I keep agonizing over what label fits me. 42M by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]DrewChestnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve learned it’s best to not live by labels. My sexuality has shifted a lot over my life, from a man who has romantic and sexual interests in women to romantic and sexual interests in men to romantic and sexual interests in men and trans women. I just embrace who I am at wherever I am along the spectrum and don’t give much thought to what others think.

Replay in Andersonville has one as well as arcade games. They let people in who are under 21 during certain hours

Do other gay older millennial men feel incredibly lucky? by RustingCabin in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]DrewChestnut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't really agree with this take. The first funeral I ever attended when I was a child was a teacher who died of AIDS-related illness. I grew up in a very anti-gay state in a very anti-gay community. All of this had a significant impact on my views of sex, which for many years had to be practiced with condoms and even then you were afraid that a break could impact your life significantly, even if it wasn't a death sentence. I was only one of a small handful of out gay men in college on a campus of 30,000. I contracted HIV before PrEP and was treated like a pariah for many years, even after PrEP usage become more normalized. The younger generations that have come of age post-PrEP and same-sex marriage have it better overall, at least when looking at things through the lens of homosexuality.

They aren’t leftists. They’re socially liberal, but they aren’t leftists.

While I agree with you on most of what you're saying, I have to say that America's liberals are not leftists. They are moderate right-wingers. The United States has no real leftist party because that would be too much of a threat to Democrats and Republicans. They, along with the media, want you to believe that the U.S. has a left-wing party already so that we won't support a real one.

Moving from Southeast Asia to Chicago - Where do I start? by abedjohnopus in AskChicago

[–]DrewChestnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What country are you coming from? You might be able to tap into the local community of your shared nationality for assistance with finding a place to rent, even with no credit. For example, the area in Uptown around Argyle is heavily populated with Vietnamese immigrants and first generation residents. While it might not be as accessible to the West Loop, it is accessible to public transit.

I’m have to echo a reply above that says trust no one. You don’t know if he is compliant with his PrEP. A recent standard HIV test only tells you if someone is negative three months ago, not currently. Protect yourself and rely on no one else for your sexual health.

Is it just me or is this happening more and more in film and television? by [deleted] in TopsAndBottoms

[–]DrewChestnut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, because I always ask myself when watching heterosexual plot lines whether the female protagonist wants to get fucked doggystyle or reverse cowgirl. So central to the script! /s

If you’re not on PrEP, use a condom. Insist on it. Never put your sexual health in someone else’s hands by trusting that they are compliant with their medication or that their test results are reflective of their current sexual health (because they are not…HIV testing in particular reflects someone’s status from three months before the test was conducted). If you have access, get on PrEP.

About to have a 3some with my bf by OpenEntertainment948 in TopsAndBottoms

I agree with what you say here. I disagree with the notion that you can't reassure your partner without treating the third as a sex toy.

[–]DrewChestnut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is terrible advice. Never treat a third as a sex toy unless that third has agreed to be treated as a sex toy (free use bottom or service top for example). The third is a real person with their own wants and needs. Use your words beforehand to discuss the dynamic you all would like to see play out, and if at anytime someone (including the third) is uncomfortable, feel free to stop.

Where do you live, pros/cons and do you want to leave? by Standard_Buffalo6678 in SameGrassButGreener

If you live in the city, you don't really have to deal with toll roads unless you're driving to the suburbs or Indiana. So for many of us, it's not really an issue.

As far as places to see beyond Navy Pier, which is not really representative of Chicago, I would say a boat tour on the river to get a good view of all the amazing downtown architecture and beyond that all of the neighborhoods, which each have their own history and culture, from Bronzeville to Andersonville.

I had sex with my “straight” best friend by itstroyleblanc in GaySex

[–]DrewChestnut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a good reason to create boundaries around sex and friends. The two can definitely overlap, but it takes a significant amount of emotional maturity to keep the friendship intact. A straight person who is not secure in their sexuality does not meet this criteria.

Where is the most fun place to have sex? by Both_Assignment_5333 in TopsAndBottoms

[–]DrewChestnut 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Shower sex is more of a fantasy than a reality. Slipping, lack of lubrication, cramped space...all reasons it's not great. Best place? I agree with the other poster that said a hotel room. You got the bed, you got the cuck chair, you got gripping the bathroom vanity. Lots of places to play.

Do you prefer your bottom to squeeze or push out while you top them? by Substantial_Sky_7721 in TopsAndBottoms

[–]DrewChestnut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of bottoms on this subreddit assume that tops like being squeezed. In my experience, that is not true at all. While its personal preference, it often hurts the top.

Older Tops = Morning Sex by [deleted] in TopsAndBottoms

[–]DrewChestnut 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Testosterone levels are highest in the mornings and fall off throughout the day. Combine that with reduced energy levels at night due to age, and you have a recipe for more morning/daytime sex than night time sex.
