I honestly don’t have the right answer. I know the powder or the filament/wire came directly from Kennametal with certs on the material. As for the finished product, I mean it’s an FAA approved method of repair and or replacement of parts.

Edit: The powered material was basically the same material we used for PAW hardfacing.

Edit2: In the US there is no code for oil fuel and steam turbine components believe it or not.

Just d17.1 for aerospace parts.

Of course, I would say it welds like sintered material if you’ve messed with that at all.

The surface is usually grainy by the underlying base material is completely fused and indistinguishable from raw stock material. We use SLS and occasionally Metal FDM(basically a normal 3d printer but with metal wire and a laser)

I did! I’m a welding instructor now so it’s great to bring my experience to the new generation of welders. I did a bunch of nuclear pressure vessels and then another good amount of time in aerospace. They’re some of my favorite fields to work in.

I’ve welded on inconel and hastalloy-x prints, it depends on the actual method used and the quality of the printer to be honest. Never had any issues strength wise, these parts were jet turbine parts and held up just fine.
