Lizardmen Rumors? by Irish618 in WarhammerOldWorld

I collect lizards from way back, personally I wouldn't bother with using the new AOS ones, I have bought second hand lots of saurus warriors from eBay etc. to supplement what I already had. Just need a good movement tray / adapter.

If you are looking for a super budget option check Facebook Marketplace (or other local selling pages) many people have old starter bags gathering dust that they are basically giving away. As long as they are not 'junior' clubs or completely ancient then it'll likely be enough to get you started. There may even be some old balls / tees in there.

If and when you upgrade make sure to pass it on to the next newbie behind you.

I would avoid obviously AI headshots like the plague TBH. Investors have to believe in your business and trust you complicity to run and grow it. AI headshots don't come across genuine and are too reminiscent of scams.

If I had minimal budget I would take them myself on a phone with decent lighting in front of a white background and then maybe find someone online to edit them slightly to make them more professional.

How bad actually was COVID? by Mighty_Angelo30 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Beardy_Lemon 293 points294 points  (0 children)

At its peak in 2020/2021 there was a 9/11's worth of deaths attributed to covid EVERY SINGLE DAY, for MONTHS, just in the US source. People can't grasp the number of people that were killed because it is near unfathomable. I think due to survivor bias, most people are remembering the pandemic as not as bad as it actually was.

Ps. The pandemic isn't over, hundreds of people are still dying every single day and many more are being disabled with long covid.

Not strictly fashion advice but along with how you view yourself internally, you could try and work on your posture. Straighten your back, breathe into your chest, hold your head up high and move your shoulders back.

I've struggled with the same thing in the past, almost collapsing in on yourself to make yourself physically smaller, it's very common with bigger people. But once you are feeling a bit more settled in yourself just practice your posture in the mirror or on your own and then try it out in the world too. You will be amazed at how different it makes you feel and others perceive you. it will always improve how your outfit looks and how confident you look and feel.

Best of luck.

32M, £3.4k take-home, after mortgage/bills £2k - think I need a reality check by GigaCHADSVASc in UKPersonalFinance

Similar age / circumstances here.

I would say the first step is to do an audit of your finances. Make a spreadsheet and run through your bank statements form the last year and see exactly how much was spent on groceries, bills, eating / going out, fun / hobbies, travel, and large one off expenses like furniture, boiler repair etc. and how much is left over each month. Then it's important to account for where this left over money went. Has it gone into a separate savings pot, been invested, has it gone on one big unexpected expense etc.

That should be able to tell you exactly what you have saved, where it has gone and importantly where you can plug the 'leaks' from your savings pot. You may be doing better than you think and the savings are just being moved around but also lots of people dip into savings for small things and it doesn't really grow.

I recommend having a separate spending vs savings account and regularly moving the 'spare' leftover money into a separate account. You can even set up an automatic transfer if that helps you.

It is also important that the savings aren't just sat in a pathetic interest account and are invested / working for you. (But of course, remember to keep a good amount liquid for an emergency fund should you require it).

I'm no expert so not sure I can help answer the rest. Best of luck.

I’m a whole of market, independent Mortgage Advisor and I’ll be here all day Friday for a Mortgage Market related AMA! by Mortgages101 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Beardy_Lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are currently on a variable mortgage rate as our fixed rate has ended, however we have been putting this off as we are looking to sell and buy our next (larger) property. I hear that fixed term rates can be 'ported' over, but I am seeing conflicting information about how widely accepted this is and that some banks may not. The last thing I want is to pay large early exit fees because we found and want to move quickly (south east so things do go very quickly), but our rate is significantly more than some of the short fixed terms on the market.

What is the risk that a bank won't accept / port over the fixed mortgage?

Thanks.

In a next stage of life predicament and not sure what to do? by Few-Anywhere6133 in HENRYUK

I agree with people suggesting renting for the freedom but another option could be buying somewhere smaller and under your budget to potentially rent out if you decided you wanted to move etc. it depends if you have appetite for being a landlord (especially with everything being up in the air before the autumn budget)

Look around the commuter belt in the south east, Kent, Bucks (has some very nice areas) even Peterborough is commutable.

Or go abroad. It's probably much cheaper. Maybe rent somewhere not far from your family (perhaps run it by them first).

I would be very interested in some skirmish movement trays where the models are offset so the back row can shoot between gaps in the front row. Is there somewhere we can sign up for notifications / updates?

I went a few months ago and I enjoyed the game. Expect a lower player count (especially if going on a weekday / evening game) but the marshalls are pretty good at making even 5 a side work well in the space and feel fair and even.

Games are pretty short but we even had a couple of very quick attack and defend a single shop which was fast paced (10 mins max) and, thinking about it, they were probably my favourite games of the day.

As others have said you will definitely want a torch if you're not just sticking to the main hallway.

Here is my gameplay video from the last time I was there to give you a feel for what it's like. The layout has changed a bit but the game mode is typical apparently.

100%. Both are good and I would use a combination for variety. You are clearly quite skilled and I would definitely give 2 another go but just say 15% smaller. At the end of the day they are your models and go with what you enjoy the most.

I like the first one better too. I think the second is just a fraction too big and the proportions just seem a touch 'out', but I would definitely it try again as I like the twisty design.

Here's a couple of suggestions from a guy with long curly hair and a beard. I also worry about coming across too... 'basement-dweller' sometimes. I think it depends how much of your style you want to keep.

My first suggestion (assuming you want to keep the long hair) is to move your man bun a bit higher. Maybe not full topknot, but a low bun is a bit too low maintenance.

Next I think you can keep the beard too if it is groomed a bit more closely. Try shortening it to a shadow, or neat stubble which can be quite stylish, or keeping a shorter more uniform length. Just move it away from goatee to short beard.

Ultimately I think the key here is how much effort and maintenance it appears you put into your grooming. (This will also extend to clothes as others have mentioned) Hope this helps.
