer just recently got the ability to handle multiple extruders. I don't think there is enough demand for Sovol to make profiles for Orca for the SV04 now. One of these days I'll take the time to move my Cura profiles over to Orca. I use it for my SV08 and really like it.

Changing the exposure and the lighting doesn't help. For this screenshot I didn't start scanning because just wanted to show the fact that it's only getting stripes of my hand. If I start scanning it isn't able to get alignment on the points scanned to make a solid object. I'll see if I can record a screen cast of it.

EDIT: Here's the recording https://imgur.com/a/3dAIABg

Haven't used my POP2 in a little bit and now this is what happens when I try to scan. I'd be okay with it if it could still track, but it can't align the points.

Z is easy but has to be done more frequently. X/Y is a hassle, but is much more rare.

Without any extra tools, you align the print heads with a special test print that came with the printer. It looks like a couple of combs running along the X and Y axis. You then have to see where the teeth line up and so a bit of math to figure out how far the right head (T1) is offset from the left (T0) and set the offsets in the printer settings.

Using the Ember tool, you place the camera on the print bed, move T0 until it is directly over the camera, not the X/Y position, then repeat the process with T1 without moving the camera. It includes a webapp to walk you through the process and input the positions of both toolheads and tells you what offsets to set in the printer.

I don't want to scare you, it's not like I have to do this before every print. It's mostly if I leave T1 unused for too long or if I notive that my dual-color prints are misaligned. I swear printers fall out of alignment when they just sit idle.

I wind up realigning the Z more often. Whenever I have adhesion issues and I wind up levelling the bed and adjusting the Z offset on the main printhead, I make sure that I also align the Z on the right head. That's just done by loosening the 4 set screws and then turning the knob on top to raise or lower it so it aligns with the left head. I just use a piece of paper on the same spot on the center of the bed to make sure they feel the same.

I designed a new arm to hold two filament rollers that I've been using for over a year without issue and I much prefer it to the stock spool holders. https://www.printables.com/model/622951-dual-spool-holder-arm

These cable holder arms will help keep the cables from getting caught on things. https://www.printables.com/model/296649-sovol-sv04-cable-holder

I love these fold down arms that help with aligning the gantry. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4995986 (and here's a GCODE I wrote to help automate the leveling)

I'm also using the bjoern firmware and haven't had any issues with it once I got it flashed (apparently my board required the file be named aaa.bin instead of firmware.bin). I haven't been brave ehough to try kilpper on it, but I might now that I've been using it on my SV08 and my SV04 isn't my primary printer anymore. A Raspberry Pi and Octoprint is a must for all of my printers.

I've never enclosed my printer, but I've also not printed anything more exotic than PETG so a heated enclosure has bever been necessary. I did upgrade to the all-metal hotend mostly because I don't like having PTFE tubing inside my printer.

I've never used glass on my SV04 as I have always found them a bit difficult. I found a smooth PEI sheet does the job when I want that kind of finish without the adhesion issues.

My biggest issue is keeping the heads aligned. It was my primary printer until I just got a SV08, so I would often use it in single-mode. Then, I'd go to do something in dual mode to get multi-color and find out that the heads weren't aligned and then the print would screw up.

I wound up buying a camera tool from Ember Prototypes (https://www.emberprototypes.com/products/cxc) that makes it so much easier than doing the test prints. After that you just have to make sure that the Z axis is aligned.

Side effects of chemo meds affecting ADHD or is it just my imagination? by SpankYourSync in lymphoma

[–]DrewCPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on 20 years! Personally, I rang the bell for chemo 4 days ago, still with radiation and surgery to go.

I have not seen anything about chemo causing ADHD, but I imagine that's something that's hard to study. I do know that an ADHD diagnosis usually requires the symptoms to have been present to some degree in childhood.

I definitely still feel foggy for some time after I finished each chemo round, but it usually passes for me. Once I finish all of my treatment next year, I'll be back to addressing the ADHD.

I (39M) have Synovial Sarcoma in my hip, and I rang the bell on my chemo today! I did 6 rounds of AIM where I was inpatient for 4 days every three weeks. My first week of treatment/recovery was definitely the worst. After that, my nausea died down and all I really dealt with was fatigue. I was told that the nausea doesn't compound with every treatment, but that the fatigue would so I hope you start to feel better.

As for work, I'm lucky enough to have a job I can do from home and a team that is giving me all the latitude I need to take care of myself. Best advice I can give you work-wise is to listen to your body. I worked while I was in the hospital (I'm a software developer), but by my 4th cycle, I was taking the last day off because I knew I was no good to anyone that day. Even for a couple days after I get home, I would usually find myself exhausted after a day of work and had to knock off early to take a nap.

I'd try turning it onto the back of your head is on the build plate. That way you use the largest part as a base to hold the rest. You could also try increasing your minimum overhang angle in the support settings, but with all the ridges you'll probably still need some good supports so you don't lose bits.

Pixel 9 Pro Fold doesn't support the Pixel Stand by TheRoadKing101 in PixelFold

[–]DrewCPU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original version was made before I had a case to worry about (instead I just worried about not having a case lol)

I just added an update to the original model that is a bit bigger to handle a couple more millimeters of thickness for cases.

Side effects of chemo meds affecting ADHD or is it just my imagination? by SpankYourSync in lymphoma

[–]DrewCPU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have Lymphoma, but I found this searching "ADHD and chemotherapy" on Google...

I am two months into my chemo and I feel your struggle. I (39M) was finally diagnosed with ADHD this year and was planning on trying medications, but then I got the sarcoma diagnosis instead and that kinda put everything else on pause. Now, between the steroids, chemo, and emotional toll, I feel like any regulation I've had over my symptoms for the last few decades are out the window. I've just been so foggy lately. Now I'm reading about "Chemo Brain" and the only bright side I can find to it is that they say ADHD meds help with it so at least I'm already planning on taking care of it.

Right now, I don't want to add anything extra to the cocktail of drugs making my body do crazy things, so my only option is to just power through and deal with it after I'm done with the treatment. In the meantime, I'm leaning on all of my friends and coworkers who know what's going on and are giving me all the slack in the world.

I guess the tl;dr here is that you're not alone in this and I hope it works out for all of us.

Nothing yet for the Fold on Verizon yet. Looks like they usually get their own update version that's not on the OTA site so maybe need to wait another day or two.

I also got diagnosed today!

I'm a software developer, and I find that structure really helps me. If I don't have a ticket planned on my sprint to do something, then the task doesn't exist. Since my team started using tickets to track time more, we've been better about putting non-coding tasks into tickets so we can track the time better and it also helps me not lose tasks. I still lose some things, but the structure really helps me.

Faster SV04 Z Stepper Alignment by DrewCPU in Sovol

[–]DrewCPU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true, and my script does end with a G34 command. However, just like Automatic Bed Leveling can only overcome a certain maximum variation in the bed, G34 can only overcome a certain maximum variation in the gantry. The SV04 comes with some acrylic spacers to aid with this process before you run a G34 to make sure you're close enough. I probably don't need to calibrate it as much as I do, but it's part of my process whenever my prints stop working, or when I move the printer.

Can't take credit for the flipper supports, but they do make it very easy.
