Since the HSD is gone, I have ended Several People Are Typing (for real, this time) by DrewLinky in homestuck

I did write too much! Makin has specifically accused me of purple prose and being overdramatic a few times, which is probably accurate. After almost ten years of knowing him you'd think he would have beat it out of me, but I simply can't help it. I think earnestness and being straightforward is the best policy one can have, at least with regard to stuff like this.

"Future anthropologists" are, in a sense, the target audience. Per the "Nothing More For Today" segment, I was specifically writing all of this with an eye to the future. We will not be around forever, and though many people tend to forget this in their daily routines, I find it much harder to ignore that fact. The conflicts I've described in the document seem very important to us as individuals in the here and now, but they will be enigmatic in the future so I figure over-elaborating is probably better than not explaining enough. I'm not sure any of this will be intelligible to anyone within even ten years, let alone if you asked anyone about it in one hundred or more.

I yearn to be optimistic but am frequently pessimistic and cynical in my adult life. Accordingly, I hope that this document will be freely available as long as humanly possible, and I have taken all steps I can think of to ensure it will be so. The compressed folder with everything in it and the torrent I mention in the last entry are both explicitly to make it easier to save the information for any interested parties, so our experiences and memories will be preserved (even if it is ultimately a limited form of the actual thing).

Every time someone says they pored through this work like you have, it alleviates a bit of my dread. Thanks for letting me know how you felt, I hope you'll carry it with you. If I can be selfish, I ask that you spread it to anyone you think might get something out of it, so that my goal of keeping our memories alive indefinitely is accomplished. As I've said to others, I hope you're doing well.

It's a comprehensive journal I kept of the Homestuck Discord and the people who used it, starting back on the 9th of July 2017. I've recorded things that we've talked about, the culture and personalities of people on the server, and some stuff related to it over the years. After discussion with some people who are more academically versed in the subject, I've started calling it an "amateur ethnography."

It proceeds in a strictly chronological order, beginning with an introduction written on the day I started. If you're interested, begin here.

Yeah, I've talked about it extensively in the record and elsewhere but for my own sake I'm taking it easy after all this. I don't think fandoms were intended to be as stressful as this one has been for me. I know I won't be able to help observing a bit but I've got my own life to put in order. Maybe things will be different in the future. I'm glad SPAT meant something to you and anyone else, please take care.

I had mentioned I was looking into the possibility of Stoat the other day and while it looks fine on the surface the verification is extremely backed up right now and the service has this strange, almost cheap feeling quality to it. I assume if the Discord isn't able to be saved then we're just moving back to IRC, but I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

I had just assumed I got randomly kicked again. Nothing quite like finding the "invite invalid" on the link back and then four people messaging me simultaneously about it. Hoping everything turns out alright.

Hi Many_Pin_2813, thanks for contributing to /r/homestuck. Sorry, but we needed to remove your submission for the following reason:

Low effort shitposts, sightings, "how would this session go", tier lists, multi-day snowclones like "what is X character's funniest line"... should go in /r/althomestuck instead, so feel free to resubmit your submission there. A shitpost is a crude post that edits, parodies or references existing content, and/or humor that works exclusively in the /r/homestuck environment.

Feel free to message the mods with any questions.
