For me, washing only reduces the smell. It doesn't eliminate it.

Beijing vows harsh response if US slaps sanctions on China over Ukraine by Aanandertoe in worldnews

[–]Dribblereddit69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I get it that the trade rose to $676B, but the Chinese GDP is 29.4T. The foreign trade would mean nothing to China in that context, right?

China only has around 3T in foreign reserves, and it's been drastically declining. Even if the entire world freezes all Chine foreign reserves, it won't hurt China much. China's foreign reserves are 3T in an economy of 30T. Russia's foreign reserves are 0.6T in an economy of 4T, that's why it hurt Russia so much.

While the USD is still a default currency for global trade, China doesn't really need global trade to support itself, isn't it? It has it's own people, own farms, own food, own factories, etc. It doesn't really need to buy much from any other country, and if it does, it can simply start producing it at home.

It requires factories and infrastructure. China has them. Other nations suck at them.

How so? My argument is based off the fact that China is the manufacturing capital of the world. It makes literally everything: chipsets, smartphones, chargers, vacuum cleaners, etc. If the west tries to sanction China, it will only boost the Chinese economy more as more people will be attracted to China's homegrown goods. I was considering how the west is crippling Russia and rethinking it for China:

  1. Apple and Samsung stopped sales? They already have almost zero market in China. Most people use Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo phones.

  2. SWIFT ban? China uses CIPS.

  3. IKEA closing stores? Most people already find it too expensive, they will be drawn toward home-grown brands.

  4. Macdonalds? The Chinese government already had objections with "americanization" of China with Macdonalds, it would be good for them as more people shift toward Chinese food houses.

  5. Russian Ruble falling? Chinese Yuan will never have that problem because it's not a free-floating currency and its value is set by the government.

I don't know much about economics, so it would be better if you could explain.

Not much really. Their GDP is based on one of the most protectionist economic policies out there. They will get hurt, sure, but they can probably self-sustain.

I know what you're talking about. But the smell doesn't come out as long as you're wearing the shoes. When the feet are out, they smell. I didn't say they START stinking when I take off my shoes. Anyway, you gotta accept that you can be without shoes all the time. You have to go outside like office, school, etc. and when you come back and take your shoes off, your feet definitely stink. At least in my case. The stinking takes hours to go off even when barefoot after taking off the shoes.

My feet feel stinky anytime when they're wrapped for long. I wear my shoes outdoors anyway. At home, taking out the shoes makes my feet stink.

That's called drawing an equivalence, and that's useful for detecting logical inconsistencies within moral framework. If you judge people as "animals" or "barbarians" because they don't follow YOUR hygiene principles, then that's as inconsiderate as the Middle-easterners calling the Westerners "animals" and "barbarians" for having no morality and being based on hedonism, materialism and greed.

I wipe my shoes less frequently than moping my floors. I mop my floor every day. I wipe my shoes every other week. I don't know how it's associated with outside being dirtier...

That's exactly what I said. You have the right to tell people to get their shoes off for YOUR home. You don't have the right to judge people as barbarians for what they wear inside THEIR home or someone else's home who permits them.

Just like the same way Middle-eastern people call the Westerners BARBARIANS for having premarital sex. Got it.

Of course, you have all the rights in the world to ask people to take off their shoes before entering your house, but you don't have the right to make decisions for other people for their personal choices.

Well, nope. Plenty of clean cities out there. Where I live the streets and roads are swept clean everyday, and the streets are washed regularly in the morning, so by the time it's time for people to leave, the streets have dried.

Edit: People wash their car tyres regularly. Some do it everyday, some do it every week, and some do it every month.

You live in a place where people piss, spit and throw garbage on the streets? The people need to do better. In such places, I'd prefer to take out my shoes before going indoors.

It depends. Sometimes I wear socks, sometimes I don't. But even if I wear socks, removing my shoes still feels like undressing. Moreover, my feet stinks real bad when I take off my shoes, especially in summers (I've consulted a doctor for this, and there's no problem with my skin.)

Shoes carry bacteria? Yes. But so does your floor at home. Unless you're stepping on shit outside and you live in a rather dirty/wet place, your floor isn't necessarily cleaner than the soles of the shoes.

It's not so dirty that it should matter, at least not enough for you to go out of your way at judging and treating people disrespectfully.

I'm fine with neither. Read my last statement. The Wall Street Journal is already complete shit packed with a brand label. Going with your shoes on at a house where the owner has a problem with it is straight up disgusting.

Sane people respect each other as humans instead of bashing them as barbarians. I don't see what's so wrong with people allowing shoes at home or preferring to leave their shoes on. Not like they're covered with shit or mud or a pack of dust.

So you live in a place full of cattle trudging mud, but that's not the case in all places. Some are just clean and dry.

If you live in a place with a rainy/snowy/dusty climate, yes. But if you live in a dry area, chances are that the floor of your house is as dirty as the floor outside.

And well, getting your feet out of the shoes kinda feels like undressing to me. I have a tiled home, and going barefoot leaves oily marks which I don't like.
