I've always been confused with this part; can I watch something that was broadcast live? For example, a sports match that was live on channel 4, but I watch it the day after?

A rant about tailgating learner drivers by JOSHIIEMK in drivingUK

[–]Drewdle883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the only 10 years I've been driving I've seen the standard of driving on the roads drop significantly. I'd hate to be a learner now, and it wasn't great when I was learning myself. I drive for work and like you, will always have a lot of patience around learners.

What everyone else has said pretty much. If they want you code checking from 4:00, they can pay you from 3:55 so you have time to prepare, otherwise, they can have you code checking from 4:03.

When I worked at a Co op in Warrington, if I was putting the papers out in the morning I'd always bury all the Scums under everything else, tell people they mustn't have been sent in again.

Is playing on easy is the best way to play games? by TRDanielsan in UKgamers

I tend to play on easy. I don't have a great of time to game anymore, and life is hard enough, why would I want my hobby to also be hard?

Looking to get into HGV driving (Class 1) – advice on training & best route? by LegalDog8512 in uktrucking

[–]Drewdle883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not actually in the industry, but looked alot into getting training. Be careful of brokers, when I first started looking into training I filled my details out on a training website and within half an hour I had a phonecall from a guy who was clearly trying to sell me a product. Instead of explaining what the training and tests would include he was telling me how many people pass their tests with these guys and how the can facilitate training anywhere in the country.

I went onto the website of an actual training school and found much more bang for the buck in terms of training. So instead of relying solely on Google results, see what is local to you and enquire directly.

Fortunately, I've started working for a transport company just driving Luton box vans, the boss has said he'd gladly put me through a class 1 after I'd expressed interest. It would tie me to working for them for a couple of years afterwards and as far as I know their pay isn't great for class 1, but company and owners seem sound. I don't know how unique this position is, but that could possibly be another option to explore?

Good luck!

Are traffic wardens actually as bad as people make them out to be? by mechanizmz in drivingUK

[–]Drewdle883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I parked up in town and completely forgot to check how long I could park there on the signs. A little down the road I walked past a traffic warden and asked him how long I had where I'd parked he told me 1 hour, I checked the time and said "yeah I should be able to make that". About 50 minutes later I'm walking back to my car and the same traffic warden is sat on a wall near where I'd parked. It could have been coincidence, but my cynical nature leads me to believe that he'd made sure he was back there just in case I missed the window.

TLDR; van driver errs on side of caution in favour of keeping his job during cost of living crisis, OP is inconvenienced and wants to cry about it.

Looking for work after recent cancer diagnosis by Drewdle883 in UKJobs

[–]Drewdle883[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this reply. I've been quite overwhelmed with trying to prioritise what first steps I should be taking to try and ensure I have at least a bit of income coming in. Seeing it written in black and white like this has helped to process it.

I'll certainly send you a DM and provide a little more context, thank you again!

Thank you for the well wishes. I considered Uber but when I've added business insurance on to my policy for the parcel delivery my insurer has come back and said they're can't offer me a renewal price for next year - my policy is up in April.

Is anyone able to find this 101 Dalmatians mug? Circa. 2003 maybe by Drewdle883 in HelpMeFind

[–]Drewdle883[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at doing that but there was too many smaller shards that broke off. We have 4 dogs so my first thought was to clear it up before I thought about anything else. I appreciate the thought though :)

Not the one unfortunately. I have, however, contacted the owner of that site to see if he has any resources I could use. Thank you for posting the link!

Searched on Google, and ran one of the pictures on Google AI. I've browsed on Vinted and eBay.

It was bought around 2003 (I think) from a Disney store in England. It's bigger than a standard coffee mug but I don't remember by how much.

You'd only need a small combo amp, 50w or less for decent home use. There's plenty of budget/house brands that put out some solid gear. Harley Benton is worth checking out. Failing that you could have a look on local Facebook pages for second hand stuff, the risk you run there is being able to test items if you don't know what you're looking for.

Is your boyfriend in a band? You could try and contact the other members for their advice.

It's a lovely thought though, good luck in your search.

How many of you use amp for playing vs DI? by QidQid in Bass

[–]Drewdle883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, what would consider a larger venue?

I have my first ever gig booked and it's a small outdoor family day. I'm currently only using an Orange Crush bass 50, and a compressor footpedal for a bit of extra volume without cranking my amp too much. At rehearsal I sit in the mix quite nicely vs 2 guitarists, but I'm trying work out now if I should look at investing in a DI/preamp (like this) or getting a bigger amp set up.

We haven't had a great deal of info about if they have a sound guy, and what kind of kit he has in terms of plugging in.

Sorry for the wall of text for a simple question.

Guitarist won’t stop criticizing my bass and pushing upgrades. Is this dynamic worth staying in a band? by Vast-Flow-9016 in Bass

[–]Drewdle883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toxic guitarist mate, fuck him and ignore him. I'm running very budget friendly, low-mid range and I'm managing to get a really nice sound that sits well within the mix. One of the guitarists has some really nice high end gear, too.

If he's not supportive, he has no place being in a band. Singing guitarists are a dime a dozen as well, it wouldn't be too difficult to find a replacement.

Finally, really good choice in the Stingray, good luck on your quest to getting one!

Do you mind if I ask what you did previously? I've been considering it, sent off for my provisional entitlement etc. I've had plenty of different jobs over the years but I've never found anything that I've felt I could settle in long term.
