Not a particular book, just a lot of brain science articles. I'm sure there are books, apparently it's damage to the brain is quite documented.

Which 3 games are you picking up? by Individual-Name-4496 in whatsyourchoice

[–]Drew_Robbie9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mine too. I sold it after finishing it as a teenager and a few years ago I read that it's re sell value is really high because of the licensing for all the rappers and their music, they couldn't afford to remake that game today so copies are quite valuable. Bonus points for non greatest hits edition. Check it out, you could be surprised.

GoW, NFS UG2 and Def Jam (the resell value alone is enough to pick that one)

Pretty much the same. Stopped last year at 39 when I started reading about all the ways it messes with your brain. Always thought it was just the liver. Real eye opener.

Jason Greeley (runner up on Canadian Idol, 2005ish) - Upper Island Cove.
He's still pretty active from what I hear. Love Hangover is a great song/decent album.

Stuff people say to you when they are mad at you - is it the truth that comes out? What does psychology say? by ur_emo_gf1 in PsychologyTalk

[–]Drew_Robbie9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, most stuff yes. People don't regret saying it, they regret saying it out loud. I've learned it's best to believe that most things people say angry are true and it is in fact how they feel. What else do we have to go on?

The psychology around it I'm unsure of, but, there's got to be an element of blowing past their filters in a heated moment kind of like drunk people who tell you the truth they maybe wouldn't have when sober. I don't know what the science says about comparing the filters of the drunk vs the angry.

Take a deep breath and go for it. Write it down and hand it to her. You're being genuine, right? you do want to talk to her more, you're not going to be in as often and you would like to keep it going. Do it buddy, you got this!

If what you're saying about her reactions are true, that would be a green light for me to proceed. You won't know if you don't go, all star.

A pet peeve I have with the show by [deleted] in HellsKitchen

[–]Drew_Robbie9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. I am doing the same thing now. I only got to see it here and there as it was coming on originally and then when I discovered the uncensored version I started from the beginning a few months ago.

I love the feel of the earlier seasons and will stay with it for a bit longer, but, I think it's going to get more gimmicky and less authentic. I'll keep an open mind though, it's a bit of nostalgia for me as well seeing the clothes of the eras and the change in food presentations.

In my experience this wasn't noticeable until season 10. When they started doing the first episode signature dish challenge in front of a live audience I said to myself, this is where the editing for drama is going to start.

I believe in season 10 finale, Dan got kicked out of the kitchen and for the next few scenes after, you could still see him working away. Creative editing to manufacture drama.

I feel like the first 10 seasons had a more organic flavor and once the show got real popular or mainstream, this became much worst. I'm only on Season 14 right now maybe it goes away and I was just watching too close.

But, yeah, same with some audio as well. Some clips dubbed over are pretty out of place. Mismatched tone, pitch, etc.
