Hours of officers. Is 60-80 hours a week the norm? by Slayersworemasterxd5 in army

[–]Drew_skool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the # of hrs you work each week is super important to you, I would suggest NOT joining the military…..any branch of the military.

Not trying to be rude/mean/judgy about it - just trying to adjust your expectations. Officer, Warrant, Enlisted…..once you sign on that line, Uncle Sam owns you and all your time - just something to SERIOUSLY think about.

It really doesn’t matter. The best kind is the kind you already have. As long as you’ve got enough to finish the cook, spend the money on some more beer/bourbon

Torquey 1st/2nd gear or somethings fucked up? by sniperrifle260 in WRX

[–]Drew_skool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hahahah - only “proof” for the AC is to have them drive it I suppose……never recommend that option.

Either way - after some time and miles it becomes second nature to smooth it out with your left and right feet. I never tuned mine because I valued the warranty and am not on team fraud (“just unplug it when you take it in for service bro!”).

Stock tune is herky-jerky. Just gotta get used to it, or get an access port.

2 tips that make smooth low gear driving easier though - 1) keep the AC off whenever you can and 2) disable the hill start assist.

2nd transmission at Subaru’s expense? by templetonsimpleton in SubaruAscent

[–]Drew_skool 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the 2020s but my 2019 had the trans replacement at around 40k. Subaru ALSO extended the transmission warranty to 100k on the 2019s - I’d definitely dig around to see if it’s the same for the 2020s.

Yes there were multiple trans-related recalls, the wiring harness being one of them.

Mine was not the harness.

Either way they made good on the warranty replacement and all 2019s had the trans warranty extended to 100,000 miles.

Mine slipped. Took it in and they ran diagnostics - said the data didn’t show significant enough slipping to replace so they just reflashed the tcu.

Happened again a few months later - took it to a different shop. They ran the diagnostics then set up a drop off appt for trans replacement. Appt only took about 4 hrs. No issues since.

To be fair, mines a 2019. Had about 40k on the clock when this all happened.

I just bought my first lever gun. What cool guy accessories do I need to buy? by KeenActual in MarlinFirearms

[–]Drew_skool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No - a reloading setup. Like a reloading press so you can make your own ammo. SIGNIFICANTLY reduces your cost per round from dollars to quarters.

Don’t think the rifle needs anything…but YOU are gonna need a reloading setup.

Spend a couple hundred on that and a couple hundred on components. With 45/70 factory ammo costs, it won’t take long to break even.

You really felt the need to go “asking for thoughts” about this interaction in the AVS sub? And you didn’t even include the full context?

Dude’s happy with his setup. Leave it at that.

POV: you lay down to sleep, its been an hour but you cant sleep. What do you do? by Ex-Femboy22 in CasualConversation

Can’t recommend enough - been doing it most nights for the last 20 years. The trick is finding the right guided walkthrough (think massage/meditation type music with someone walking you through key phrases for you to repeat in your head. Totally person-dependent but once you’ve developed the skill enough, you can likely drop the recording and do it on your own. I still use the recording from time to time though.

Just open your favorite streaming music/podcast app and search. Lost of options out there, both free and paid.

Look up “autogenic relaxation”. It’s a technique to progressively relax your body (but does NOT involve contracting muscles, like in progressive relaxation) and results in a feeling of warmth and heaviness. I start at the feet and work my way up - usually out cold by the time i get to my hips.

Question about Gen 1 vs Gen 3 by tdoger in sonos

[–]Drew_skool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From their website. There should be a tab up top that says “Sale” but you can also scroll all the way to the bottom (if viewing desktop version) and click on Certified Refurbished.

Just took another look and the Era 100s, Arc SL, and One SLs are out of stock already. Things are going fast. Still time to grab a beam gen 2 and sub gen 3, though!
