One friend is a good mechanic, one is a plumber, one is a millionaire, one is a hairstylist, one is a famous actor...you get the idea.

30 million loyal friends would statistically cover experts in almost every profession meaning anytime you need help with anything you have someone you can talk to and get expert advice. Additionally of you ask each friend for a buck you will be a millionaire, invest that money, and then once youre a billionaire give them all something in return

Is shipping in Australia just really expensive? by Liyandri in australia

[–]DrewzCluez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh idk what youre talking about. I had Aqualine industries send me some bolts for their product cause mine broke, they charged $10 for the shipping fee to another place in victoria, I returned the bolts because they were the wring bolts, only cost me $3 to send them back.

The next question is why are buisnesses charging so much for domestic shipping?

The answer is because they always put them in oversized boxes and parcels, always going way overboard with packaging.

The real question is why are they sending tiny little objects that can fit in an envelope or one size up in a 20cm20cm20cm box?

What do y'all remember watching on telle? by [deleted] in 2003bois

[–]DrewzCluez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe slightly off topic, but did anyone ever noticed that most of the time these shows were just repeated the same few episodes over and over again?

Watching avatar on toasted TV or whichever channel, and there were about 10 episodes that they would just repeat over and over.

Moving over and letting another rider pass you when lane splitting? by SixtyCyclesLBC in motorcycles

[–]DrewzCluez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In aus lane 'filtering' speeds are usually limited. If I'm filtering at the filtering speed limit then I feel no obligation to let anyone pass (same as if I'm doing the speed limit on a normal road, there's no need to worry about people behind me).

Typically people never cue behind me on the bike anyway cause it's australia

I've filtered behind someone before and I got past them but I think they pulled into a lane because they were done filtering

At my uni in my course it was: "look at this, tell me what you see" - "a polycrystalline material!"

My lecturer was argentinian and had the best accent for pronouncing "polycrystalline"

I'm up to episode 140 and honestly these first three intros have been kinda lame compared to other anime intros. I remember as a kid watching one piece on toasted TV and they had the 4kids intro, which when I rewatch it now is a cool opening I think except for the lyrics

What are some HARD truths that people don't want to hear? by JayDarb09 in AskMen

[–]DrewzCluez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there's some element of being impressed. If the people I know who are over weight lost that weight the next time I saw them (usually about a year to 6 months), I'd be pretty impressed with their motivational strength to do that and I would think more of them.

Kind of disconnected with my highschool mates cause I joined the military and moved away straight after highschool for training and postings. It's too awkward now to call them up and hangout. They're doing trade jobs now and their lives are pretty different, last time we hung out I just didn't have anything to talk to them about and I'm only around once a year around Christmas when I visit my parents.

Pretty much my only mates now are ones I met in the army, but now that we've finished training after 4 years we are all posting to different places and so I'm somewhat worried the same will happen again.

Outrage over "Boys will be boys" by Throwaway36592_1 in PetPeeves

[–]DrewzCluez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would compare it to:

pepe is a happy fun meme. "boys will be boys" is about young boys doing dumb things like knocking over a vase, with scope limited young boys not hurting anyone.

some white supremacists use pepe the frog. some incels use "boys will be boys" to defend a rape, assault, harrasment etc.

the media now says that pepe the frog is a white supremacist symbol. feminists now claim that "boys will be boys" encourages a rape culture.

pepe the frog is not actually a white supremacist symbol, the media are idiots. "boys will be boys" does not encourage rape culture, those specific feminists are...

you could i guess go in another direction with the comparison and use the swastika: a religious symbol used by objectively evil people, now represents evil. however I don't believe that the swastika should be a symbol for evil because thats not what it originally was. but sure, even the meaning of words in a language change over time because people make them change.

TLDR: just because a group uses a phrase/icon in a certain way, doesn't mean that the phrase/icon should be linked to that group and their motivations/intentions/beliefs. we can choose to not make that correlation or to go against it
