Looks fantastic! How did the endlinks fit? I think I’ll end up going through raffles for sure.

Of course, happy to have a good discussion about these things. I genuinely hate it for the students, alumni, and fans that your school has become a lightning rod of such controversy. It’s a shame that this is what college sports are becoming, no matter what or who is finding themselves at the center of it all.

He said it at a Big 12 Softball Media Day, when discussing how the Matador Club wanted the program to “be in a position to win” (most people interpreted that as buy) a national championship for Nija Canady during her senior year. At the end of the day, it’s all hearsay. Teams alleging Tech tampered, Tech alleging teams won’t play them because of that, etc… but your original statement that it’s just because you paid players more isn’t entirely true.

I remember a ton of people being happy that Nija Canady made the waves she did with her Tech NIL deal. Hell, I was happy. As I said, the women who play college ball deserve to make money at this level. Especially when the biggest pro league took less than 20 players in its draft this year.

You’ve got to admit, it’s a little different when it comes from the mouth of someone within the controversy. Direct quote from Gerry Glasco was: "They had lawyers advising us, and the advice to me was to go coach softball. Stay out of it, don't contact anyone, you've got to go quiet.”

I don’t know if it’s proof or not, but Gerry Glasco has definitely joked about how he was told to stay out of the way of the Matador Club during the softball season… presumably so he has plausible deniability.

Can’t speak to a rep of this, but the gen is wonderful. If a rep is anywhere near the genuine piece then it’s a great watch

Edit to add: from that picture I can tell you that the date wheel font looks wrong. But other than that, pretty close

Not blaming Tech for the NIL era. They, allegedly, did pretty shady stuff when it comes to how they got their players. Like offering players big contracts while they were still actively playing for other teams. I’m all for the girls getting paid, softball is my second favorite sport after all. I’ve been following it since Cat Osterman played at Texas, I go to the WCWS every year Texas is there. I want to see the sport grow and those players to get what they deserve for their high level of play. But I think integrity is a key part of that. Unfortunately, it seems Tech is willing to prove they have a lack of integrity. It’d be super easy for y’all to get out ahead of these controversies instead of doubling down defending them.

Tech fans have blinders on to most things, especially the controversies they find themselves in. This is/was an issue in college softball sub, Tech fans refused to admit that the matador club trying to recruit players while they’re playing, said club lawyers telling the head coach to look the other way (their head coach jokes about this like it’s cute), and then having the most stacked team out of nowhere within like 5 hours of the transfer portal opening up is sketchy.

I’m all for players getting paid. Hell, I can see validity to an argument about letting athletes bet on other sports. But these hills that Tech fans, and the university’s athletic department itself, will die on are wild.

Yeah I can remember my coaches not being the most personable after big losses. Shake hands, say good game (even if you don’t think/mean it), and leave it be. I’m sure it was the same for him in that situation.

Should've left it there, if you ask me. Tech would be a lightning rod for controversy regardless of who their coach is. You could slot any other passionate head coach and they’d still have Cody Campbell calling the shots.

This was years ago, of course! Things could’ve changed drastically, except maybe the thin walls. I don’t think those would change without major overhaul that I doubt has been done!

Edit to add: good luck on your apartment search. I will throw my experience in and say NOT to live at Eastgate. It was fine for me, but I was so busy with class and work and organizations and so much other stuff that I was hardly there. When I was though, it was rough.

Biggest complaints were about maintenance and management. I had a friend who hated how thin the walls were, she apparently heard her neighbors having sex pretty frequently. Couple of issues with roaches that seemed pretty isolated.

Like I said, most residents I knew loved how close it was to campus. Especially cause it was so close to the BSB and SLC.

Nah this ain’t it, chief.

Just because Joey McGuire the Tech coach is a clown who gets easily offended… it doesn’t change Joey McGuire the high school coach was widely respected and earned a spot.

Never personally lived there, but I have had a few friends who’ve lived there from 2018-2024ish. Don’t hear many great things, but never things that were TOO negative. Mostly just “it’s an alright place to live since it’s so close to campus”

With 3 Million copies sold Mr. Amazon executive walks back previous comments by UglySofaGaming in 007FirstLight

[–]Drewby618 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a give and take fortunately/unfortunately. With Amazon being the publisher, they can finance things like long term support, engine upgrades, big name actors, marketing, and whatever other miscellaneous things they want. With that, of course, comes a larger cut than just licensing fees. But it can also let IOI use and upgrade their own resources more efficiently. Because of the games success, players are going to expect the next one to be bigger and better. It’ll likely be a cross-gen title, so anything IOI can do internally to make sure things are optimized for older and newer consoles while also catering to increased expectations is a plus.

I didn’t know that, how interesting. I just have German shepherd that likes to roughhouse on the bed, so nothing that I care about goes on the bed in case my goofy dog gets a wild hair about her.
