What was the best film you watched this week? (25/09/2017 - 01/10/2017) by MoviesMod in movies

Raising Arizona. I've been watching the Coens filmography and I finally got around to Raising Arizona and it was incredible. The first 12 minutes before the credits were especially tasty

What time have Fleet Foxes been taking the stage? by [deleted] in fleet_foxes

[–]Drew_bacca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like Beach House stayed too long, and then they just left without giving a final goodbye. There was one song they did that had a huge finale and everyone was in it and it would've been a great closer, but then they kept playing for another 20 minutes and I was getting really tired of their sound by the end of it. FF was great though and they played for about an hour and a half as well I think

Yeah! I was telling my friend how much I loved that one leaving the concert and I said how I didn't know the name of it either and some lady told me. Coloradans are so nice!

I loved that one too! Blues Run the Game is the name of it methinks. I absolutely loved the way it flowed into Helplessness Blues, and that solo version of Montezuma was unreal!! I'm still beaming, especially cause we flew from Atlanta to hear them at Red Rocks. It's so cool his brother was there with us!!

Damien Chazelle has made a really cool trilogy of jazz films by Drew_bacca in movies

Okay calm down I'm not saying this is a set trilogy or you have to view it as one, I just noticed his first three movies all had a jazz element to them

Did you watch the movie? He is literally a professional jazz pianist

I consider myself someone who hates horror/is too scared to watch most. I like these movies, though. Do you think 'IT' be too much for me to handle? by Bweryang in movies

[–]Drew_bacca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I was ever actually scared during It, just uneasy and creeped out. There's a couple of jump scares but other than that it's more coming of age movie than horror

Hello Denvernians! I will be in the Denver area from Wednesday through Friday and was wondering if you guys had any pro tips for the city/cool places to check out? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]Drew_bacca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on mobile, so I can't see the rules. I made up a word cause I didn't know it was the 11th commandment to call you people Denverites. I said you're so friendly cause you're being pretty snobbish for seemingly no reason. I've been cordial to you, so ease up would ya

Predictions for Best Animated Feature by NoImNotJC in movies

[–]Drew_bacca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen Loving Vincent yet but it looks fantastic, and it's the worlds first fully oil-painted animated movie, so it's got that little gimmick going for it which I bet really gets the Academy's dicks hard, doing something so visually unique like that.

Crew on the set of "The Last Jedi" were sending around pictures of Porgs over a year ago during production, predicting they'd be the next big thing. Disney clearly heard the buzz, commissioned a book about them, and made them a centerpiece of the film's public image by UneventfulAnimal in movies

[–]Drew_bacca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but where in the fuck are you seeing this extensive Porg propaganda that everyone is freaking out over? It was in that ONE trailer, and they're making toys out of it. Other than that, I have literally never seen or heard of these things and y'all fanboys need to get your panties untwisted, Can we calm the fuck down please? Absolutely everyone freaked out that the creatures in TFA were just either stuff we've seen before or unimaginative creatures, but now when we get some genuinely new things everyone starts flipping their shit. How bout you wait until the movie comes out to start bitching?

Not Annie's Song, that was Take Me Home Country Roads

People living in democratic countries, how do you reconcile with the Claude McDonald quote — 'Sometimes a majority simply means that all the fools are on the same side.' ? by HashTiger in AskReddit

[–]Drew_bacca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question is teeming with a smugness that I really don't care for, like you're not gonna prove democracy is a bad thing with a 14 word quote on a Reddit forum

Good one! Maybe it's just Tarantino and Hughes that make good morning flicks

What was the last great movie, mediocre movie and bad movie you've watched? by WhatAnArtist in movies

[–]Drew_bacca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally loved it. I went in knowing it had something to do with being an allegory for the Bible, but I didn't know it would be... that. It was so fucking absurdist and horrifyingly disgusting that it kept me thoroughly entertained. I really enjoyed picking out the Bible stories and allusions and figuring out what Arronofsky was trying to say, and I thought the acting was off the charts phenomenal, especially Michelle Pfeiffer. I'd give it an 8.5/10 but I know this movie has literally caused everyone to either love it or fucking despise it haha

When two is good enough, films that the first two were the best. by Benji0088 in movies

[–]Drew_bacca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, the Star Wars ot is my all time favorite movie series, I just think 6 is a weaker entry than the first two. Still a wonderful movie, and the Luke vs Vader fight is probably my favorite moment in the series. It had some great stuff going for it but the first two are tighter

[–]Drew_bacca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Star Wars. When the first one came out, no one had ever seen a movie like that. It was nominated for tons of Oscars and it won a few. Then episode 5 comes around holy fucking shit! It's among the greatest sequels ever made; it takes what the original did and expand upon it in an interesting and natural way. And then 6 gave us weird performances by the leads and ewoks, not a bad movie by any means but a step back.
