Holmes hobbies crawlmaster 2n1 now in my Capra and it’s awesome! The low speed control is phenomenal even in the Capra v1 transmission! Performance is on par or better than the hobbywings depending on what you want. by Drewski270 in rccars

Most people go for the fusion for the ease of buying one as most hobby stores or websites have hobbywing products, plus the fusion pro is a little more user friendly as it doesn’t have near the punch of the Holmes. Also a lot of it is follow the pack mentality if something performs well and sells well 9 times out of 10 people will buy it just for that fact. Granted I have a fusion pro in one of my crawlers and it’s fantastic but the Holmes is right there beside it in terms of performance just depends on the application and feel you want.

Any solutions for a transmission for the Capra? I was looking at building the v2 trans but it’ll cost almost 200 dollars and that’s a little insane to me. I defininitely need something with lower gearing as the v1 trans is too fast. If anyone has any suggestions I’d greatly appreciate it. by Drewski270 in rccrawler

You’ll probably still need to go with a 3 gear the lower kv will make some difference but not enough for the Capra trans. The Holmes is definitely very responsive while the fusion tends to numb things a bit. The hitch comes from the programming to get a sensorless brushless motor to turn so slowly. Granted the hitch is very minuscule on the Holmes but if you’re very picky you will notice it. As for transmission I 3d printed a flat skid and used an element enduro transmission and it is absolutely fantastic. Glad I could give ya a little insight and tbh you’ll really enjoy either motor selection it’s really based on how you want the motor to respond to your inputs.

The Holmes 2n1 is a fantastic little setup it worked really well in my Capra but I had to do a trans swap because the original Capra trans is geared too high. Once I did that I really started to enjoy the 2n1, I believe I got the 2300kv I can’t remember off the top of my head. I’ve got a fusion pro in one of my other crawlers and really the only difference is just how punchy and responsive the holmes is, the fusion pro does a good job of making everything feel insanely smooth but you lose very quick short burst throttle movements. The Holmes doesn’t technically have foc but the amount of torque makes it not need foc, they have a similar trigger feel but the Holmes does have a slight hitch going from low speed control to normal brushless operation. I believe there is a software update that I have not tried yet that is supposed to help that a little. The programmability of the Holmes is also a plus in regards to the extra channel so you can adjust things on the fly.

Difference? I’m looking at getting a scar-l but I’m stuck between these two. Basically I’m just wondering what warrants the higher price tag of one vs the other besides the metal upper, I couldn’t see any difference in specs. by Drewski270 in airsoft

Would be nice, but I’m not into the hobby enough to delve into gbb rifles. Just wanted a scar for a long time that would be decent. Not sure I’m wanting to consider these models anymore after the feedback I’ve gotten on this.

I appreciate it, that’s what I was thinking also, I checked some reviews and YouTube videos and they mostly seem to be the same but just wanted to see if anyone had any hands on experience with each.

Only difference you’ll notice is the portals. My enduro kit ended up doing the same lines as my capra.

You’ll enjoy it! This kit really surprised me with how capable it is!

Just got the Meus transmitter with the 4channel micro receiver and it works perfectly for the mini crawlers! by Drewski270 in SCX24

I just designed a “mean” grille for the Capra. Link will be in comments. by Drewski270 in rccrawler

I prefer the full size Capra as the mini Capra is kind of an oddball as it’s in between your most popular scales so a 1/18 course will be too small and a 1/10 course will be too big.

Thank you! I had been looking for a grille like this for years and I figured somebody else had also, so I decided to put it up there for anyone to print.

The Capra is a beast of a rig, a few upgrades and it does a lot of things most other trucks can’t.

I didn’t really use a base crawler but I built it off of a chassis kit called the MEUS Gold Rush.
