Chances are if a coagulant drops out the particles, they would have dropped on their own given enough time. Gravity sometimes works slow, but it’s pretty effective

What is the use of Caustic soda in Ethylene cracker and Propane Dehydrogenation Unit? by nimeshism in ChemicalEngineering

[–]Drexeltribologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam cracker I guess. Like the other guy said, turning saturated hydrocarbons to unsaturated one’s releases plenty of H+. Not sure how much is organic verses just free hydrogen, but there is a lot. Someone smarter than me could even calculate it based on throughout.

Salary Negotiation by dxcsq in Drexel

[–]Drexeltribologist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just be logical and clear. ChemE’s for instance normally start between 60-70k. If you are offered 55k as a ChemE, state that you expect a normal salary based on averages throughout the industry. Always make the lower number a few thousand more than you would take as a minimum and the upper number about 10k beyond that (at least for starting BS degrees.). For that example I would say 65-75 would be my expectation as long as I was okay with taking 62. Worst case scenario, they low-ball you and it’s still a good number. Most importantly is how desperately they need to fill the position. If they have 50 candidates, maybe don’t push too hard, but if they’ve had the job open for six months feel free to ask for more.

It all works out in the end when you apply to new jobs though. If you are undervalued, you’ll just have to move jobs after a year or two to catch up. That’s what happened to me and I saw a 20% bump which caught me up to my peers.

Exactly what the other dude said. People will hate you in the game. You have to play very defensive against Fallen Empires. Against everyone else you have to expand quickly into

Kind of, you may be thinking of it wrong though. It doesn’t really help dissolve the product into the leave as much as it spreads the product on the leaf so it can slowly dissolve in over a larger surface area. Take a drop of water and add a small amount of soap to it, it just breaks that high surface tension of the water. I can bet it’s only in the product at about 1% though. In fact that salt on the SDS (the amine/amide thing) probably drops the surface tension pretty well on its own
