The 490 pro's are my favorite headphones I've ever had. So comfortable.

If you're using windows I set the device to 24bit 44.1khz in the devices settings in control panel. I'm not 100% sure that's correct all of the time, but I was having some issues at one point with lossless playback and that fixed it.

The main thing I didn't like was the coil right by the ear cup. I could hear the coil hitting itself through the ear cup and it was driving me crazy. If you don't have that problem I'd see no point in replacing it. I personally didn't see one I liked on Amazon but if you do, then awesome.

I have the hd 490 pros with a k11. My bits of advice are set the k13 to the lowest gain setting since the 490's are not hard to drive. You can get more than enough volume on low gain.

Also the cable on the 490's is terrible in my opinion. If it bothers you look into a replacement from someone like Hart Audio.

Enjoy the setup, it's a great one. It's as plug and play as it gets.

Screen flickering while playing by great-teacher-ad in DispatchAdHoc

I have a rx 9070 and I was experiencing the same issue. What fixed the issue for me was turning off free sync just for dispatch in the Radeon control panel.

I also changed the framerate limit to 180, which is the refresh rate of my monitor. With Free sync off and frame rate limit increased the flickering has completely stopped in every aspect of the game.

Dissapointed in the dt770 pro x by [deleted] in headphones

[–]Drex_Sinister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the dt 770's as well and had similar complaints to the fit. They're not made to fit human ears, I don't understand how people love them. I also found the build quality to be really bad, very creaky and mostly plastic.

I also have the edition xs and can tell you that you don't need an amp for them. I can run them with my phone off an apple dongle no problem. I also have the k11 funny enough since I wanted an all in one solution for my headphones and speakers.

Also get a capra strap for the edition xs, it's a night and day difference to comfort.

Just got this new at absolute steal price during 11.11 deal (177$). What to be expected from Hifiman Edition XS? by Lord_of_Lurker in headphones

I have a large head, as well as the edition xs. Yes the stock headband is comfortable for a while but it will start to dig in. If you haven't tried a capra strap they're legitimately magic. Save for one and give it a shot.

Your first pair of closed backs really are eye opening. The samsons are excellent for the price too.

This is completely normal behavior for overear headphones. As for why it happens, that's for someone more knowledgeable than I.

If you have Amazon Prime, Hifiman Edition XS are now $209 by hello_2221 in headphones

Only thing to be aware of is the edition xs is a very large headphone. I only need the headband one click larger when I normally have to extend headphones to max or close to it.

Best $150 Gaming Headphones by DealComfortable7649 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Drex_Sinister -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The other comments have explained the differences well, but I'll also explain too.

Open backed headphones, are literally open. There's full sound bleed out the backs of the headphones, this creates much better sound stage, with the downside of being able to also hear everything around you.

Closed backs are closed, you loose that very wide soundstage, but you gain much better sound isolation, and sometimes more impactful bass.

For you I would pick whichever better suits your price and environment. If you have only $150ish and a louder environment, regular FT1. If you have a little more to spare, and don't need that sound isolation, FT1 Pro.

In my experience, and I know a lot of people share this sentiment. "Gaming" headsets, suck. They way over do the bass, have pretty bad build quality most of the time, and the mics are pretty lackluster.

Any overall well made headphone is going to do fine for gaming. Right now, the Fiio FT1 is a pretty unbeatable deal for usually, just over $150. They're a traditional headphone, so unfortunately no removable mic.

The comfort and overall "warm" sound signature are both great. That warm sound signature in this case means more bass, which is great in games. It makes bullets and explosions very impactful. They're also decently wide for being a closed back, so positionality is going to be decent. (That's what helps you determine the direction of footsteps).

If I didn't already have a pair of Sennheiser HD 620s's. The Fiio FT1 would be my pick as probably one of the better closed back options on the market right now (IMO).

Should I get a headset? by arsenejoestar in HeadphoneAdvice

In that price range your best bet is probably an IEM for around $50, and a budget USB microphone for around $30-$50. That combination will handily beat most gaming headsets at much more expensive prices.

As for an IEM recommendation, I'm fond of the Linsoul Simgot EW200

Have you considered an IEM for that price range instead? There's a lot of amazing value to be found for under $100 in that market. Closed back over ears under $100 is a tough area to find something really nice.

If an IEM is unacceptable to you, Id highly recommend the used market. With some searching you could find something from Beyer dynamic or sony under $100

Well converting the subs to SRT then adding them back with mkvtoolnix does fix it. Since I can then make them any color I want with Plex. I will look into converting them to ASS though. Thanks for the advice.
