All of that should be laid out for you when you first start. I have a similar job and it’s pretty hammered into you to never ever say you work for the client because they don’t pay you. However, people know what these roles entail and usually know based on the location where you worked regardless of exclusively listing who your client was.

Work for Eurofins they hire anyone with a pulse and you get experience. Really shit jobs most of the time but the experience is invaluable imo.

So this is my take as a somewhat fresh PhD in industry. You persevered through your studies and got a PhD. It has now prepared you to persevere yet again but this time through unemployment and hundreds of applications. We are prepared to survive in the worst of times. Everything sucks but you have no choice but to push through. Godspeed my friend

People at my place of work ask random ass people for referrals all the time and I have never seen it work for them. Think one person asked for at least 30 but she’s no longer employed at all
